Target Test – Ryan Hargrave?

Written by Big Sexy on March 6 2012

Hargrave has missed a bit of footy, is he back to stay, is he back in form?  He only manged 5 games in 2011 at an average of 64, but can he regain the 2009 form that saw him average 96.  Will injuries to Williams and Morris help or hinder his potential to bang out big scores.  Where do you sit?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Thought he was older than he is. Not a spring chicken by any means but turns 31 this year. Im still undecided…

  2. Hargraves is a solid backmen who can run but with age & injury issues i dont think he’s a viable SC option. With Williams & Morris hurt im guessin he’ll play as a 3rd tall defender for the dogs. Rather take a chance on an up & coming defender or rookie prospect. Pass.

  3. In my team ATM. My thoughts are that if he continues in form will be a chance to raise a quick $100k and use cash to help upgrade to a premium at D5. I share similar sentiments on Lake who I believe will make us some money but not a season prospect.

  4. I just wish that the season proper would hurry up and start. I keep having to catch myself from making silly decisions/changes. ATM I am toying with downgrading Heppell to Hargraves and changing Hall to Porps and Mumford to Cox.

  5. It is a real shame Williams went down, hargrave could of had a blinder of a year, he will now have to play the 3rd tall as we don’t have anyone else (anyone decent that is), will keep an eye on both him and lake and decide who to take prior to lockout..

  6. If theres one target test i could choose it be Lindsey Gilbee. Would love to know what dogs supporters (or anyone for that matter) think of his chances of returning to his SC glory days. A former all australian & an automatic lock backline selection couple of seasons ago. Where’s he at now?

  7. People seem to forget Hargrave has never done particularly well in Supercoach, apart from a single year where he scored 20 ppg higher (97 ppg) than every other year – since that one year everybody seems to think Hargrave is a “fallen premium” for some reason and that the only reason he doesn’t score well is he is constantly injured (which I’m not so sure about – you need more than one good year to be a premium). His injury history, age and role within the team all concern me too.

  8. I’ve had RH in and out of my side for the past 3 days. He is out at the moment due to my thoughts that at 50k cheaper, Christian Howard is a better bet: ex-first round draft pick, 3 or 4 seasons in the system, excellent foot skills… Seems to be ripe to me, however, I’m not too sure about his job security. Any thoughts on him as a potential D5 to start with over Lake/Hargrave?
