The Meaning Of Fyfe

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 16 2017

Macca is currently sitting just outside the Top1000 and doesn’t want to lose touch with the leaders.ย  He is tossing up whether to give Fyfe his marching orders this week and gain an advantage over the rest of the comp.ย  Dusty? Crippsy?ย  Zorko?

Keeping in mind that the Eagles & Cats played last night, plus Adelaide, Collingwood, Essendon, Freo, GWS & Hawthorn all have the bye.ย  If you have a suggestion for Macca, be sure to leave it here……..

      1. Just check the feeds -> ๐Ÿ˜› Don’t think I could do it. Leaning towards Dusty atm. 40% of top 100 have him but I can’t decide if I want to remove the POD so I don’t fall away or go for the POD to try and catch ground…

  1. I canned him and whilst after pushing the button I had a meltdown, it was 100% the right decision.
Freo aren’t as good as their position, they’ll struggle back end of the year and he’s simply not as damaging as last year. He won’t go 110-120 from here on out and I think there’s 4-5 that will. I was short for the bye so it made my decision earlier but if I was in the running for the prize he’d be gone for the Bont or Dusty.

  2. I was thinking about swapping him for Scooter but didn’t, and I’m taking last night as a sign to hold fire. I’ve already broken the Josh Glenn Rule on multiple occasions this year, I don’t want to anger the SC gods too much by trading premos too

  3. Does have some merit in your overall Macca. With 16 on the field currently, there is that potential to slide a little in the overall so avoiding a donut with any number of available good premos could help, ie Dusty will add significantly to the score this round.

I personally don’t want to trade Fyfe out, however, whatever you do I’ll have to match to stay in the cup, unlike that silly Scooter deal I did last night!!

    1. Haha yeah bad luck on that move mate I thought it was a good one and caught me out! Mind you didn’t hurt you too much as Jelwood couldn’t break the heavy tag anyway

  4. Average in 2015 before the bye = 103
Average in 2016 before the bye = 108
Average in 2017 before the bye = 105.6

Average in 2015 After the bye = 118 (plus 15 points per game)
Average in 2016 After the bye = 120 (plus 12 points per game)
Average in 2017 After the bye = ???.?? currently priced to average about 100

Josh P Kennedy is only $546K and he will be instrumental in Sydney pulling off a fairytale ending by finishing in the top 8.

      1. I can only speak from memory and observance however I think there are 4 types of premiums. Those that start explosively, those the finish strong, those that are unpredictable and those that are consistent.

first – consistent. Players such as Pendlebury, Zorko, Priddis (ablett 2010-2014). these guys punch out the same numbers week in – week out. you know exactly what you will get.

next – Unpredictable. Players Slone, Rocky, Trelor, JJK. These guys can have form drops, effeciency issues, get tagged or can be key position players who can kick bags when thumping lower teams. Also have massive upsides when things go their way.

third – early season bolters. Like J Waite, J McVeigh, bartell, roo, scott thompson. Usually older guys who get a full pre-season in but fall away towards the end of the year. sometimes it is players from teams who start well but fall back and sometimes it is the older player who runs out of steam.

last – strong finishers. JPK is renowned for this. other examples are jelwood 2013-2015), jordan lewis, montagna (2013-1015), nicnat, sauce jacobs, goldy, (rocky and slone can also fall in this category). these guys build into the season and come home strong. generally guys who perform in the business end of the season.

PS – this is just my opinion. i can give you stats if you are interested

        1. oh, and I’m not trading Fyfe. He falls into the consistent category. He is injured, he misses Sandi and he can only improve from here. If he gets dropped/succumbs to injury and i still have trades, then i might trade him. Or more likely upgrade bench cover.

  5. I wouldn’t be trading Fyfe this week.

Unless you are top 1000 wanting a POD, or have 15+ trades and looking at a donut.

Just ask the coaches that traded Hanners and Trelore early.

I’m backing him to come good. I think he has been playing sore and the week off will do him wonders.

Just think if Fyfes ownership was under 10% would we all be jumping on him as a fallen premo POD for under $500K?

Freo does not need to be a good team for Fyfe to score well.

Beams, Zorko and Rocky all play for the Lions.

