The Fallen Premiums, R2 2015

Written by MJ on April 15 2015

Price changes occur at the conclusion of round three, which signals the return of the real stuff. While much of the focus in the SuperCoach world is fixated on who has jumped out of the blocks (as it rightly should be after R2), some astute coaches will be looking towards the next week or two. Why? There are always premiums that start slowly, resulting in a price drop to bring them below their intrinsic worth.

Here are the top 10 premiums who you may want to keep tabs on this week. They could possibly be slashed in excess of $50,000 after Round 3. Come back at the same time next Wednesday for a more detailed look at the most attractive price drops.

Player (Price; R1 score, R2 score, BE)

Joel Selwood ($649,900; 69, 110, 205)

Nick Malceski ($566,600; 79, 52, 205)

Brent Harvey ($578,900; 54, 91, 197)

Stefan Martin ($600,200; 67, 98, 192)

Dayne Beams ($621,000; 108, 73, 188)

Travis Boak ($568,200; 82, 68, 186)

Marc Murphy (570,000; 64, 93, 182)

Matt Priddis ($606,200; 78, 106, 176)

Aaron Sandilands ($580,800; 69, 102, 174)

Luke Parker ($583,000; 98, 78, 169)

  1. I’m hoping Malceski has another couple of average weeks and his price can get down to $425K – $450K around the byes. He would then be an absolute upgrade target – just think he is still getting used to the new team and GC are a better team than how they are playing at the moment.

  2. Not ‘fallen premiums’ but two possible premiums to watch,
    Brodie Smith – Def, $502K (144, 117) and
    Bontempelli – fwd/mid, $422K (126, 142).

I’m after one of the two, leading towards Bonts but a defender with that average is tempting too.

  4. Trading out GAJ for Sloane. Should my second trade be Goodes for Oxley or Maric for Goldstein. I feel like I need to be told not to trade out a premium because it’s just wasting a trade!

  5. Selwood will be ripe for the pickings in a few weeks! Hope Malsexi can pump a few more lower scores the next few rounds while he finds his feet at the Suns and he will be a bargin pick, set to drop by 100k!

  6. Great to have the Fallen Premiums articles back, you do a fantastic job MJ and your hard work and research is much appreciated. Luckily, I just have Selwood from that list. The only players that I would consider bringing into my team when prices drop are Malceski, Beams, Priddis and Parker. As a GENERAL rule, I only look to bring in players that I think will be in the top 10 point getters in their position. I definitely think Mal will be in the top 10 defenders and the other 3, most likely on the fringe of the top ten mids

  7. The good oil I heard was Jelwood has a torn quad and is playing through it (i.e. see his handball to kick ratio this year). Not sure how long they take to heal but he could become a bargain if it isn’t a long term problem.

  8. I only have Boak out of that group – what to do with him?? I brought him in as a POD but has looked quite ordinary.

  9. As much as I love watching Cyril and testing the industrial and tensile strength of the elastic stitching in the front of my trackie dack seams when I see the young lad play I love my SC ohhhhhh its almost as speshal…

But year after year Brucies Pumpers (hidden team) has noticed a trend with his scoring and trading.

Brucies Pumpers always start well and score of around 2100 and 2200 and then once trading begins the score seemingly drop for a few weeks. Infact a lot of times it takes the Pumpers (previously called the YankJackers) until mid season to score 2500+ scores. Yet I see round 1 scores of 2400+ which would mean with a score like that who needs to trade? with just under 2300 round 2 this year I think the Pumpers will be patient with trades. My first ever team BruciesPorkSword was banished to the lower percentages but not this year. After going from round 1 40,000 ranking to a round 2 ranking of 8000 I will be holding trades. Or this team will fold at the end of the season if its not a high percentile finish and I will start planning for BruciesMeatedPipe 2016 campaign

  10. Don’t have any of them but eyeballing Priddis, Eski & Duckwood in couple of weeks, seems to be 3 years in a row where Selwood drops to 550kish after a couple of games then goes bang
