The Captaincy Loophole
By now I’m sure 99% of you are familiar with this but for the newbies… the captaincy loophole is only available in partial lockout rounds like this one and gives you two bites at the captaincy cherry. Here’s how it works:
Tonight, you give the vice captaincy to a Blues or Lions player that you think will go well. Someone like, say, Marc Murphy (who is going to tear the Lions midfield a new one). Then, later this evening after he has scored 216, you put a player on your field who isn’t going to play this week – someone like James McDonald, or Luke Parker, or Haydn Ballantyne – and you make them captain. Voila! Your Vice Captain’s score counts double as your captain’s score.
If, for some inexplicable reason, Murph doesn’t go crackers tonight like we’re all expecting (eg he was put off by the bloke in the stands who had travelled up from Melbourne and was being a little too loud with his support of The Mighty Blues in his box), you give the captaincy to Pendles or Gablett or Levi tomorrow before lockout and nothing’s been lost.
So, first poll, will you be taking advantage of the loophole
If you answered ‘Yep’ aboove, who will you be VC’ing tonight?
