The Fallen Premiums – R5

Written by MJ on April 27 2017

Defenders

Heath Shaw $485K (-$91.3K) AVE 86.2, BE 113 & Kade Simpson $472K (-$105.9K) AVE 82.4, BE 102 – Both of these rebounding defenders have featured prominently in The Fallen Premiums in 2017, much to the distaste of their current owners. Whilst neither of them set the world on fire with 92 and 91 respectively this week, they are now down to somewhat manageable breakevens and will only go lower in price with further off games.

Michael Hibberd $402K (-$0) AVE 124, BE N/A – Just keep an eye on Hibberd this week, after scoring a more than serviceable 124 in his first game for Melbourne. A former 95.9 averaging player back in 2013 would be a handy collect at this low price, which is already discounted.

Hibberd gets fired up over his first goal in a Melbourne jumper. Are you getting fired up about grabbing him for a tick over $400K in the next one/two weeks?

Coming down:
Rance BE 151
Montagna BE 150
Docherty BE 132
Adams BE 131
Boyd BE 131

Midfielders

Adam Treloar $558K (-$46.5K) AVE 105.0, BE 114 – Treloar was the second best midfielder this week with 141 points, silencing some critics and journalists for labeling him the ‘Turnover King’ midweek. Lifting his disposal efficiency would have a huge effect on his scoring, but ANZAC Day shows he’ll still be in for some massive scores this year.

Robbie Gray $559K (-$37.7K) AVE 100.4, BE 114 – Was sensational against the Blues, kicking 5.4 in what could have easily been a 7 or 8 goal haul. If you can deal with his topsy turvy form lines, he’s worth a punt as a point of difference in your midfield.

Coming down:
Martin BE 196
Pendlebury BE 187
Dangerfield BE 180
S.Mitchell BE 162
Bontempelli BE 154
Murphy BE 142

Rucks

Todd Goldstein $509K (-$78.7K) AVE 85.0, BE 115 – Our old mate Goldy is still underperforming, with an 87 against the Dockers. Starting to head into great value territory if he can resume the form we’re used to seeing though.

Coming down
Grundy BE 128

Forwards

Josh J. Kennedy $491K (-$41.1K) AVE 101.6, BE 101 – He astounded us with 174 in the opening round, but has averaged just 83.5 since. Has come down over $40K as a result. He’s scored tons in each of his last three derbies including a 7 goal, 141 point match in R20 last year. With the Eagles taking on the Dockers this week, he’ll have his tail up for another big game.

Lance Franklin $464K (-$50.6K) AVE 89.8, BE 124 – With not too many elite forwards down in the price department right now, Buddy stands as one of the few options in the Fallen Premium category among the front six. Averaging a semi-respectable 90 points across the first five games is not too bad considering Sydney have been really struggling to get out of the blocks this year. Watch for an upturn in form for the Swans and Buddy will become a bargain.

Coming down:
N.Riewoldt BE 158
Higgins BE 130

  1. Double downgrades for the next two weeks and then hopefully Bont, Adams, Roo and Doch should all be ready for the taking

  2. Nice work, MJ! Wouldn’t mind getting Buddy or Homer into the team this week. Problem is a lack of funds/cash generation from the rookies (and I think I’m not alone there)……..

  3. I think Hanners is a great FP option this week. Great record over the last two years (112 ave or so), and his shaky start to this season looks to be over (tonning it up nicely last two rounds). I plan on bringing him in this week, great value at around $550 000.

    T/U – Nice!
    T/D – Not convinced.

  4. Is Kieren Jack likely to spend more time in the midfield when he returns from injury? I’m not massively interested in him from a Supercoach standpoint, but he has just been given forward status in Fantasy, so he could be a great pickup in that format a couple of weeks from now.
