The Movers – R15

Written by Motts on July 6 2011

I’m taking a mid-season break at the moment. Consequently you won’t find the 4 weekly editions of the Movers coming out this week.

So I’m throwing it over to you to chuck into Comments who you think the Thrillers, Chillers and Drillers are at each position: Backs, Mids, Rucks and Forwards.

Put in as many or as few as you like, just try not to re-list ones that are already named so it doesn’t get too repetitive.

  1. As this is my first year on this site, I was wondering what you guys get up to when the footy season ends?

  2. Defender Thrillers
Goddard 161 -Welcome back back to the upper echelon BJ
Patrenko 140-Where did this come from? Will it come again?
Broughton 122- Looks as though Harvs has him planted in the midfield now but will he keep him there? He is in my team so I bloody hope so.

    Chillers
Scotland 82 – Not much to do in the Blues backline this week
Newman 79 – Not much you can do against the Blues midfield this week
Birchill 62 – Played the Pies. Nuff said
Adcock 71- Back in from a broken finger so forgiven for this week. Barely cos he had a great first half then died in the arse.

    Drillers
Heppell -Everyone wanted to trade him out last few weeks then he rips out a ton and BOG against the undefeated Cats. Sssshhhhh!
Shaw Enright Gibbs and Suckling- just keep on keeping on

by LENNY on July 06, 2011

    Thrillers

Brendon Goddard ($460,800, 161, 105.15, 78) – The great “BJ” seems to be back to his terrifying best. With scores of 143 and 161 in 2 of his last 3, his price is extremely attractive if you gave him the flick early on in the season. Also has a good fixture in the next 3. Port (AS), West Coast (ES) and Adelade (ES). If you’ve got trades up your sleeve and you don’t have him, get on.

Corey Enright ($429,600, 113, 99.15, 65) – Forget the bye in round 22, Enright is still very cheap at the moment and with and average of 118 over his last 2, he could be a very handy pick-up. You’d think Geelong’s draw will only get tougher seeing as though they’ve only lost the 1, but from round 17 they’ve got Brisbane, Richmond, Melbourne and Gold Coast and Adelade before they hit the bye.

Sam Fisher ($510,700, 119, 113.15, 100) – Take a bow Sam Fisher. Easily the best supercoach defender of 2011 and just continues to deliver. Has only dropped below the ton once in his past 8, and just 3 for the season, with his highest being 156. As mentioned with Goddard’s, has a very tasty next few games coming up.

    Honorable mentions: Matt Suckling, A.Carrazzo, S.Gilbert, G.Broughton and B.Gibbs.

    Chillers

Jed Adcock ($341,900, 71, 93.50, 101) – After dropping under 100 just twice in his first 7 games, he has fallen back into the hole. He has averaged just 74 over his last 6 and continues to have a bad run with injuries.

Matthew Scarlett ($343,300, 47, 82.31, 113) – Essondon found a way to shut down the All Australian backmen, giving him his lowest score in the year. It goes to show that when Scarlett’s not on song, Geelong’s not on song.

Matthew Broadbent ($292,100, 56, 67.36, 94) – One of the defenders in Crawf’s supercoach backline and probably not a worthy pick-up. The boy from Woodville has averaged 53 in his last 3 games. Owned by just 0.98% of teams.

    Drillers

Alex Silvagni ($292,000, 97, 99.50, 6) – On the return of an injury that kept him out for long enough, Silvagni has played two games and scored two very respectable scores of 102 and 97. Freo have the bye this week so hold off, but after that, he s very cheap and could be a good buy come finals time.

Daniel Talia ($110,200, 92, 92) – Only played the one game so i wouldn’t be getting him straight in, especially as Adelaide have the bye this week, but there are big wraps on Daniel and he is definitely worth a look at after a good first up game with 15 disposals and laying 5 tackles.

Special mentions: Alex Rance, Jarrod Petrenko, L.Gillbee, A.Raines and M.Hurley.

  6. Rustee’s Mover’s

    Defenders

    Thrillers

Sam Fisher ($510,700, 119, 113.2, 100) – Keeps racking out the large scores. The inform defender, who is well worth the money. Has no byes left and tends to play as a loose defender.

