I picked Ballantyne hands down for the sake of picking a player but I’m in a position to trade BBB and I’m not going to if that helps.
He’ll belt Gibson next week and get back on track!

Poor choice of words… he’ll outplay Gibson next week!

sorry brods but i am definately dropping him Rocket Eade thinks he will take another 6-8 weeks to be at his best and i can’t afford to have a player scoring 50 for 6 weeks

By saying that Rocket Eade is hoping Clarkson is dumb enough to go man on man next week and forget about the drubbing Gibson received in the NAB cup.
I’ll take the risk and hopes he moves closer to an 80-85 average by round 6. I figure if he’s healthy and he’s not suspended it’s a damn good start

I have a great team at the moment and very happy with them, I really like Barry Hall but he is the only one letting the side down, considering keeping him though, surely he can only get better and the second I dump him, he will go out and kick a bag full!

I would keep him for one more week. Unfortunately for me I have to trade Tippett out first, he’s playing terrible.
[I reckon either Ballantyne or Dangerfield]

I carried freakin Tippett and Walker through Round 2 (total of 61 between them) and had Swan as Captain. Oh, what could have been. Ah well, I’ll take 2262 with those underperformers in there.
They’re both goooone this week though. Thinking Seaby and Ballantyne.

Actually – whadya reckon trade out Walker (avg. 55.5 off a 32 in Rd 2) or Hall (avg. 51.5 off a 43 in Rd2)? I can’t carry them both any more.

I’m keeping both of them . . . but that’s mainly because I have more pressing issues in Jolly and Tippett. Even so, neither Hall nor Walker cost too much so I’d save your trade.

Tried to stay from trades until at least round 3 but I’m too tempted, I now have $368k in the kitty and one trade left. Was thinking of getting rid of Ziebel or Betts for either Brown or Byrnes. Ideas/Suggestions?

Yeah – get rid of Betts for JB….easy decision!

Hey Motts, I have a question for you about the breakeven scores. I was wondering if a player needs say 100 to breakeven, if you put him captain and he only scores say 60 individually but 120 as captain, will that count towards him beating the 100 breakeven? Or do they just calculate it on the individual score? Do you or anyone know?
Cheers
Cameron

The fact you’ve made him captain won’t have any bearing on his new price, Cam. The only bearing the (C) factor has is on your team’s individual score. It will be the 60 that his new price will be calculated on.

excellent thanks a lot. I’m trying to save Luke Ball because he needs 127 to breakeven lol

Yeah I think Tippett is more the issue than BBB. I understand the importance of keeping trades until later on in the season, but is it smart to trade out 2 players going down in value for two that are definately going up next week. Trading Tippett for Ballantyne then upgrading Bradshaw to J Brown. Good idea? Bad Idea?

Excellent idea.
This is the only time all season (rookies excluded) where you can see exactly what a player’s value will do before it happens. While I agree with the argument of saving trades, I think this week is a sensible time to make a move if you have a player set to drop in value and can see a value buy that is going to boom. Tipett for Seaby is a great example and I’ll be making that trade come team announcements.
I am also seriously considering Hall for the super impressive Ballantyne. The little Dock is not showing any signs of slowing down, and if the Fre-o mid continues on its merry way, he’ll crack triple figures most weeks. Hall isn’t clinking them. He’s a crucial part of the Dogs’ forward line, but the in form roving forwards around him will rack up the SC points quicker than he will until opposition sides start leaving him one-out.
Thoughts?

Think you cant go wrong with those trades mate.
I’m trading Tippet as well. Hopefully for Browne, just working out my other trade to free up some $$$ for him.

Thanks, now to decide whether it will be Hall or Bradshaw that gets upgraded first… If you had that decision who would you upgrade to JB?

im thinking the exact same trade, but also concerned about tippet going out and having a monster game against the dee’s this week…and seaby hasnt played a real top line ruck attack i dont think…but he has been impressive.
im thinking baz for browny…browny is average 150 thats pretty huge

Sounds like we’re all on the same horses – Tippett for Seaby and Hall for Brown (or Ballantyne in my case).
And Jace – yep, there’s a chance Tippett will turn his form around but I think the question is do you want to pay for it in the meantime? He’ll drop in value almost regardless of his form this week and Seaby go up for sure.
As for my query above (whether to chop Hall or Walker), I am chopping Hall. Walker has a slightly better average and is a lot cheaper – was an easy decision in the end.
Still very interested in any further comments – I for one won’t be making any trades till Thursday.

A question if I may. I have not got Barlow BUT I have Tibbit , Medhurst, Hall and Ziebell!. My Midfield is not going to bad apart from maybe Trengove. Now is getting Barlow in a MUST and then work around that for my other trade? or should I leave Barlow alone and trade tibbet and a forward?
Thanks

Barlow, Barlow , Barlow, Barlow, Barlow . . . First thing you should do is get Barlow. His price will skyrocket at the end of Round 3. You then will make a healthy profit (like everyone else) when you trade him out for a cheap, impressive rookie mid later in the season. Don’t miss the boat!

barlow will end up being the greg broughton of this year. i can only see his price go up up up and away!! he will hit 500k easy IMO. You must have him- he’s scoring more than Ablett!!!

Don’t let it get to you. We all made decisions that didn’t work out for us . . . I put Jolly and Hille as my rucks. It was a gamble that has cost me a trade (my faith is still with Hille). If Barlow had a been a dud you would have saved yourself a trade that thousands of others would be making this week. So don’t stress . . . geez, I’m starting to sound like a counsellor.

Will Geelong go the hard tag on Barlow this week, and, if so, can Barlow score 100+ on Lingy?
Like or Dislike:

I doubt that Barlow’s ever been tagged by the likes of Lingy before, so if it happens he’d do well to score heavily. Having said that, I’d doubt that it would be in Geelong’s plans to tag Barlow from the outset.

In regards to trading out BBB
1.Ebert? Averaging 105.5 at a price of $317k he presents better value than murphy or dangerfield.
2.Dangerfield? might be better than his average of 95.5 because hes played in both losing games of Adelaide, Adelaide are bound to bounce back sooner or later, which means it would be hard to think what he will score if he plays in a winning game.
3.Carl Peterson? Priced at just $100k he is averaging higher thank Hall…

Just a query…I have both Tippet, Hall and Robbie Gray, with no back up on the bench. Would it be worth trading Robbie Gray to someone like hitchcock or Carl peterson giving me extra $$$ to upgrade hall or tippet to Brown?
Or maybe just Gray to ballantyne, and Tippet to Brown?
But my biggest worry seems to be Baz rather than Tippet…

So why not Baz to Ballantyne and Tippy to Brown? Do the numbers work there?

I’ve got BBB and Williams in my forward line. Undecided on BBB but Williams has to go, already have Ballantyne, so not sure what the best option is.
Also what are peoples thoughts on Silvagni for Nason? Worth it?
And what about Trengrove from PA. I’ve got him as a ruck bench, anyone worth trading for him?
