Tech Leagues Prelim Reviews

Written by JimmyDee on September 15 2020

Phat score changes top five and throws the Chips (Ahoy) out.

Mrs Macca maintains healthy lead and looks set to join the Hall of Fame in just over a week’s time despite her first middle of the road score (2187) in a few weeks. The Phat tech side brought it home beautifully for a large 2483.

Nearest coach was Alza on 2362, followed by Ninius and Lost Lands both on 2318, and Nato’s Tech Difficulties with 2301 rounding out the top five this week. 2 EZY scores a mention for his 2296 almost cracking the 2300 mark.

SCCTL 1 Prelim winners were Fixed Interest over the Golden Arches by 25 points, thanks mainly to only one spud (Danger) vs Macca’s Bolta, Simpkin and Titch. My decision not to match Simpkin and instead go with a POD in Acres was a significant factor as was having Rankine to bring it home strong, turning a healthy advantage of 102 over Grundy into just 25 at the end. Great battle Macca, reminiscent of the many we’ve had in various leagues over the years.

Prelim 2 was an epic blockbuster with the Nuns home ground advantage enough to get the W by a solitary point over the luckless Jumper Punchers, bad luck this time Barry. Difference here was Barry’s POD Docherty, despite FD choosing Neale as VC and eventually having to take Grundy vs Gawn.

In the minors, Agates advanced over Champs Chumps and Technicoolz cruised past JB Bombers. Well done all, but unfortunately for JB no “Chameo” grand final appearance.

SCCTL 2 Victory went 2 EZY  over the Kelvinators in a high scoring affair 2296 to 2247. Unlucky Lisa despite Liam rejecting Steeles 122 as VC and going with a lesser Macrae, but he’s been strong all season and not sitting in 3rd overall for no reason. AT the end of the day, PODs were the difference with Gaff vs Adams and Rankine.

Ninius and Graces alter ego KShear continued the great late season form to comfortably put aside Chips Ahoy with Gawn and Bont being considerable PODs, and Matt not being able to get Rivers off the bench and having to wear Lachie Neale’s worst score since 2017 as Captain.

In the minors, an obvious Phat score was too much for Mutts Nutts 2 by the odd 500 points, and Mrs 34 advancing at the expense of Tigers Roar.

Cheers everyone for a great competition this strange season and the very best to everyone next round, particularly those fighting out the granny.
Hope to see you all next season, thanks for playing.

  1. My beloved is pretty chuffed to be in the minors Final (the Agates), having just missed out on the big one.
But probably not as much as I am to have the Cannabins in the SCT7 grand final. 😉

  2. Happy with my 2301, but a little disappointed with the premo I took off the field for Rivers tonne. Went with JPK and he then scored 127 with a great 2nd half. Left Adams on the field with his measly 67 as Treloar returned. A loss of 20 points occurred and a gain of 40 was available. 60 point swing would have been great to see.

2 trades available for the last round, wonder if I manage to find a good trade target. Might have to hold back though as won’t be surprised if some resting occurs

    1. As you should be Nato, well done.

My humblest of apologies for missing that score somehow. That puts you in the top five for the week and I’ll try and edit it in after the fact.

      1. There’s no need to worry about that! I am happy with what you are doing every week.
Wasn’t my best of seasons with all the chaos that we had but still was a great challenge to take on.

  3. Great stuff James – on beating me in the SF and also on running the Tech league … been a great fun comp to focus on after the Rnd 3 debacle and you set up a great starting side to run with!!

Now, in our final – well played! I held the C on Neale for as long as I could right up until 5 seconds from kick off hoping you would try to match me!! Damn … wish you had!

Balta has serviced me well the last few weeks with a great new role … but seriously, he was ripped off in his match by CD scoring … he shut big Tom out of the game and really should have scored somewhere near 100 for his efforts … he even scored less in the scoring with more disposals / stats at higher efficiency than other players … CD scorers are kidding themselves if they don’t have favourites!!

Nice play bringing in Acres … I looked at our squads and available cash and figured with Wingards last two matches I needed to bring him back in to match you just in case … had not even looked at or considered Acres to be honest and hadn’t watched you bring him in … if I had, I may have matched you with him and result would have gone my way!! … and Grundy … well, he’s been disappointing all year …. but surely he could have got another 30 points!!

All up, good luck to yourself and Father in the Major GF in our league and to all the others in the minor and other league finals!!

    Well played all!!

    1. Thanks Macca.

I thought you had it with a half to go as Rankine was going backwards giving away frees and fifties – so much so I didn’t watch after half time and was as surprised as hell to come out with the W

Now if I can somehow overcome the Convent home ground advantage and knock off FD for my second Tech League Cup.

That said, good luck FD and may the best team win.

      1. Thanks very much! My last match was amazing, and I am very lucky to have made it to the final. Being able to loop in both Rivers and Sholl was very fortunate.

Great job running this and I am glad I decided to try again. I’ll be back next season for sure.