Matt Suckling ($424,400, 106, 98.0, 78)- Three tons on the trot now for one of the most improved players in the comp. Racks up the long effective kicks (SC gold) and is part of the most effective backline in the comp. Racks up touches with the style of the Hawks and has a great finals run, what more do you want. Oh yeah and his CHEAP.

Corey Enright($429,600, 113, 99.2, 65)- Has been in explosive form with teams targeting Scarlett with the forward tag, which has let Enright do his thing. Unfortunately he has a finals bye.

Special Mentions; Goddard, Birchall, S.Martin, Johncock, Scotland

    Chillers

Jed Adcock($341,900, 71, 93.5, 101)- Started the year off in fine form as one of the better defenders. Has since been playing a lockdown role and revealed a finger injury which sidelined him for 2 weeks. He came back with a 71, which was fair but could have been so much better if he hadn’t of had a few niggles after half time.

Nathan Grima($320,500, 38, 73.4, 118)- Is a shadow of the man who averaged a solid 91 last year, can’t seem to regain that form this year and so could well be a player to look at next year.

    Drillers

Greg Broughton($421,000, 122, 94.5, 28)- Greg has gone bang and knocked out a 122 and 145, in the last two weeks, this can account to his time through the middle. Has a bye this week but if you are planning on getting him, next week could be the time as he shouldn’t get any cheaper for the rest of the year.

Nathan Bock($392,800, 109, 85.9, 41)- Nathan has hit his straps for the year and has looked great over the past two with scores of 125 and 109. Could he finally be back to his form at Adelaide? Seems to be playing further up the ground on players that roam the 50m arc.

James Gwilt($395,600, 97, 84.2, 87)- Gwilt has been shadowed this year by the Saints poor form and Fisher’s high scores. Although Gwilt has been very consistent as of late with an average over the last four of 98.25.

Special Mentions; H.Taylor, Newman, Otten, Carrazzo

Will try and get the mids up tomorrow

  7. Any love for Darren Jolly?
Is he a good pickup for the remainder of the season? – Thumbs up.
If not please put your preference in the comments.

  8. Sam Gilbert probably deserves a little more attention.

If you take out his R12 game (33) against the Dogs – where he played forward and Riewoldt drew all the targets and scored a rare ton (101) – he’s averaged 98.8 in the last 5 games. Scored a season high (110) at the weekend in his 100th and looks set to play a big part if the Saints have any chance of salvaging a finals birth.

At $347,600 and with BE 47, plus handy DEF/FOR swichero with Talia/McKernan/R Murphy he could add a little versatility in either your forward or backline. Worth a second thought?

  9. Haven’t seen such a yellow post in a long while. Is that because the Hater has left the building or has the quality of the Movers suddenly increased 😉

  10. Michael Coad finally gone from “indefinate” to “test” on his hamstring in the injury list.
Anyone still got him? Unfortunately I traded him out for Tpy who has been a big winner!
Coad could be a handy downgrade to D8 given his great scores early in the season for those with the trades left.

  11. Ode to PA

A long long time ago, I can still remember how PA’s posts used to make me smile
and I new that if he had his chance, he could still make those postings dance
and maybe he’d be happy for a while
but the first of July made him quiver
with every thumbs down ’twas delivered
bad news on the ‘Talk step
he couldn’t take one more step
I can’t remember if he cried
when those thumbs pointed to the downside
but something touched him deep inside
    the day, Joe’s postings died.

So bye, bye, Mr Bulldogboy pie
Caught the Valiant to the West but the season was fried
Rocket and the boys are drinkin’ cheap bourbon and dry
and singin’ PA will be back with us soon, Joey’ll be back with us sooooon.

I met a boy who had the blues
and I asked him for some SuperCoach news
but he just smiled and went away
I logged on to the Supercoach Talk site
where I’d read his posts often deep into the night
but Mottsy said that PA wouldn’t play
    And in cyberspace Rustee screamed
As Cam cried and HGL still dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The Supercoach Talk polls were broken
And the three men he admired most
BS, Duck and Mottsy the ghost
They drove their new Benz’ to the coast
The day, the HeraldSun bought the site

    And they were singin’
    Bye, bye, Mr Bulldogboy pie
Caught the Valiant to the West but the season was fried
Rocket and the boys are drinkin’ cheap bourby and dry
and singin’ PA will be back with us soon, Joey’ll be back with us sooooon.

