The Fallen Premiums – 2013 Preseason Edition (Midfielders)

Written by MJ on March 18 2013

Nat Fyfe $498,800; 2012 average 94, 2011 average 108

The teen wolf may forever be a risky proposition to SuperCoachers as we will always be living in fear that his shoulder will pop out at any given time, however I believe this is a case of potential reward > risk. In just his 2nd AFL season, Fyfe blitzed the competition with 11 games over 115 points! My favourite player in the competition when fit, 14 votes in 8 matches last season says he has what it takes to be a Brownlow Medallist.

David Mundy $477,300; 2012: 89.2, 2011: 107

Mundy is an interesting one this season and could be a genuine smokie premium midfielder. After the first 8 rounds of 2011, he was sitting on an unrivalled 126.6 average before a serious leg injury brought a halt to his campaign. Found his feet in the latter stage of the 2012 season, scoring 100+ in 7 of his last 8 matches including the finals series. A very reasonable selection, which could pay massive dividends if he starts the year as he did in 2011. Has had a big preseason.

Brent Moloney $362,400; 2012: 67.6, 2011: 99.2

The former demon looks to be slotting in nicely amidst the Lions midfield and I expect him to do well this season. Will no doubt appreciate in value after a solid preseason shows he will see plenty of the pill. Never been an super elite midfielder in terms of SuperCoach output, but if he returned to something similar to the 99.2 average he accumulated at Melbourne in 2011 he’d be a great acquisition at such a discounted price.

Watchlist:

Luke Hodge $459,500; 2012: 85.8, 2011: 106.4

IF he can get over his injury woes, and IF he can find some form again, Hodgey would be a steal at this price. Keep an eye on him once he makes his way back into AFL football. Still only 28 years of age.

  1. I have Fyfe.. Should ave 110+ if fit and plays all season.. That is a big if though.. Bargain price otherwise.

  2. not 100% on fyfe ,s dodgy shoulder ? . could be worth a gamble at his cheap price , but i will pass on him . I really don’t think he will be in the top 10 midfielders this year (hope i am proved wrong ), better options elsewhere.

  4. I know he is $555K but ROK is sitting in my midfield. After his massive run home last season I reckon he is under-priced. What do you think MJ?

  5. Have had them all at some stage, but have decided to revert back to GnR strategy that works well. I know we have extra trades but picking fyfe is a trade wasted. Hes had problems on his shoulder the last two games he played in preseason
