    1. Dobbo!!! Great to hear from you buddy! How’s Nu Yawk? Mate, Jack and Boak are both going to go berserk this year. I’m not paying $600k day 1 for a bloke that I might be able to get for $500k in a few weeks once one of my bench players has appreciated in value.

  1. Defence- pretty unique from what i have seen on other forums, but you need to be unique in my opinion, The only thing i recommend Motts is Andy Otten in for Rohan.

Midfield- I dont mind the strategy of picking players who are about to become super premiums eg. Jack, Boak, Griffen, Murphy. The thing that i will suggest however is having to pairs of the same team in Swallow, Bennel & Grigg and Cothcin on the same line the byes could hurt you, so i recommend taking one of those players out, maybe Grigg for another rookie to save some cash to put into another player.

Rucks- Jacobs is on the rise so i dont mind his selection, however i dont think Gorringe will get a run this year, Maybe either upgrade to Petrie or downgrade to someone like Bailey.

Forward- I think it will be Dangerfields year as he should push into the midfield. Fantasy freako says its only a matter of time before he tunrs into Ablett. With Hurley and Henderson i would tend to take the risk with one of them as medium pricers, so maybe with the money you get from downgrading Gorringe if you choose to do that you can upgrade one of them.

Just some food for thought Motts.

    1. Not Motts, but anyway.

With the exception of Shaw (who I NEVER get) I like the defense. Especially like Bruce who is all but locked in for me.

The mid strategy is risky with essentially 6 of 9 being rookies (I know Krak, isn’t but he is far from having a certain place in the Collingwood line-up so he may as well be a rookie)

Strongly considering Ryder as my second ruck, too. With the new bench rules he could be one of the few ruckmen to benefit from the change.

The only thing with the forwards is Chappy, Rioli, Sylvia, Knights and Petrie is not a particularly stable group injury wise (whether returning from or history of). Having said that, I will likely have Knights & Petrie at the very least…

Like it quite a lot overall

      1. Cheers mate dont like Heater myself but he fits my bye strategy.

With my midfield i reckon i will turn Anthony into a super premium before the lockout.

I’m Hoping Chappy stays injury free and Petrie and Knights come back firing as the forward line has the potential to make me some cash.

        Cheers mate

        1. Rustee, can you tell us more about these bye strategies? Maybe if you don’t want to tell your one in particular, then just give me some genereal knowledge about them? Cheers.

          1. Well there are 4 teams who have their byes in both round where there are no SC league games so people who are going for the league are picking lots of these players so that when league games are on all their players bar injurys and suspensions will be playing, this however will make their overall ranking plummet seeing as they wont have many of their gun players in the bye rounds for league, where overall points from those rounds are still counted.

The strategy i am using for overall is trying to have no more then 2 players who have the bye in the same round including my starters and bench so for example just say the hawks, fremantle and st.kilda were to have their bye in the same round i wouldnt be picking Hodge, Goddard and Pavlich in my midfield i would only choose 2 of them.

Now to add to the league strategy people who are going for the league are trying not to pick premiums who have their bye in the finals otherwise they may have to waste a trade those teams that have their bye in the SC league finals are Geelong, NM, Essendon and Carlton

            Hope that is helpful mate

  3. Hey Motts,
Firstly, hope the LOECs gets up again this year, looking forward to a good SC year (although, aren’t we all at this time of the year?).
Secondly, only have 8 the same in the very rough draft of the Cottagers, so happy with that.
Thirdly, agree with Dobbo. Happy to concede that Jack and Boak will play well but quite a few will start with the three of the likes of Judd, Monty, Swan, Murph, Hodge, etc and I just can’t see Jack, Boak and the other three (I think 80% at least will start Swallow Jnr on the ground, so he is a moot point) competing with them. for eg., Varcoe and Grigg or Pendles and Harris…

  4. Gday boys, this is my second year of supercoach so i still don’t have much of a clue about what im doing so im hoping you guys will help me.
The team i have at the moment is
Backs: Brendon Goddard, Corey Enright, Sam Fisher, Josh Drummond, Bret Thornton, Jed Adcock, Nathan Krakouer
(Dyson Heppell, Ben Jacobs, Peter Faulks)
Mids: Dane Swan, Joel Selwood, Ryan O’Keefe, Shaun Higgins, David Swallow, Tendai Mzungu
(Jayden Pitt, Claye Beams, Shaun Atley)
    Rucks: Hamish McIntosh, Kurt Tippett
    (Zac Smith, Ayce Cordy)
Forwards: Nick Riewoldt, Alan Didak, Adam Goodes, Patrick Dangerfield, David Gourdis, Drew Petrie, Dion Prestia
(Isaac Smith, Brandon Matera, John Butcher)

      1. Hey mate,

Backs: Quite solid, not a massive fan of Thornton or Krak. I would be especially weary of Krak in the new GC line-up and with forward tags being more prevalent in the game, cos I reckon he will get it

Mids: Except for the rookies (let’s face it, at this stage of the season people are only vaguely more than guessing the rookies except for the likes of Swallow), again, quite solid. I worry a little about Selwood (with no Gaz, and Corey generally deteriorating), now getting a perma-tag, but if you think he will cope…

Rucks: No Sandi is a big risk IMO

Forwards: Not sure about Gourdis, I’d probably give Butcher a miss and I’m not quite sold on the idea that Dangerfield is on the cusp of greatness just yet, but otherwise, very solid.

        1. Thanks mate, might downgrade selwood to get sandi in my team. and maybe andy otten for thornton. Does Butcher still have that leg problem or whatever he had?

          1. I think that it may have been a back injury? Either way, young, tall forward with injury problems doesn’t exactly spell high scores

  5. Mottsarella, your team reminds me a lot of my strategy this time last year – plenty of mid-pricers ready to burst out. Thing is, I went with all the wrong guys last year. This time round i’m starting with a lot more premiums (esp. in the midfield).

I love your Hurley, Veszpremi and Grigg selections but will see how they go in the NAB Cup before I give them the nod.

And I thought Varcoe had copped a pre-season injury which set him back a bit.

I also wonder who you believe to the the “Captain” option in your team … Riewoldt only – maybe Sandi ? This is where a premium like GOD or Swan become worth their weight – yes they are expensive, but quality always costs !!
