The Monday Round-up R13

by Motts on June 28, 2010

Thank God that’s over. With only one game of football played in Melbourne over the weekend I didn’t know what to do with myself.

Ended up with 2132, a win over Duck and a couple of big losses in my other leagues. The disappointments? Where do I start. Goodes, Cooney, Hodge, Pav, Didak, ROK, Pods and of course my man Krooz.

The big decision now: who to bring in for him?

Don’t let him talk you out of it before the contest starts, Cam F.K.A.C, you know how these Caaarlton types like to talk themselves up. They lack the Collingwood humility.
Does that other Cameron even post here anymore?

“Collingwood humility” is a contradiction in terms.

Definitely one trade for me this week, CFKAC. Krooz has to go. Who comes in for him and whether I make a second trade are the questions I need to make up my mind about.

fair enough, i will have to make at least one trade as well this week…but im thinking of making 2. Will have to wait and see how the injury list is…I’d rather drop this H&A game to you, and beat u in the finals, when it counts :P

Got this from fanfooty:

Paul Chapman may sit out again.
Ryan O’Keefe pulled a groin muscle late in the Saturday night game and will be tested during the week.

If Bartel sits as well, that’s some major firepower that’ll be sitting on the pine for you, Cam.

Has he been hindered for the past 9 weeks?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Happy go lucky June 29, 2010 at 10:58 am

ROK’s last 9 weeks.
78 v COLL, 101 v Power, 93 v ESS, 50 v HAW, 90 v FREO, 30 v WB, 69 v GEEL, 96 v BL, 103 v WC
2 X 100+, 3 X 90+, 2 X 50-90, 2 X < 50
More than 50% of ROK's scores are over 90.
Scored 78 & 69 v 2 of the 3 strongest teams in the league.
Spudded it up twice.
ROK has been above average, but, not elite. There have been a lot of forwards in this category this year.

Jolly’s ton on the weekend and attractive price puts him squarely in my sights.

I honestly hope Ratts goes with Hampson over Warnock. Might have to place a call to him.

nice one motts…. yeah jolly might be coming good at the right time . but Hampson might be needed in the forward line against freo , and its a tough tast to ruck 100% against sandilands alone, so in comes his old sparing partner warnock …ex freo

Jolly has been getting better and better, and has been in my thoughts, but I have Sandi & Cox and see no real reason to change.

Ruckmen this year -apart from Sandi- seem to be having little purple patches of great form before succumbing to injury/bad form/suspension/inconsistency.

Cam- formerly known as Cameron June 28, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Jolly is getting better each game. He just needed time to adapt to the Pies’ game plan, and now he is putting down the midfielder’s throats…looking great. History shows that he is a good scorer, so now would be the best time to get him IF you want him…personally I do…At the start of the year I was planning to upgrade Naitanui to him, hoping Nic Nat would rise in value, but that hasnt been the case, and it’s Jolly that has lost the value, so now he is a good price, and IMO he will be a premium later in the year…. IMO he will be great come finals time…

I’m monitoring the Cox situation and may need to make the change across to Jolly, but we’ll see. I’m not planning on trading this week, so even if Cox misses, it might be time for Trengove or Warnock to come in and do a job for me.

Gotta give a big wrap to Dustin Martin, whose last 3 games have yielded 96, 99 and 98. Most coaches would have cashed him in by now but his value has reached $399,300. Being low on trades, he has proven to be a handy M6 over the past month.

Special mention to the big Skipper whose 87 (in Hille’s place) would probably have annoyed my opposition.

Looking forward to the return of Higgins, Hille and possibly Gram next round.

Pretty happy with the side atm. Just sitting outside the top 5000 which i am reasonably happy with. On top of my league as well undefeated but playing the second placed team this week. All this with both J Brown and Higgins out of my line up.

Really happy with these players.
Waters and Dustin Martin. Both were tradable but now look to be keepers.

Even happier with
Gilbert and Gilbee finally i traded in players that have actually done some scoring since i got them, honorable mention to Didak as well.

