Written by Motts on March 19 2012

And here we are. The last few days before (partial) lockout.

Who got cut over the weekend and who managed to wangle their way into your team based on their NAB Cup peformances?

  1. No In’s

Possible out McEvoy?? Hasnt set the world on fire pre-season but maybe a Sainter can give us some inside knowledge on it.

  2. Travis Cloke and Kreuzer have smashed my door down to get in.
Still no closer to deciding which Rookies (Other than Ruck) I will be rolling with.
Kind of wanted to get it sorted by now to avoid the annual scenario of the SC Site crashing with the mad rush to make late changes. Too many have question marks for mine. Especially blokes like Ellis, Darley, most of the Mids, Smedts, Hall, Kerridge etc. The Big Fella will probably be OK though after a little cry and a coffee.

  3. I find it quite ironic how there’s always a scandal just before the start of the AFL season #ratingsbooster

  4. Guys. My class mate thinks Hargrave is a good buy and is better than Broughton. I said it was the biggest bullshi* I had ever heard.
Hargrave is $280,000 and Broughton is $502,000

    Thumbs up – G.Broughton
    Thumbs down – R.Hargrave

  5. Aren’t the Herald Sun releasing the essential Little Black Book this year? I have both my teams pretty well finished, but have usually enjoyed reading through it in the final week.

  6. This is one for the punters out there.(with me not being very good at it)
Can you put down a bet similar to that of the nags where you can go one winner into the next but for AFL?
    ie Haylist into Americain
    to AFL terms
Sydney into Richmond into Hawks etc?
I found that I run a couple of perfect rounds last year and if I just put a little down on the first game and let it roll the you can come away with a bit at the end depending on the odds.

  9. You know what is going to be PAINFULL re rookie selections…

The fact that GWS play a week earlier. We wont know how many rookies from the other teams will line up in Rd 1 and therefore won’t be able to know how many GWS players t pick a week earlier….

For example most of us would be pick Magner or a Couch if we knew they are playing…If they weren’t we’d probably go to the GWS players to replace them..but we need to lock all our GWS a week before ….

  10. I think there is good value to be gained with the backs this year especially the rookies. I can see Ellis, Morris, Bugg and Darley all getting solid game time in the front half of the season with low risk of wearing the vest regularly. There is also a couple of smokies in the lower mid range that may be worth the gamble enabling upgrades to the better defenders. Bugg and Darley played their junior football in the midfield and both have been in the system at GWS for over 12 months. Should average in the 60s. With an upgrade for a top ten defender being approximately an additional 35 points ($190,000.) and with an ounce of luck elsewhere I can see three turning into two premiums at/or before the byes.

Best of coaching to all and may lady luck smile upon you.

  11. I really want to bring Mumford in but it means sacrificing someone for it to happen. so the choice is

    Mumford/Boyd (thumbs up)
    McEvoy/Swan (thumbs down)

  12. THE BIG POLL.
    Massive: Thumbs up
    Mummy: Thumbs down

I’ve been anti Mummy all pre-season, but I am questioning this atm. Should I stick thick with Massive or grab the oversized Swan?

  14. In: M. Clarke, L. Spurr, L. Parker, C. Hampton, J Magner, A. Saad

Out: (from memory) B. Lake, Darley, Wingard, Miles, C. Smith, C. Jeremy

Thoughts? I did this purely to do some juggling and get Parker into the team.

  18. I have finally made up my mind and settled on my premium and mid-priced setup and I am running 1/3 ruck setup but would like to put it out there for approval/criticism for my rookie choices.

D6- Bugg D7- Morris EM- Smedts, Darley
M5- Coniglio M6- Magner EM- Ledger, Shiel
    F6- D.Smith F7- Kennedy EM- Cameron, Hall.

Magner will maybe miss R1 and the same with Shiel but I am willing to cop that and not have to waste an early trade to get them in as I think they will be in the top ranked rookies. Ledger only came on when it was lights out for Lenny but did very well and Watters has been qouted as saying that the Saints will mix youth in but will they vest him? Hall reportedly has a hammy issue but he is cheap and unless someone of his price or less (T.Couch?) gets picked for R1 and he doesn’t then he will stay for the minute. Not so sure on Smedts js but with the injuries at Catland may get a run early then phased out when the rest come back unless he tears it up. Morris is MAR and played well last week but will he go into a backline that supposedly has their rookie in Ellis?

  19. Struggling with the Tiges rookies. Can you see both Morris and Ellis being played early on? or will one be marked as emergency/vest?
