Anyone else toying with the idea of bringing Burgoyne in this week?
Anyone else have Kennelly and are you thinking of trading him out?
Who else comes and goes this week?

Brown for Fyfe? Will free up cash and am sick of Browns low scores. Kenelly for Dale Morris? Any word yet on Tadghghgh’s knee? Would like to think about Burgoyne but the other two are more pressing I think, depending on Tadghghgh’s knee and how serious it is.

I too am sick of Brown’s schtick. Brought him in when Roo went down and he’s fizzed ever since.

Keen to add another premium to my team this round so i’ll see what i can conjure up. Maybe Brown will hold his spot, maybe not.

Morris won’t score more than 40 ppg that game against the Roos was a feast all bulldog backmen score high numbers.

Kennelly to Hargrave if he’s out for more than 4 weeks..

Gumbleton has made as much cash as he’s going to, With Fyfe and Hitchcock on my bench both scoring 3 times what Gumby did it’s time to go. Higgins here I come.

Borwn, what to do with you… considering putting Fyfe in for you until your fit..

I’d be wary of Higg-dog Teckst. I’ve been keen to bring him in also, but there are rumours abound that he has O.P. Which is enough to have me worried enough to stay clear at this stage.

Thanks for the heads up Nicko, any other forwards priced around the 450,000 mark worth looking at?

Id be getting Ryan O’Keefe in STAT if u dont have him.
A couple of bad games has seen his price plummet.

I am planning to trade Brown out for Goodes this week to get rid of Brown and get enough cash up to trade Kennelly out for Gilbee this week.

Goodes has been an average worse than Brown this year but after watching the Brisbane vs Adelaide game on the weekend its easy to see that Brown is absolutely fingered from injury.

Goodes may also enjoy the extra room in the forward line with Bradshaw looking to be missing a few weeks or more with his knee giving him the iritz.

In regard to Burgoyne, as much as I’d like to, I’m actually pretty happy with my on field mids and see no reason to disrupt it with Burgoyne prescence.
If I was going to bring anyone in, I’d reckon that it would be Lenny Hayes.

Ive have a very close look at Burgoyne also. But when I have Rohan on the bench scoring 103, Howlett on the field scoring 121, and Trengrove on the bench scoring 119 I dont see the need to bring him in being that pressing.

I reckon I may down-trade J. Brown also as $500,000 for an injured man is just too much. He may score a big one every so often but I dont wanna carry him till the mid year break if he is churning out scores of 40-odd.

Doing that trade will allow me to bring in Gilbee for Kennelly as a Medial Ligament injury to the knee is around 6 weeks. 4-5 games missed and with his price set to drop after he comes bak means Gilbee will b joining at his current Bargain price (courtesy of that 44 3 weeks ago).

Technical question about DPP’s

If i sub goddard (currently in my mid) and gram (currently in my defence) can i then trade gram for a pure midfielder….or do i have to trade him for a DPP mid/defender

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Motts May 24, 2010 at 10:23 am

If Gram is in the midfield you can trade him for either a midfielder or any type of DPP with midfielder as one of the positions.

What do we do with Browndawg, that’s what 195,111 (Wow) SC Coaches are asking themselves this week. We all know the rule “Don’t trade a premium unless he has a LTI”, he’ll come good, but we all Browndawg is injured just have a look at he’s scores R1 130, R2 171, R3 141 and R4 81 when he got injured avg 130.75 ppg value $597,200 $+17,700 ($+71,800).

Now when the rumours were going that he wasn’t going to play the Dees in R5 39, R6 143 we all felt he was over he’s injury, R7 58 hmmm, R8 90 maybe he’s ok and finally R9 38 warning signs. From rounds R5-R9 He’s avg was 73.6 value $438,200 $-48,100 ($-87,200) so he’s avg has decreased by 57.15 ppg and he’s value has gone down by $159k.

Is it now time to offload the Browndawg or do we cross are fingers and pray to god that he’ll come good.

If you’re out of the overall and can only win your leagues then he’s a keeper as you’ll need to win matches in the last four rounds. He’ll get a break mid year with the bye and maybe a rest against the Tigers the week before giving him 3 weeks off and a platform for the second half of the season.
If he’s still not right after Rd 15/16 you can use that trade but pulling the trigger now might be premature and with the other forwards available (ex Pav) you may be looking at a double burn.

I think your better off pulling the trigger within the next fortnight or so because he’s value will drop given he’s b/e is 140 as mention by Gussy, you might lose $100k by R16 if he plays and doesn’t perform.

Fair arguement for a short term outcome however remember what we are trying to achieve here. The prize is at the end of the season and one thing I find most of us doing is calculating values (ie: losses/profits) on the go which only fuel the manic trading activity. P & L are only realised when sales occur – consider basic stock market trading (buy low and sell high.)
I don’t think JB will go much lower but at his current price, historically he must be considered a long term buy for the reasons stated above. To sell now and buy into an overachiever at this stage of the season is courting disaster IMO which has the potential for double loss.
PS: I have JB and Rolly so I’m probably biased and convincing myself of this strategy however I distinctly remember trading the Pav out last year circa rd 7 and regretting it during finals.

Understand your point Deano, all I’m trying to say is Brown has been injured since Round 4 and still hasn’t recovered 6 weeks later so should he be classed as having LTI, which gives merit for trading him out or do ride out this storm.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Deano May 24, 2010 at 11:43 pm

If that assessment was made when the injury was first diagnosed then trade for LTI as you still had price value. The anomoly as you’ve pointed out is the 140 odd at rd 5 which teased us all that nothing was wrong. The reality now that we’ve held firm is that there is no value long term in trading (other than Pav but then you’re paying a premium due to his form.)

Bottom line is:
Don’t chase your losses – particularly with a proven premium.

You’re looking real thin on trades 86 – especially wasting one on that downgrade and the others are arguably sideways.
I would ride it out for the next 4-6 weeks and then look at trading. You’ll need some flexabiliity approaching and during the last four rds.