Come on mate, we all miss the brash candour that you bring to the debate. That’s what makes this site exclusive to others of this genre and it would be a pity if one of us that logged on at the beginning of last year and helped the three stooges to build this community spat the dummy forever.

PS: well done on the 2550 last week.

(Apologies to Don McLean and all the Gen Ys)

  12. Deano – That’s brilliant. Great start to my day! Well done to all the lads who contributed.
No doubt it is hard work compiling all the relevant information to this site and to Motts who does it week in week out along with Big Sexy and Duck have made this site one of the best that I have seen and use on a regular basis. So to Motts enjoy your season break, thoroughly deserved and I and the rest of the supercoachers look forward to your return. Cheers!

By LENNY on July 07, 2011

    Thrillers

Gary Ablett ($600,300, 185, 129.83, 114) – G.Ablett…. 3 votes. There’s no doubt you’ll be hearing plenty of that on brownlow night. Little Gazza is a hot air balloon at the moment averaging a whopping 148.6 over his last 5. Gold Coast have no more byes and if you have him, you don’t even have to think about who to put captain.

Chris Judd ($474,700, 180, 113.64, 69) – After reaching the ton just once in 4 games, Juddy set fire at the G on Saturday posting his third score above 150. He had 31 disposals, 10 tackles and a handy 2 goals. If you’re looking to upgrade a mid, Judd’s price is still very attractive. Only worry is the bye in round 23.

Ryan Griffen ($503,600, 144, 114.86, 64) – Can’t believe this bloke is owned in just 3.13% of teams. Has dropped below 100 just 3 times and is in magnificent form recently, averaging 139.3 over his past 3. He would make a good POD, though be wary of the dogs bye in round 20.

Honorable mentions: Marcus Murphy, Scott Pendlebury, Nick Dal Santo, Luke Hodge, Scott Thompson, Dale Thomas and Sam Mitchell.

    Chillers

Matthew Boyd ($472,500, 70, 113.71, 155) – The gun midfielder had an excellent run from round 2- round 10, dropping under 110 just once in 8 games. He hasn’t been in the best of form of late, averaging 89 in his past 3. He gets a lot of the ball, but his efficiency lets him down.

Andrew Swallow ($488,900, 72, 108.86, 188) – Swallow has had an interesting supercoach run. His hot for a few weeks, then he drops off for a few weeks. His last two scores are 72 and 83 and the fixture ahead looks mean for swallow. His got the pies, Carlton and Hawthorn in 3 of the next 5 before the bye.

Dustin Martin ($454,600, 55, 102.07, 196) – You can’t fault his endeavor, it’s his 2nd year and he’s still a developing player. Dustin is just too hot and cold. When he gets over 100, gee then there’s no stopping him, he goes on with the job with scores of 168, 128 and 155. He has dropped below the ton a significant 8 times and still averages 102. If he can find the balance and deliver more regularly, he will be amongst the stars.

    Drillers

Adam Cooney ($356,600, 122, 83.10, 4) – I’m telling you now, the brownlow medalist is not going to get an cheaper. He has played 10 games for just 2 tons, those being his last two (122, 124). He is showing signs that he is back to his best, and if he is, get on.

Mitch Robinson ($428,800, 135, 91.62, 59) – The tough nut isn’t cheap, but arguably the most improved player of 2011, he continues to rack up big numbers, averaging 116 in his past 5. He had a poor run from round 3- round 9 with his highest score being 92 in that period. He left that form behind him and is up to a new level. Again, watch out for Carlton’s bye in round 23.

Daniel Cross ($395,400, 100, 94.00, 65) – What has happened to the Cross of 2010 where he averaged 113? Boyd has now taken his no 1 crown. He started off well scoring 4 tons in a row, but dropped off not scoring over 100 in 6 games. Though in saying that, it looks like Cross is just starting to hit the straps, scoring the ton in all of his past 3. If he and Cooney can find the form of 2010, it will be a much stronger team.

