The Ressies Recap – Rd 12

Written by on June 14 2018

There’s a certain much-maligned Saint occupying front and centre in this week’s Recap. You know who I’m talking about! Here’s the latest from the twos.

FREMANTLE: Mitch Crowden (206K fwd/mid) showed good form with 27 possessions and 11 tackles, while Cam McCarthy (217K fwd) compiled 17 touches and a goal following his demotion.

WEST COAST: East Perth had the bye.

ADELAIDE: Patrick Wilson (105K fwd/mid) dominated again despite the Crows’ loss, racking up 33 possessions and a goal. Curtly Hampton (332K mid) can’t get a crack in the senior team but is still in excellent form, recording 29 touches this time out.

PORT ADELAIDE: Dom Barry (182K mid) continues to tease those 26% of coaches with him still on the pine, amassing 24 disposals and two goals for the Magpies. Lindsay Thomas (295K fwd) bobbed up again with another three goals.

SYDNEY: For the second week running, James Rose (127K fwd) was extremely impressive, kicking 2 goals and racking up a game-high 35 possessions. Darcy Cameron (124K ruc) and Colin O’Riordan (124K def) were among the best again.

GWS: Club stalwart Adam Kennedy (217K def/mid) returned from a knee reco with a lazy 35 disposal, 2 goal game against the Suns. Isaac Cumming (124K def) had 23 touches and a goal, while Jeremy Finlayson (335K def/mid) can’t be far off a recall after 31 disposals and a goal.

BRISBANE: The Lions went down to Canberra, but Rhys Mathieson (386K fwd/mid) was close to BOG with 28 possessions and two goals. Tall midfielder Jacob Allison (257K mid) amassed 29 touches.

GOLD COAST: The Suns were well-beaten but the dumped Jarryd Lyons (413K mid) was terrific with 37 disposals and a goal. Josh Schoenfeld (212K mid) contributed 30 possessions.

RICHMOND: Daniel Rioli (341K fwd) continues to build form, recording 15 possessions and a couple of goals in the Tigers’ loss to Williamstown. Shai Bolton (243K fwd) and Jacob Townsend (275K fwd) also kicked two goals each.

NORTH MELBOURNE: The Roos were comprehensively thrashed by the rampant Cats, with Mitch Hibberd (169K def) and Ryan Clarke (341K def) among their best on a bad day at the office.

COLLINGWOOD: Brayden Sier (124K mid) returned from injury with 20 touches and a goal, while Sam Murray (334K def) accumulated 23 disposals in tough conditions for running the footy.

GEELONG: A big win for the Cats translated to lots of impressive stat lines. Jackson Thurlow (318K def/mid) had 43 touches, Ryan Abbott (124K ruc) continues to impress, Cory Gregson (261K fwd) kicked five goals, and Mark O’Connor (124K def/mid) recorded 24 disposals.

CASEY (Melbourne): Tomas Bugg (331K fwd) and Dom Tyson (386K mid) have been in excellent form in the VFL, and each recorded 34 disposals against the Pies, with Bugg adding two goals.

ESSENDON: Dylan Clarke (124K mid/fwd) is awesome at footy. 38 disposals and 11 tackles! Kobe Mutch (164K mid) amassed 33 touches, and Travis Colyer (348K mid/fwd) is building nicely with 25 possessions.

SANDRINGHAM (St Kilda): OK, the opposition wasn’t much chop, but 54 possessions! 3 goals! Jack Billings (318K fwd)! Oh, and Dave Armitage (271K mid) and Nathan Freeman (124K mid) got a bunch of the footy too. Surely Saints are due for some changes?

  1. Maybe Jack’s back. Just maybe 🙂

He’ll be a great POD after the byes. Surely nobody has still got him! And for those of us he didn’t burn, he might just be an attractive proposition 😉

    1. From what I heard he was allowed to run free without any attention while Armo was tagged. If St K recall him they’ll probably plonk him back in the forward line so he can spud up again.

  2. Note to self – do not entertain any player coming up through Frankston’s seniors (Billings’ opposition).
