Personally I’ll be captaining Gary Ablett this week. After handing it to ROK last week, Gaz got a little miffed and took it out on the Dockers to the tune of 157. Come back, Junior, all is forgiven.

Hodgey loves playn against the Pies and should have a free run from the defense into the midfield where he can gather up big numbers. Also he seem determined this year to make up for last season below par performance, so pies fans watch out.

i agree, as much as it kills me to say it, he absolutely smashes us, so he would be a safe captain if you dont have ablett….his record is unbelievable…averaging 134 against us, why not go for him?

joel selwood should be in for a good one playing port and with all the focus on GAJ he should get plenty of the ball.

what trade do you think would be best for voldt
1, voldt for cyril
2,voldt for JB
3, voldt for goodes

Davoldt for JB likes logical dunx if you haven’t got ROK in your side then he could be your other option.

yeah got ROK
my only worry is that cyril is injury prone with his op
and JB could wear himself out come later in the season bringing injuries and poor form.

Dont be so sure dunx and Al. If you recall last years Port vs Geelong game down at skilled, Mark Williams went for the unorthodox approach of using K. Cornes on Selwood rather than Ablett. This resulted in a 80 odd points for Selwood and a 160 odd points for Ablett. You have been warned.

bought GAJ this year with the idea to make him C every game and leave it at that. after 2 games i went away from the plan and picked ROK thinking he would chop against the tigers. that move cost me about 100 points. nup, back to GAJ and leave it at that for the rest of the year (i hope!!).

Your Working outs are incorrect magoo, if you had ROK as Captain last week then he have scored you 224 + GAJ 157 = 381, whilst if you had GAJ as your Captain you would have 314 + 112= 426 so it’s really around 45 points.

woops. i just compared the 224 or ROKs captain to the 314 of GAJ’s captain. i see your point.

Off topic… (maybe deserves a new thread) Which rookies are in your starting 22?
Trying to pick 2 between Barlow, Martin, Bastinac.
Leaning towards Bastinac and Martin because Barlow will have a tough tag this week…
Who are you running with and who would you pick?

It’s a good question. I’ve got a similar problem with Trengove vs Martin. I’ll probably go with Martin cos he’s been more consistent and averages 12 more ppg. I’m just worried that the Dees will flog Richmond. Go Tiges!

I use the iPhone too and yeah it works well, but FYI the posts appear in order of when they were posted rather than showing what the post is a reply to – which makes it tricky sometimes. Dunno if that’s an option you can fiddle with Motts.

Well if you have Son of God it goes without saying however those of us who took a punt on waiting for his massive price tag to drop will have to settle for…………. personally I liked the input of Aufiero above regading Hodgey and could see him saddle up as skipper alternatively, Bartel could play his in-close best this weekend, lay some huge tackles and pin-point a few daisy-cutters along the way….or could Browny maintain form and kick a dozen….I think I’m leaning towards Bartel. Cats to bounce back, play tough and rack up some pozzies..

on browny, does anyone think lake might go to him or will he go to fevola. i know brown is a chf and lake normally likes to stay deep in defence, but if lake doesnt take him, browny could be in for a big one in the from he’s in. i know they like to use morris on the opponents chf but not sure he’s up to this one. maybe JB for the big C if you dont have GAJ.

Nice Magoo; some good points on the Doggies defence. Morris is a pretty agile fellow and the Dogs may need his run to go with browny up the field; mind you lake has some grunt and Rocket may want his body-to-body work against Browny. Either way, I agree with your sentiments J Brown in his current form could have the pill on a leash….

A bit of risk considering you already have an indication on everyone else is going. He could come into contention two weeks from now. It is just an unnecassary risk at this stage.

When I was being unfaithful to this site, I wrote this reply to someone asking if it’s time to bring in Judd.
“If you’re planning to get him, no matter what, bring him in this week.
Otherwise, if you wait, the negative is you will miss out on probably a couple of big scores. However, if you wait 2 weeks, you can assess if his form is good enough to warrant being in your team, you get the added benefit of one or more of your cash cows going up in price and then upgrading one of them, as opposed to a sideways trade.
The other benefit of waiting, is that there are some other midfielders about to come down in price, like Swan, Mitchell, Pendles to name a few to be able to compare him against. Check out the break-even scores for this week.
I think the benefits of waiting 2 weeks outweighs any short-term gain”

I know I should of waited till the team lists tonight but I couldnt help myself: 2 trades OUT: SILVAGNI, DANGERFIELD / IN : SCHMIDT, RIOLI
Have now used 4 trades for the season and my team looks like this:

ABLETT, COONEY, J.SELWOOD, BARLOW, GIBBS, MITCHELL
NATANUI, HILLE
J.BROWN, HIGGINS, HARVEY, ROUGHEAD, HALL, RIOLI, GUMBY
INTERCHANGE:
MAGUIRE, SCHMIDT, MARTIN, HOWLETT, WARNOCK, GRIMLEY, PODSIADLY, ROBERTS

You could be in trouble come the pinty end of the season Peter. Trades are gold at this time of year so they become platinum at the business end. If Dangerfield plays this week you have wasted a trade mate. Silvagni was worth hanging on to as well. You now have one aweek to play with not including finals and you really want to go into the finals with at least two up your sleeve.

Point taken Mickey however looking at my team now I dont need to make any more trades other than long term injuries. I dont think the dangerfield trade was wasted because Cyril (barring injury) will make me a lot more points this year than Danger. And as for Silvagni there is no pont in having him in my team if im not going to use him so I cashed in 70k on that trade. As u can see from my interchange Goose is also on my pine and can come in if needed.

Peter, if your trading Dangerfield for Cyril, I have two words for you…. Luke Ball. OP is a career killer, and Cyril is just as likely to have to rest every couple of weeks…. I have Dangerfield in my forward, and am keeping him…. had to shuffle him to the midfield this week so I can rest him on the bench… but Buyer Beware with Cyril.

I don’t understand why you got rid of Silvagni Pete, you was sitting on a enormous cash cow in SOS and barring injury should play all 22 games this year and there is no stop of his value rising for a while. Schmidt has only played 1 game and seems like a fringe player to me you’ll be crossing your fingers week in, week out for him just to get named in the Crows 22

Hey guys what do you think think about this trade
S, Johnson out – Rioli in
Tippett out – Zeibell in
Swapped tippet cause he has been really disapointing in the last 3 rounds and is injuried, and steve johnson was an under performer only really scored between 70 – 80 and now i have 80k next week to swap for JB

To play one short this week or to use another trade to get rid of Chris Newman for Lindsay Gilbee? That is the question…

Gilbee’s in red hot form. Not too many touches of late, but has the ball on laser beam. Lookout if he does get the ball plenty.
However, how long is Newman out? And do you have cover? And most importantly, how badly do you need to beat your opposition?
I have a history of making big trades just before big games… usually to my eventual detriment. lol

Hey there guys,
I was also thinking trade wise for the Riewoldt option:
a. Trading Riewoldt out for Pavlich
b. Upgrading Franklin to Harvey
My forward line would then consist of:
O’Keefe / Pavlich / Harvey / Dangerfield / Ziebell / Medhurst
(Emergencies : Pods / Rockliff)
Just wondering if you think this would be a safe option.
See ya,
Leesa.
PS – Too Motts and everyone else working and running this site / forum. You guys are doing a fantastic job. Please pay no attention to those posting childish remarks. Most of us that read this forum really appreciate it
