The Leader of the Pack

Written by Motts on May 19 2011

OK I’ve got 33 Captaincy options for you here from every team that’s playing this week. If the bloke you’re going to Captainise isn’t in this list, I’ll go he.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Nice one Motts. You forgot Joe Bloggs.

    Conundrum no. 2. Captain choice:

    Swan (green)
    or
    Montagna (red)

Head says Swan; but gut says Montags against the Dees. Tooserious captain analysis supports Montags; but Saints are rubbish. Thoughts?

  2. 211 doesn’t have the best record against Port of late. Two sub ton scores in 2009.

Swanny against the Crows and back at his SC wonderland Etihad. At least 130 coming. Hopefully the game can be reasonably tight to keep him interested.

  3. Rookie strategy question: is it dangerous to rely too heavily on break evens?

    Examples:
    Heppell $357k, AV 88 BE 82, EXP $431k
    Lower $279k, AV 76 BE 69, EXP $369k
    Thompson $264k, AV 77 BE 74, EXP $373k
    Stanley $275k, AV 69 BE 44, EXP $337k
    Batchelor $214k, AV 54 BE 5, EXP $266k

I have used EXP to show the expected price the rookie will reach based on their current average times $4,850 (at the start of the season all prices were based on that measure).

Looking at that, Thompson, Lower and Heppell all have high BEs, which suggests maybe get rid of them. But is that short sighted, given each of them still has about 80k-90k still to rise?

By contrast, Batchelor will go up this week, but he is pretty close to his destination.

Obviously job security, upcoming opponents, potential and consistency are also relevant considerations.

If I want to pick up Puopolo this week, I am thinking Batchelor is the best bet, as Thompson has plenty of cash to make me.

Similarly, it seems stupid to upgrade Heppell or any of my midfield rookies now, when they all still have room for growth and there are no midfields whose prices are about to rise out of reach.

    What do you guys think?

  4. Adcock or Fisher?

I have Deledio, Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Broughton plus rookies.

I will lose in R14 if I pick up Fisher and have both him and Goddard on the bench (no guarantee I will still have Back/Mid mobility for Goddard by then).

I am thinking pick up Adcock now, Fisher after round 14.

    Agree?

  6. Daniel Harris is not listed as injured anymore including on the Suns website. Are we all certain that he will be back next week?

  7. Geez there’s alot of love for Mundy but he’s still only in 5% of teams.

Happy with my POD midfield recruits over the last three weeks – Priddis and Mundy

  8. I thought dean cox would be more valued than 211 , especially coxy being more mobile than 211.

  10. Can I change my choice? I had to bring in big Sandi for McEvoy. Not all bad I guess, but may put the C on my newly aquired player.

  11. Have a guaranteed win in my league this week. Should i consider putting either Mundy or Boyd as captain, or stick with Swan?