Not happy with
Nic Nat, should cut him some slack i suppose as he is just a second year ruckman but has done nothing for a while. Hopefully the break will help him.

Lastly

Great to have a few cash cows coming good towards the end of the season Davis, Roberton and J Trengove of the Port variety. Now if i could just get Shuey on the park…..

I find it amazing that the Saints would not extend his contract after going to all the effort to extract him from North. Possibly he desrves his fate, as North were prepared to look after him and really wanted him to stay, but, St.Kilda has really spudded up their trading @ the last draft. Good for us, getting Luke Ball for nothing, who would’ve been getting good game time for the Saints this year.

ho hum. getting a bit concerned. too many players under performing have cost me 2 narrow league defeats in recent weeks. Would love to upgrade nic-nac, davis and J. Trengrove, but alas no money in the bank and 5 trades left mean it’s sit back and see what happens until finals time.

and england got tonked by the germans.

I would prefer to see a poll on people’s intentions regarding Nick Riewoldt. He is due back sometime between this week and the Collingwood game in 3. Will people jump straight on him @ 599k? Will they avoid him b/c of price/injury? Will people watch him to see if he re-injures/scores badly/drops in value?
I don’t know about anybody else, but, I am bloody curious.

Well, you would have to wait at least 2 more weeks, coz his breakeven is 185, with the 25 still adding…he should plummett, but if he scores well and looks alright, he HAS to be considered….if people will have trades left…

true, but chance are he wont pull a massive score like that, he should still drop a bit. I know he’s a gun, he was my first picked player..but it might be best for him to get match fitness first…there is a risk of not having trades to get him in….

Thats the next question, if you decide to bring Roo in, who do you trade out. jPod is averaging 99, so I’m going to hold onto him, I think.
I got 158k in reserve so I can pretty much trade in my least perfrming forward.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Cam- formerly known as Cameron June 28, 2010 at 5:15 pm

yeah thats my concern aswell- pods is really only my main option, although i can easily get rid of cloke, but he is my smoky, and has done well so far this year…i currently have Chapman, Goodes, Okeefe, Franklin, CLoke, Podsiadly, Higgins with Hitchcock and Davis emergency…

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Cam- formerly known as Cameron June 28, 2010 at 5:17 pm

also, J.Brown might be a handy player come finals time if he can get his fitness up…but Voss said he will be 4 weeks out, so it may be too long…but who knows?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Happy go lucky June 28, 2010 at 5:33 pm

What is Trav averaging? Is it more or less than 90? I’m thinking it’s about 82 which makes him expendable, but I’d flip Hitchcock if I could which gives you stronger bench flexibility.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Cam- formerly known as Cameron June 28, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Yeah Trav is averaging 84, but he has scored 159 and 132…and also 50′s…which is expected. He might be the one to go, but he should rip apart west coast this week, and a few more clubs, so i will wait and see.

Im going to hold onto hitchcock, because at least he is playing…

Where do I start?, First off Week 1, I wanted to make Murphs VC for the round but forgot to do it before the lockout and ended up with Hodge (67) as VC then Murphs doesn’t play (Karma) so Banny (60) replaces him. Coons 56, Brakes 64 and NicNat’s 48 now i knew it was going to be a crap round for the SkoolOfHardKnocks. Week 2 Chappy pulls out with Hammy soreness so Fyfe (70) replaced him, Pods 26, Varcoe 43 and making Jude captain because it was meant to rain in Sydney, but with the luck I was having of course it didn’t. Now with Waite out for 2, Lake, Hodge, Chappy , Murphs and now ROK all under injury clouds while still having Browndawng riding the pine, it looks like the torture isn’t over yet, bring it on.

RD 13
Score: 2191
Won all 3 leagues
Currenty 1st, 7th and 3rd in my three leagues
Average 2181

Highs: Ablett, Barlow, Goddard, Tippett, Ball
Lows: Nic Nat (going), Goodes, Pods (giving him slack),

I have a few injury concerns, including: Broughton (going), Higgins, Bartel, Chapman, and O’Keefe.

I verse Motts this week, so it should be a close game…almost identical averages…