Special mentions: Shaun Higgins, Kade Simpson, Heath Hocking, Luke Power, Leigh Adams and Stephen Hill.

By LENNY on July 07, 2011

    Thrillers

Todd Goldstein ($516,700, 138, 114.62, 60) – Well, where do u start? Big Todd is going bananas. After averaging 66 from 21 games last year, Goldstein has taken his game to a whole new level this year. He has only dropped below 30 hitouts 4 times for the year and topped over 40 hitouts 4 times. Poor old McIntosh will struggle to get a gig if Goldy can keep this form up. To add to the party, his scored over 130 5 times.

Ben McEvoy ($495,100, 141, 105.08, 71) – Another ruckman that has also took another step this year, after his average of 63 in 2010. Has shown he has the consistency (hasn’t dropped below 70) and also raised the bat 7 times including 5 on the trot. Also got all his byes out of the way.

Brad Ottens ($418,100, 103, 102.17, 95) – Ottens has really put in the hard yards and it’s paying off. He has been very consistent in 2011 with just 4 scores under 100. Was worried he was falling a little off the boil, but showed what he is capable of on Saturday night with 31 hitouts, 13 disposals and a goal.

Honorable mentions: Matthew Leuenberger, Mark Seaby, Sam Jacobs, Robert Warnock and Darren Jolly.

    Chillers

David Hille ($349,000, 69, 80.50, 114) – Hille just can’t seem to find the potential that he knows his got. He started well with a 134, but since then he has had no luck with injuries and has really struggled with only 1 more ton since RD1 to his name. Has a bye in SC grand final.

Ben Hudson ($354,700, 68, 83.36, 110) – Another one that just can’t find that level of consistency. Like Hille, has only scored the ton twice and that might change if he didn’t give away so many free kicks!

    Drillers

Jonathon Griffin ($387,400, 166, 118.00, 7) – A replacement for Sandilands, and Griffin is proving the perfect replacement for Sandi in your SC team. Scored tons in all 5 games except 1 where he scored 99. The big Sandi won’t be able to get back into the side…. ok, that’s too far. Hold off as Freo have the bye this round, but if you’re looking for a replacement for Sandilands, get on.

Matthew Lobbe ($196,300, 118, 98.00, -58) – On the bubble this week after scoring 78 and 118. Very good job security because of the Dean Brogan retirement. Also very handy as he can also go Fwd. Gets hitouts, disposals and lays tackles. Now is your one and only chance to get him.

Special mentions: Patrick Ryder and David Hale

  18. Happy go Lucky: “ROK 105.5” sounds like a radio station! If it was I’m guessing it would pump out the best Adult Contemporary rock from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

  19. I’ve done the other positions so i may aswell finish it off (:
    Lenny’s movers R15 – The Forwards

    Thrillers

Ryan O’Keefe ($476,200, 102, 105.50, 119) – ROK has been an ultra consistent performer this year, especially of late. Hasn’t dropped below the century in his last five and in that time averages 118. Gets the ball, uses it well and kicks goals. Doesn’t have a bad next few weeks either until the bye comes in RD19.

Matthew Pavlich ($495,100, 118, 114.21, 74) – Speaking of consistent, the big Pav has been in fine form. Has had 3 scores over 150 and 4 below 100. You can bet he will continue to produce some big scores. Has the bye this week.

Paul Chapman ($430,700, 125, 101.25, 68) – Chappy is as cheap as chips for his standards. Missed a few games early but is starting to get into the swing of things, scoring 125 on Saturday night in a losing side. His averaging 113 in his past 3 and he might just be back to his lethal form of 2010.

Honorable mentions: Nathan Fyfe, Nick Riewoldt (90!!! Massive score for his standards), Daniel Giansiracusa, Leon Davis and Robbie Gray.

    Chillers

Jack Riewoldt ($339,100, 72, 80.14, 93) – It’s fair to say that jumping Jack is in quite terrible form at the moment. Got concussed early on in the season and jumped down in price. Everyone picked him up and he started producing centuries. Hasn’t scored 100 in his past 5, and in that time averaging just 70.