Come finals time. If he is still averaging sub 100. I may reconsider if I have trades up my sleeve.

For now, if Fyfe is fit. He is in my side.

    1. I traded Fyfe to The Bont. I read he has been carrying an injury the last few weeks. (Sore sternum). Still he is a champion and could easily get back to his best. Just think Bontempelli might perform better overall.

My midfield is : Rocky, D. Beams, Bont, Murphy, Danger, Ablett, Sloane, T. Mitchell.

I’m pretty new to SuperCoach. I traded out treloar (for Sloane), so l hope Fyfe gets better but doesn’t outscore The Bont.

  6. I’m not trading him as I will easily beat my opponent in my main league match up this week. I do only have 17 on the field but I’m conserving trades until the finals/using them on upgrading to full premium.

The question though is if you were going for overall and were close to the top…

Assuming you didnt have a full 18 on field, In this case I would be trading him to Dusty. The extra points you will get from him just this week will be around 100 which is a lot when you’re comparing with whos around you. Then there is the extra points youll be getting each week.

  7. Good comments everyone. Anyone got any info on the possible taggers in teams that the likes of Dusty, Rocky and even GAJ may cop this weekend and in the following weeks??
For instance, will the swans tag Dusty and with who? I don’t think Dusty goes that well against the tag, yeah?
Rocky can handle a tag OK I think can’t he?
Even GAJ can handle a tag but how does he fare against Levi or Curnow? ( they are most likely yeah?)

It would be a waste to pull the trigger on the trade and then have that player only score 70 like Selwood last night with the tag!!

Cheers all and I’m sure this thread will be helping a few with their decisions on this topic!

    1. Swans are set to put Hewett onto Dusty this week, just like JJ last week. Rocky won’t get tagged, not damaging enough – Beams/Zorko would pull it first. GAJ laughs at a tag, regardless who it is. Smashed out 130+ on a weekly basis when in his prime against the likes of Curnow/Greenwood and Crowley.

      1. I like George, but I’m not sure anyone can tag Dusty at the moment. You need to gang up on the sucker, he’s too strong one-on-one.

It might not matter anyway – afl.com.au are reporting that Martin left training early with back soreness. My guess is he’ll still play, but who really knows?

  8. I’m not sure what the fuss is about, the guy’s averaging just shy of a 100 and is currently priced at a player ave 85.He was always going to start slow after a broken leg and the bye could not have come at a better time for him. I still think he’ll end the year with an average of between 105-110 and for him to do that he’ll need to come home ave 115.All for a player currently priced at 480k, great deal!

  9. I was all over the trade out of Fyfe early in the week. Then I took a breath of fresh air and realized that quite a few rookies are looking to ripen with great timing for upgrades and there are a couple downgrade options on the horizon.

So, I’m fielding 18 this week and holding Fyfe and all trades. (If anything I’ll move SPP up to Lynch (GC) or any FWD and next week a likely 1up1down).

If anything first, look how your ideal team progression will work out over the next few weeks and your how your trade/$ situation will go over that time. If you’re still holding true to your gameplan then you could consider using a ‘luxury’ trade now. However, I feel like trading Fyfe will be a step backwards for next week.

Given my situation (Rank 16k, 11trades left, $325k, 4 spots to fill) it feels like a wasted trade. Depends on your personal $/trade situation but if you can bump a rookie up, I’d hold Fyfe as others may not only be regaining him, but looking to add other Premos next week aswell.

Good luck in your decisions! For what it counts, the early week move would have been Fyfe to Dusty, or Fyfe to Macrae and Lynch (GC) with SPP gone. My forward line is putrid so that second option may only pertain to me.

  10. Yep my mids and forwards are complete (or were until Steele out) and I need 1 or 2 in def. Thanks to Steele out I am down one this week and thus in the luxury trade space, so to speak. I may not trade, it is useful to consider possibilities and garner opinions … and this year is not the ‘normal’ SC year!!

Besides this is a very topical discussion at the moment!! Beams is also in the mix!!. #outsidethesquare!!!

    1. Beams/Kruezer is a combo I am thinking of but I feel like that is committing SC Suicide though as there isn’t enough trades in the world to fix that mess god forbid both go down. Best of luck with your decision!
