Lunchtime on a Thursday…….time for a Table For Two!

Following on from our 2UP threads over the pre-season, Table For Two endeavours to help you with those tough decisions ahead of Rd7. If you can’t split two players (or two groups of players), enter them into comments. The SCT Coaches will help out using the Thumbs UP/DOWN function………

  1. In a tricky spot atm. Full premo besides Logue at D6, trades plans were set but J. Kelly having to go has complicated things. 4 trades left and 28k itb.

    Got two options, give me your thoughts:

    Option #1 – T.U:

    This week: J. Kelly -> Bont
    Next week: Clarke -> downgrade & Logue -> Whitfield
    Result: full premium, 1 trade left, no cover

    Option #2 – T.D:

    This week: J. Kelly -> Jy Simpkin (via Heeney DPP to M8)
    Next week: Logue -> Whitfield
    Result: Simpkin at F6, Heeney M8, 2 trades left, Clarke as cover

    Concerns and risks with both options. With Option #1, will 1 trade be enough till the seasons’ end? On the flip side, if the Simpkin move doesn’t work I’m f*cked and is it uncompetitive to have Heeney at M8?

    Decisions, decisions…

    1. I’d go Hawkins instead of Simpkin. Also option 1 will net plenty more points. You have to then pray for no injuries.

      1. Ty, TR. It’s rank I’m after, so leaning towards Option #1.

        Also, Bont is the obvious replacement for J. Kelly?

        Already got Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Satan Oliver, Neale, Cunnington and Sloane.

          1. Hey, Adam.

            DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Ryan, Houli, Sicily & Logue [Burgess, Hinge]

            MID: Macrae, J. Kelly, Fyfe, Cripps, Satan Oliver, Neale, Cunnington & Sloane [D. Clarke, Bewley, Watson]

            RUC: Grundy & Gawn [Sweet]

            FWD: Danger, Marshall, Dunkley, Boak, T. Kelly & Heeney [Chol, Gardner]

            4 trades, 28k itb.

            1. An option could be
              Out: J Kelly and C Burgess
              In: T Hawkins (via a fwd/mid) and H Andrews

              Allows Logue to cover def instead of Burgess and Hinge.

              1. Thanks for the suggestion, Adam, but Darling has taught me a lesson vis a vis key position players and Andrews’ floor concerns me. Also, remains to be seen how Marcus Adams will affect him; doubt they play him up forward again.

                What do you make of my original dilemma?

              1. Hmm. Will give that some thought, TR.

                What do we think of Yeo as a Kelly replacement?

    2. I’ve had Heeney at M8 for two weeks! He’s been good. Obviously it’s not ideal, but if it saves trades …

      1. Personally think SIMPKIN could be an excellent POD. And I mean, EXCELLENT!
        I’d go Option2 in a heartbeat if you’re set on trading Jelly. You’ll need those trades.

        Also, you can wait til the last minute on your decision:
        Logue could be a late IN for Ryan?
        Clarke could score well enough as an E to hold and reassess?!

        While neither are that likely, you just never know. But as FD says, trades are oxygen, and without oxygen we …

        Good luck GD!

        1. Morning, AS.

          Agree you with on Simpkin, named as a follower this week and Shaw said he likes him in the midfield. Problem is even I go J. Kelly -> Simpkin I’d still need to cash in Clarke to afford Logue -> Whitfield the next week.

          Meaning Option #2 doesn’t save me a trade.

          Would have been fine had I just gotten another f*cking price rise out of Logue, who I’m copping this week as a donut.

  2. Got a serious dilemma this week with how to open up my last upgrade slot.

    Going Stack > premo next week, and thinking ROB will have to be the cash cow culled to allow for this ((thank you for your service)).

    Option 1 listed below is the clear option for creating a nice cash nest egg for the run home and ensuring future flexibility. However Option 2 would give me that crucial ruck/fwd swing and some nice bench cover.

    Would greatly appreciate some community advice on how to proceed! For some context i have 10 trades left, 20k banked and ranked around 900.

    T/U ROB > Hanrahan (via Bines)
    T/D ROB > Westhoff

    1. Sounds like you will be full premo with 8 trades to spare.
      Given the good trade position, I’d go option 1 and trade around any outs.
      You will probably be able to bring in better cover than Hoff if/when you need it.

    2. With 10 trades left and your current position (both excellent), I’d be über aggressive. Would need to see your full team to gain context and give specifically relevant thoughts.

  3. Only have $450k to grab a D6 and finish team. Thinking between these two. Both averaging 90 and priced similar.

    TU – Nic Newman
    TD – Jason Johannisen

  4. TU:
    Burgess-Cameron (WC)
    Lockhart-Stewart (GEE)
    Lose D/F swing

    TD:
    Burgess-JSilvagni
    Lockhart-JJ
    Maintain D/F swing (Silvagni-Gardner)

    1. It seems with Cripps back this week, Silvagni may lose those MID minutes (named at HFF). You’d think he still may be given specific run-with roles depending on each game is panning out, but am not as keen as I was now that teams have been dropped!

  5. My backline is

    Williams Lloyd Hurn laird Sicily j Clark geel. Hore Logue.

    I want trade out Hore but not sure who to. Keep in mind Clark or Logue will become Whitfield in the next week or 2.

    1. I’d hold Hore this week and see if you can’t use him to get Whitfield?
      Clark GEE is looking more and more like a very valuable D7. I’d hold him if you can!

  6. Logue being out buggered up my plans, so:

    T/U
    hore -> stewart
    JKelly -> bont

    or
    T/D
    Hore -> Hurn
    JKelly -> JPK

  7. Have Logue at D6 with no cover and also Josh Kelly.. (5 trades left)
    Was planning on going Kelly to Sloane this week and Logue to Whitfield next week, however Logue being dropped has complicated things as I can’t do both those trades this week with limited funds..

    Trading them both out this week, do I:
    T/u – Downgrade Kelly to Dunkley and upgrade Logue to Whitfield, next week Setters to a premo mid (Sloane)
    T/d – Look for a premo forward and mid for 973k to finish the team

    1. Jack STEELE did a job on him last week, but the Saints didn’t turn up ‘til it was too late. Proved effective in the second-half, so better teams than us with taggers may well consider it.
