The TEAM 2019 Rd10

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 23 2019

Welcome back to the TEAM for 2019!  The largest gathering of SuperCoach minds creating a formidable TEAM……….

ROUND NINE SUMMARY

Same as last season, the TEAM is slipping before the Byes, dropping another 3k spots down to 16 585.  We’ve got plenty of trades and cash, we need to turn it around and soon.

CURRENT LINE-UP

Well Coaches, we gained Fyfe last week but lost Crouch through injury.  We had to field the likes of Clark, Corbett, Setterfield, Baker & Hayes who combined for a massive 205.

Our Ranking is sliding, and to be honest, I’d rather we didn’t end up around 30k before we do something (like in 2018).  So I am open to all trade suggestions!  Cash in on ROB?  No problem.  Upgrade Walsh?  All for it.  Time to get a little aggressive to stop the slide.

Enter your trade ideas into the comments below and our Coaching Staff will rate them using the Thumbs UP/DOWN function.  Polls will be up after team selections on Thursday Night.  SO what would you do with the TEAM?

**UPDATE at 8.15pm on 23/5/19**

A lot of decisions to be made tonight, Coaches ………..please bear with me with the polls………

  1. O Brien – Fort
    Clark – Lloyd
Keep Walsh, Duursma and Hore for now as they are all scoring fairly well and won’t lose too much value over the next few weeks.
Upgrading drew is also an option although there aren’t many forward premo options atm.

  2. We may need to wait for actual selections before we make any judgement calls this week.
Port seems to be rotating their young-ens purposely.
If I’m correct, Duursma will be out this week and Drew back in, and if that is the case we don’t need to trade him while his bleeding stabilises.
Walsh is hemorrhaging, he must go before he loses more.
We are now seeing the lows of G & R team selections.
Most of our rookies, (cheapies) will probably not be playing.
So……..Walsh and Scott* out, move Drew up, then decide on how we fill the holes.
*If I’m wrong about Port, and Duursma is selected, then he needs to go.

T/U If you think the old codger could be onto something.
T/D If you think he’s finally lost all his remaining marbles.

  3. An option could be
    Out: ROB and B Scott
In: R Young (via P Bines) and J Lloyd (via N Answerth)

  4. I’ve given both thumbs up, (Jack/Adam) but I think ROB and Lloyd are a week early, which is why we need to stop the bleeding this week and there will be more to spend/save next week.

  5. Desperately need to start upgrading the forward line, 3 rookies on field is really hurting the team.

  6. Worth taking a punt on Connor Blakely as a big POD. Eight defenders averaging 100+ for the year and the team has only 2, Whitfield and Sicily. Currently have only one round 12 defender.

Should be permanent midfield with the loss of Neale as moved into the midfield in rounds 12 and 13 last season when Fyfe went down scoring 96 and 103 before injury. Even if he is earmarked at times for that half back role Freo would want the ball in his hands. Injury always a concern?

Clarke out. No loopholing available on backline as Geelong play the Suns and the Brisbane game is on Sunday.

O’Brien out with forward trade to fund Blakely trade.

    1. This is actually an unfair amount of dislikes although I think we should wait a week on Blakely

  7. If Drew doesn’t get selected we could downgrade and go early on Young. Then seeing as we could be facing a donut if Hayes and Crouch aren’t selected, trade Duursma out for Rowan Marshall (swap Setterfield into the mids). This leaves almost 200k for future upgrades and at least we’ve gained another forward that I would consider almost premo with his numbers at only 448k

    T/U: Yep
    T/D: Nope

    1. Or get Clark down to the forwards for Marshall would be better as Duursma is a tiny bit more reliable

  8. Our bye rounds are even more skewed after last week’s trades…24/19/17 on field, but that includes Scott and Burgess. With that in mind, we could keep ROB till after his bye, unless he is dropped for Sauce. Grawn both have R13 bye.
With so much uncertainty this week, its not much point making suggestions till after Thursday. But for what its worth, the suggestion by Jack above looks the most logical….improves team and bye structure, and keeps $106k. We try to keep Drew and Duursma till after byes…..dpp ‘s give us flexibility over three lines.

    2
    1. I’m aware of that……I like to get an idea on which direction the Coaching Staff are leaning towards……makes it easier to get polls ready when teams drop…..

  9. This year, more than most, cash generation is challenging.

With the injuries at Richmond, is it worth picking up Balta as F6 cash generator for the next month or so until the home stretch?

If Drew isn’t named, this would be my preference for a downgrade. Otherwise, Setterfield is a slight upgrade, but I think Balta will generate more cashola.

    Thoughts?

    1. According to too serious…Balta goes up $25 k this week, then nothing for two weeks. According to the great All saints, a trade is worth $130k. I dont think we do this. We need to go to get one uber this week to stay in touch.

