Well, here they are. Here’s some of the thinking that went into the structure and players in the team:
Aiming for – cash league win
Bye strategy – R13 Dive
Ruck structure – after watching Giles’ game last week 1/3
Defenders – other than Lake (who I’ve decided to risk), there seemed to be less value down back than there was up front so I loaded up on an extra premium (Birchall) in the backline. Rueing trading out Bugg. The backline premiums lend themselves beautifully to my bye strategy.
Permacaptain – GAJ.
Midfield – grabbed a couple of blokes (Gibbs and Cotchin) who to me looked underpriced for their potential.
Forwards – Dangerfield came in late when Robbie Gray didn’t get up for R1. Really hoping I don’t regret that one. Other opttions were Jordan Lewis and Mitch Robinson.
Cash left: $75,500.
OK, tear it to pieces.

I like the team. Plenty of good differentials. Are you copping a donut in Rd 1 though? No forward line emergency for Pfeiffer?
No GWS defenders….. Hmmmm interesting.
I don’t hate the team, and don’t love the team… More different to mine than I expected.
JAMES ‘THE MAGNET’ MAGNER
43 IN THE FIRST QUARTER
also nice team Motts 🙂
I like it, probably coz you had the balls to go for a few players I was thinking of but didn’t. Cotchin, Gibbs, Newman and kreuzar
Fair effort Motts,
I have no strategy… byes, injuries and rookie upgrades all played by ear.
Dirty Kelsos 2012
DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Adcock, Lake, Clarke, Mohr, Bugg (Ellis, Boumann)
MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Selwood, Pavlich, Martin, Shiel (Smith (WB), Magner)
RUCK: Cox, Giles, (Redden, Rowe)
FWD: Franklin, Goodes, Fyfe, Hale, Porplyzia, Smith (GWS), Smedts, (Hall, Dickson)
Like it Motts. Thrown in your own personal blue touch. Kruze is your make or breaker. So far so good there though.
Wow that backline is gold plated. Very nice Motts. Why the inclusion of Fyfe with your dive strategy? Cyril & JRoo not in consideration?
I’ve got a very similar side with the key difference being I went a fifth forward (sidebottom) instead of a back. No Pendles is an interesting move.
As an aside Motts, what did you think of Scotland Thursday night? I have him but he looked slow (and old maybe?) so I’m worried.
I like it. My forward line is packed, and my backline is bare – so I went opposite there. However, thus far it looks like your choice was the better with Ellis, Morris, Boumann and Clarke not performing as I had hoped they might (and Sidebottom looking to continue proving why he is a DT specialist).
No pendles. He is the new perma capt!
Backline is so very impressive.
Mids are solid, solid, solid. I love Gibbs. Had him last year and was impressed. Imagine if you had Kennedy on field, you’d have gained 850+ easy! (inc. GAJ as Capt too…)
Up to there I *love* your team.
Rucks -we’ll see.
FWD line the weakness.
Impressive salary cap.
8.5/10
Ha ha, er well Roo Bloke my mids are Pendles, GAJ, Selwood and Murphy! I may have paid the price elsewhere…
Good team Motts!
I like the Kreuser and 3 rookie strategy – I didn’t have the balls to do it!
Honestly, I think your mid is a bit underdone because I don’t see Cotchin AND Gibbs being top 10 in the midfield, which is ideally what you want at the end of the year … unless you are planning to trade one of them out.
I’m surprised that with 5 premium defenders you couldn’y fit Broughton in? Why is that?
But I like the team. Good rookies and mid-pricers well!
Motts, I see you also ended up ditching Rance for Newman..
Like the Kreuzer 1/3 set up, I had that back in January and was pondering a return to it last week, but, am happy with the ruck set up I went with.
Cotchin & Gibbs are interesting p.o.d’s, if they end up as your M 5 & 6, you’ve probably done well.
Everything else is much of a muchness to my eyes, you loaded up the backs, it coulda been a different line.
Hope I’m drawn to play you R 13 😉
