The Fallen Premiums R17, 2013

Written by MJ on July 25 2013

Have been on the go all week seeing everything there is to see in Paris. As a result, I just haven’t found the downtime to bring you this round’s edition of Fallen Premiums. Instead I’m going to give the community a chance to flaunt what they’ve got in the analytical department.

So, I’m donning the red sub vest, whilst you remove the green. With fresh legs on the field, I’m hoping you can make an impact.

Let the SCT community know who you think are the best bargain premiums on offer this week.

Merci beaucoup!

  2. Defender – C Enright 480k 94.3 BE 67
    Midfielder – A.Swallow 461k 102.8 (BE113 so could wait 1)

  3. Defender – Paul ‘Duffman’ Duffield ($389,400, $-107,300, 85.92, 140) Scoring only 51 in his last game but was coming back from injury could be a handy pod given Freo’s cushy run home.

Midfielder – Marc ‘Skid’ Murphy ($376,000, $-226,900, 91.67, 53) At that price even I’m tempted in bringing him as a pod.

    Ruck – Paddy ‘Night’ Ryder ($470,100, $-94,200, 92.67, 121) I like his name 😉

Forward – Cyril ‘Sizzling’ Rioli ($426,300, $-101,000, 92.88, 107) Has a high ceiling (140+) and could make a nice pod come SC finals time.

  4. Defenders:

    Greg Broughton (F) $386, 400. Avg: 77.75

I feel rotten for even suggesting this guy, but he has scored 127 and 96 in his last 2. Of course, before that he had a 5 week average of 67. You’d have to be very brave – or very foolish to bring him in.

    Tim Mohr $341, 800 Avg: 73.31

93, 70, 109 in his last 3. Not a fallen premium by any standard, but here he is anyway. Make of those scores what you will.

    Paul Duffield $389, 400. Avg: 85.92

I brought him in back in Round 12 and I’ve been extremely disappointed.
He’s missed 1/3 of the games and given me scores of 71, 79, 49 and 51. Spare yourselves the misery.

On the other hand he did come home like a freight train last year, so if any of you can mind-control Ross Lyon into giving him the favourable rebounding half-back role, he could be a bargain.

    Goodness, I hate defenders…

    Onto the Midfield.

    Trent Cotchin $518, 500 Avg: 111

Still about $100k cheaper than he was at the start of the season, Trent has 4 tonnes in the last 4 weeks, culminating in a 137 v Fremantle.

    Josh P. Kennedy $498, 700 Avg: 109.38

Hasn’t replicated the highs of 2012, but is a good, solid, cheap midfield option. Should average at least 105 from here on out.

    Marc Murphy $376, 000 Avg: 91.67

Is his 103 a return to form? Whether it is or isn’t, $376k is an absolute bargain for a player of his capability. With a finals spot still up for grabs, will Marc lead from the front, or will the pressure be too much?

    Brett Deledio $464, 600 Avg: 103.88

Was tagged out by Crowley last week. His ability to smash a game open and deliver monster scores is also his weakness, for he is one of the first players at Richmond to cop the tag. If you can take the good with the bad, Lids is cheapish selection capable of monster scores.

    Nathan Fyfe $468, 800 Avg: 103.5

Topped Freo’s disposal count last week with 27, but was let down with 5 clangers and a disposal efficiency rating of 59%. The lad’s a star, and if he polishes his game off, he could be a Supercoach Superstar. I’m sure I don’t have to remind you how good Fremantle’s run home is…

    Rucks:

    Ben McEvoy $472, 300. Avg: 101.1

Not as consistent as some, and can swing between the 70’s to 130’s, but he is the number one ruckman at the Saints and should average around 100.

    Forwards:

    Dustin Martin $474, 200 Avg: 102.8

Perennial breakout tease Martin looks to have turned a corner this year. Still prone to inconsistent scoring, he’s done enough to be a mainstay in Supercoach forward lines.

    Cyril Rioli $426, 300. Avg: 92.9

Cyril’s defensive pressure and innate talent means that even if he doesn’t see a lot of the ball, he can still rack up a nice score – (with the capacity to go big). A little concern with injury risk, but as they say, fortune favours the bold…

    Nick Riewoldt $476, 500 Avg: 106.6

Amazingly, St Nick is the fourth best averaging forward this year (3rd if you discount 1-gamer Cory Dell’Olio), and although he hasn’t reached his early-season form, he scored 134 in his last game.
