The Grannie

With Chas out the way I thought we’d better kick off a new thread for GF posts.

Feel free to post any murmurs you hear about potential winners at any of the horse races on the weekend. PA, I expect you to strictly verify whatever you hear after some of the tips you’ve been giving us over the last month.

  1. St Kilda to win a tight battle – 16 points…
Lenny Hayes to take out the Norm Smith – although I’d love to see Goddard or Montagna on the podium instead.

    1. What about this??

St Kilda one point ahead and with seconds left Travis Cloke takes a mark 45 metres out. Interchange infringement against St Kilda so Cloke gets moved to the goal line. Siren goes. Cloke puts it out on the full and St Kilda wins it’s second premiership for the second time over Collingwood and for the second time by one point.

  2. Riewoldt’s gotta be a good show for the Norm Smith. He’s one of the few players in the match that could snare it in a losing team and if the Saints win there’s a fair chance he’s had a good day out. Good odds as third favourite too.

  3. Saw the Herald Sun story about the WAFL Gand Final and Andrew Krakour. Champion Data did his Supercoach points for the game and he got 290 points, including 146 in the last quarter alone… amazing

      1. Thanks mate, I take that from a Caaarlton bloke. Oddly enough I’m a happy little vegemite this morning.

        I have watched Collingwood play in 10 day GF’S for 2 wins, 2 draws & 6 losses.

Commiserations to St.Kilda and all the St.Kilda people who frequent this site. Your time will come, stay strong and keep the faith.

  5. Dave here. Anyone remember me from the little battle ‘Dave Vs Nick’ in the ‘players to consider in 2011’ thread??

Well, Nick absolutely grilled me for being too Collingwood bias when it came to my tips.. Well let me just take you through the Collingwood players that I mentioned. Note: This thread was roughly around round 12-14.

    1. Scott Embereney – I stated he would explode in 2011, becoming an upwards of 120ppg supercoacher. Well his Norm Smith medal says hello Nick.

    2. Daisy Thomas – I said that if he keeps his fwd eligibility then he will be a popular pick and that he will continue to improve in 2011. Daisy’s finals series waves to you Nick.

    3. Steele Sidebottom – Said that this bloke will continue to improve in 2011 and that he will no doubt average 90+ in 2011. Well Sidey’s two GF performance give you a big cheerio Nick.

    4. Dayne Beams – I mentioned that if Beamer was to gain mid/forward eligibility that he would be a great option. Not a great finals series, but more midfield time in 2011 and entering his 3rd year could see him explode. And he IS a gun! Hi Nick.

    5. Ben Reid – Key back that was still eligible for the Rising Star award and will continue to improve. If his price is low-mid then he may be a viable option as a starting back 7. Reid’s premiership medal and continued improvement would like to say G’day to you Nick.

Collingwood Football Club – 2010 AFL Premiers.

If you don’t like it, then get out!

    1. Is Scott Embereney as good a prospect as Scott Pendlebury?

Kinda remember your debate with Nick, and agree that those blokes you mentioned are guns, but, with the bye you can’t afford to be too top heavy.
Sidebottom was somebody I was seriously considering coming into this year, but wondered if he would be consistent enough. Next year, I think he might represent value.
Scully and Martin might be excellent value for 2nd year players, but only if they can average 90-110 ppg.
Two blokes I’m really thinking about is Kane Lucas and Marcus Davies from Carlton. They might be great value as I think Bachar Houli will be if he gets to Richmond.
Andrew Krakouer will be a definite for me if he is affordable.
Not sure that Beams will av more than 70-90 next year. but I hope to be wrong on that score.