James Podsiadly ($377,000, 44, 79.92, 152) – What has happened to the Pods fairytale 2010? Averaging 65 in his past 3 and hasn’t done much before that either. J-Pod getting past his day i think, with just 4 tons for the year.

Liam Jurrah ($290,300, 39, 70.36, 62) – The cougar just can’t find a way to get into games and produce big scores. Seems like a waste of space down forward. Raised the bat a slim 3 times and has dropped below 60 5 times. Can be a match winner, but far too inconsistent.

    Drillers

Jay Schulz ($324,700, 124, 71.22, 6) – Kicked a career best 7 majors of the weekend in a losing side. In saying that, it’s his first ton for the year, but in the last two rounds he has got his best two scores in 2011. Who knows what he will produce.

Robin Nahas ($389,000, 119, 88.00, 77) – Been one of the better players for Richmond this year, with 5 raises of the bat. Only problem is his consistency, but when he’s on song, he is very exciting and has the potential to rack up big numbers with his disposals and goal kicking.

Jarred Brennan ($378,100, 109, 92.23, 75) – Had a good start to the season with 5 tons in his first 8 games, then dropped off the boil a bit. Showed he could be back to his best on Saturday with 27 disposals. Also doesn’t mind grabbing the ball with 1 hand (SC gold)… not really.

Special mentions: Jarrod Waite, Angus Monfries, Ricky Petterd and Hayden Ballantyne.

  20. Rustee’s Mover’s Mids

    Thrillers

Gary Ablett Jnr($600,300, 185, 129.8, 114)- The Perma is back. Might as well delete the ‘C’ under other players now. Well he is officially back racking up massive scores as he did at Geelong. P.S if you don’t have him GET HIM.

Luke Hodge($460,100, 142, 104.4, 66)- Well we love to see it yes he is abck to his sweeping role that we all loved to see him play back in 08/09 seasons. Racking up the touches off the half back and takes a run in the middle. His finally over his pre-season injury, time to jump on with the Hawks easy SC finals run.

Nick Dal Santo($489,600, 139, 112.6, 70)- SC specialist right here. Nick has found his consistency as the Saints return to form, he will be a big POD if you have him. Has been playing a sweeper role better known as the Hodge role, as of late.

Special Mentions- Daniel Wells, Chris Judd, Ryan Griffen, Nathan Foley, Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas

    Chillers

Steele Sidebottom($340,300, 56, 84.8, 121)- With the amout of tquality mids the Pies now have is playing a deeper forward role. But with Cloke and Dawes dominating inside 50, this kid hasn’t seen much of it in 2011.

Shaun Burgoyne($347,300, 67, 81.5, 98)- A shadow of his former self. Lit up the pre-seaon and late last year, which in turn drew some coaches into pickign him. Well now that rest of the experienced mids have come back in and Shiels & Savage have developed, he has not been involving himself in games, with only some minor highlights for the year.

David Armitage($315,800, 49, 79.5, 107)- This kid used to pump out some pretty great scores last year and earlier in the year. Unfortunately as he has found his spot in the team, he has dropped his game and doesn’t have that drive or passion to take on the game.

    Drillers

Adam Cooney($356,600, 122, 83.1, 4)- Cooney is back. Comign off a long lay off and a gig as the sub, Cooney has pumped out a 124 and 122 over the past two games. Has he finally run into his Brownlow self? With most either having Griffen or/and Boyd, he will be a huge unique come finals time.

Heath Hocking($343,500, 120, 83.4, 13)- One of the better taggers in the comp, however is a SC gem when at his best. Is in the mold of Rischitelli and wins a lot of hard ball. Probably Essesndon’s second most important player behind Watson/

Bernie Vince($413,300, 97, 93.9, 57)- Bernie has been troubled over the last year or so with injury and has since lost a lot of confidence in his game as well as losing his scoring ability. But Now BERNIE’s BACK. 102.45 is his average over the past 4.

Special Mentions- Mitch Robinson, Tom Rockliff, Jack Redden, Sam Mitchell, Jake Melksham, Jarrad McVeigh, Trent McKenzie