      1. Wighty.

Marshall is the Premo this week, and will most likely finish top 6-8 in the forwards.

Read FD’s Cow Talk re: Balta
        http://supercoachtalk.com/cow-talk-round-9-10/

If he scores at his new 3GA of 80+, he’ll make another $100k by his Rd14 BYE. He can then be held further as F6 for at least 4 more weeks after that, and has good JS in the Tigers side due to multiple outs–most notably Nankervis, Riewoldt. Will be able to cash in during the stretch home if required for a profit of $150+…

        I think it’s worth a serious consideration.

        3

        2
        1. Balta is a serious talent, but if you take out his last game, he is averaging 40. Yes, his role is different because of injuries. But, are we more likely to make $100k from a rookie who has already risen $130k, or the likes of R Young ? Young and Hinge look promising…they only need to average 50-60 to get similar price rises, and then there is Fort, already going up $130k in the next three weeks, but js an issue. These three all cost less than 124k.

Balta has an air of the Hoff after r1 when everyone piled in.

          2

          1
          1. Balta has been above 80 the last two games, since Nank went out with an injury and he had to pinch hit in the Ruck. What was really pleasing is that he got his 100 point score with 20% less game time last week… I can only see this continuing for the forseeable future.

Balta has excellent JS playing in every game for the Tigers this year, as opposed to Young, Hinge, and Fort who appear to be wafer-thin in that department.

If the idea is to create coverage for the BYES, get points, and generate cash, I’m not sure that any of those options are better than mine.

        2. On Marshall, yes he is having a great year, but would we want him ahead of the dpp’s of Mundy and Dunkley, or other options like Daniel, Boak, Hawkins ??

          0

          0
          1. Well, if you asked me about Marshall a month ago, especially when he was omitted for a game, I would’ve said ‘No Way’. He’s really proven to me that he’s a solid performer so far, and I reckon he not only keeps his spot, but finishes ~100SC average for the season.

Boak is having an amazing year, but at some point he’ll revert to his mean. The best season he’s ever had was 105SC pts, so we’d be buying at the top-end of his price.

Dunkley is a massive talent, but I’m still unsure of what Mr Magnets is capable of so I’m steering clear until the last few weeks. If the Doggies are in the mix, I reckon Dunkley goes in the middle and pumps out some huge scores… between now and then anything could happen.

            1. Mundy in my mind is the same as Boak.

              Daniel same as Dunkley.

Hawkins a no for being a KPP. But, that’s just me.

              1. Ah well….democracy is a great thing…we can all have our opinions. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Hawkins is just as much a kpp as Marshall, but plays as a link mid who kicks goals.which is why he is so consistent.

                0

                0
                  1. Yes I know that…but we can only compare him with his SC options…forwards. I’m sure you wouldn’t be promoting him as a ruck option.

                    0

                    0
                    1. Wighty…

Marshall IS actually the starting ruck for the Saints, regardless of the position he can be fielded in SC. Just as Daniels IS a distributor in the Bulldogs backline, even though he is a forward for SC purposes. So, when you make an assessment that a player is a KPP, it should be factual, not based in opinion.

I think my Balta play was much better than the ‘pull the trigger early’ move on Young.

NB > I’m pretty disheartened by your assessment of democracy. Opinions are dangerous. Facts are better.

  10. That forward line needs some urgent TLC.
Pending teams tonight but… (praying drew returns)
ROB – Marshall (a consistent 90-100 each week for only a 50k spend)
Baker – young/garner (via DPP if need)

  11. So in a quick summary then,

Outs: 2 of Clark, Drew and Duursma for

Ins: 2 of Marshall / premo, Young and Balta?

  13. Assuming Drew is not selected an option could be
    Out: ROB, W Drew,
    In: R Marshall, R Young,

Approx 270,000 left which will allow Duursma to a mid premium or Clark to a def premium next week. Keep Baker for another week or 2 and then trade him to R Gray once Robbie drops below 400,000.

    1. Do the reverse to avoid cash drop.
Drew can’t lose money if he’s not playing, Duursma can/will.
But after saying that, having Dangerfield out we will need to blow our savings just to get a reasonable starting lineup.
      Hmmmmmm decisions, decisions………

  14. My God so many players hurt in your team. I would take drew out then use that cash to upgrade bines out. Also depends what rookie u get maybe young then put him in for danger. But Matt crouch is put for another 3 to 4 weeks so it’s up to u keep him next week or use a rookie for the next fpr weeks

  15. so if we go by poll results with Drew(Fwd) and Duursma(Mid) going off to the abattoir, bringing in a premo FWD – Boak, we can’t bring in Young(Fwd) can we? Do we revert to Hately(Mid) as he is our only other poll option….or do something else like premo MID – Jelly with rookie Young(Fwd) ?

    1. These two provide cover over three lines between them…Drew is not playing so not going to fall in value…he is also an emerg. Must be better options.
