The Ressies Recap – Rd14

Written by on June 28 2018

We’ve already got one confirmed debutant (Quinton Narkle, GEE, 124K mid) this week, and a few others are pressing their claims around the state leagues. Here’s the latest from the twos.

FREMANTLE: Peel Thunder had the bye.

WEST COAST: Brayden Ainsworth (117K mid) is killing it at this level, but just can’t get a run at it in the senior side. He recorded 22 possessions to go with his three goals against Claremont.  Luke Partington (219K fwd) led all East Perth players with 27 disposals.

No footy for the Crows or Port Magpies last weekend.

GOLD COAST: Brayden Crossley (152K ruc) has probably slipped down in the pecking order for rucks at the Suns, but he continued to impress against USyd with 25 possessions and 40 hitouts. Will Brodie (188K mid) amassed 32 touches, while Jacob Heron (132K def) had 21 possessions and a goal.

GWS: A high scoring clash against the Lions may see Harry Perryman (255K def) back in the ones, after he had 32 possessions and four goals. Lachie Keeffe (157K def/fwd) recorded 22 touches and a couple of goals, while Isaac Cumming (124K def) could only manage nine touches.

BRISBANE: A 35 point loss for the Lions, but the usual suspects all performed well. Ben Keays (378K fwd) 27 touches, Claye Beams (312K mid) 4 goals, and Corey Lyons (124K mid) with 24 touches, all impressed.

SYDNEY had the bye.

CASEY (Melbourne): Emerging tall forward Sam Weideman (189K fwd) had a day out with seven goals, to put himself in line for a call-up to the top flight. Tomas Bugg (331K fwd) and Jay Kennedy-Harris (272K mid) each recorded 27 possessions.

CARLTON: The Northern Blues celebrated a rare victory over the Pies, powered by Nick Graham (371K mid/fwd) and his 35 disposals. Jarrod Pickett (254K fwd) chipped in with three majors, and Darcy Lang (339K fwd) had 23 touches.

COLLINGWOOD: Brayden Sier (124K mid) must be right in the frame to replace the unlucky Treloar after his 28 possession effort against the Blues. Ben Crocker (218K fwd) kicked five goals, and rebounding defender Sam Murray (334K def) amassed 28 touches.

ESSENDON: Jordan Ridley (163K DEF) had a game-high 29 disposals against the Hawks, and should be in line to replace Redman in the senior squad. Fellow defender Michael Hartley (356K def) recorded 21 touches and a goal.

BOX HILL HAWKS: A low-scoring affair against the Bombers couldn’t stop pick 76 Mitch Lewis (124K fwd) from kicking three goals, while James Cousins (214K mid) led all Hawks with 25 possessions.

FOOTSCRAY: Athletic forward Fergus Greene (124K fwd) recorded 21 disposals and kicked 2.3 in an encouraging performance, while Jordan Roughead (333K ruc) sent another reminder to Bevo with 24 possessions and 25 hitouts against North.

NORTH MELBOURNE: Pick 23 Will Walker (117K mid) is having a great debut season, and amassed 19 touches and two goals against the Dogs. Braydon Preuss (347K ruc) is still dominating the VFL, collecting 15 disposals and 36 hitouts.

SANDRINGHAM (St Kilda), GEELONG and RICHMOND had the bye.
