Darren Jolly ($450,400, 83.08, 13) – Darren had a year to forget in 2012. Hampered by a knee injury all year he was forced to end a consecutive run of games that dated back to rd 8 2005. In saying that he still managed to punch out his 2nd highest average in his career, a modest 83.1. His highest average was his last year at the Swans (92.9) so he has never been a huge scorer. He’s not the same type of player as a Cox or Sandilands as he just doesn’t get his hands on it enough. Gives away too many free kicks as well. At his age I’d pass.
Jarrod Witts ($106,600) – Jarrod is another to come from Collingwood’s NSW scholarship program. At just 19 years of age he already stands 209cm (last time the club measured anyway). The former rugby player represented NSW/ACT in the TAC Cup and under 18 championships. He averaged more Champion Data ranking points and disposals per game than any other ruckman at the carnival and averaged the most ranking points of any NSW/ACT player. The baby giant has been noticeable on the track for obvious reasons. He is often seen still training after other players have left the track which is impressive for someone so early into his career. Really wants that second ruck spot and he also has the agility to play forward. Great 4th ruck option.
Cameron Wood ($408,800, 75.42, 12) – We all know ruckmen take more time to develop, so at just 24 years and 10 months old Cameron Wood’s best footy is in front of him, right? Probably, but no one really knows what that is. So far he hasn’t shown a lot to suggest its going to be anything special. His highest tally of games in one season is just 13 and his highest avg score is 77.3 in 2009, before Jolly came into the team. Stay well clear.

Jolly …pass ..yesterdays hero
woods..pass.. ???
witts … sounds like a good rookie down grade. If he gets his chance latter on in the year he should be a worthy pick up .

Jolly should be fine, hopefully last years injuries are behind him, he has a history of playing, but as an older player will have to be monitored. Not someone that is in my SC radar at the moment.
Wood is not SC material atm, although that might change if he gets an extended run @ R1.
Witts will struggle to get much of a look this season imo if the above two are fit.

I think Witts will get a go this year as a forward before he starts becoming a genuine ruckman. He has been likened to Sandilands because of his height, but the club insists he’s more in the mould of a Kurt Tippet type of player.

It is a possibility, although I’m not sold on the chatter that insists that Witt will play this year, but, I am aware of the ‘wraps’ on the kid.
