The TEAM 2019 Rd14

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 21 2019

Welcome back to the TEAM for another week!  Where the greatest SuperCoach minds have gathered to form the ultimate TEAM……..

ROUND THIRTEEN SUMMARY

Not a good week for the TEAM but it was half-expected with our trade plan.  While we slipped a touch, we now have enough cash on hand to make two big upgrades.

CURRENT LINE-UP

Obvious upgrade for me is Brodie Smith to Jake Lloyd (SYD) and Sam Walsh upgraded to a premium MID.  Ideally Josh Kelly (GWS) but he isn’t playing this week.  Perhaps Walsh to Dunkley (FWD/MID) which is possible with the Smith/Lloyd move……..then next week upgrade Liam Baker to a premium MID?

Many things can be considered.  I think one decision that needs to be made is what to do with Hore/Duursma/B.Smith in DEF.  Do we keep two of them for D6/D7 or upgrade them all to premium players (they’ve all generated enough cash, Smith is starting to lose value).

Whatever your trade suggestions, place them into the comments below and  the Coaching Staff will rate them through the Thumbs UP/DOWN function.  What would your next move be for the TEAM?

** UPDATE at 12noon on 21/6/19 **

OK Coaches……… our Coaching staff has narrowed it down to two trade plans ahead of Rd14 and you get to choose which one is put in place.  Here are the plans:

PLAN A (By Adam)

OUT: L Baker, C Burgess (via R Gray), B Smith
IN: G Logue (via R Gardner), A Brayshaw, J Lloyd

Trade O Baker next week for N Hind/loophole allowing S Walsh to J Kelly but means X Duursma and M Hore will occupy D5 and D6 a while longer.
22 playing this round.

PLAN B (By Schwarz)

RD14: OUT – Duursma, B.Smith, Walsh, IN – Logue (FRE), J.Lloyd (SYD), Dunkley (WBD)……… then we should have enough for next weeks move…….

RD15: OUT – Baker & Baker (via Dunkley), IN – Josh Kelly (GWS) & N.Hind (STK)

That would leave us with Hore & Logue/Naish at D5 & D6, Robbie Gray at M8 for the time being plus a completed FWD line with Burgess & YOung on the bench. Good idea/ bad idea? Thumbs UP/DOWN………

Which Trade Plan should be put in place for the TEAM in Rd14?

  1. A couple of options

    TU:
    Out: B Smith, L Baker, S Walsh
In: J Lloyd, M Bontempelli (via R Gray), A Brayshaw

    Hold X Duursma and M Hore at D5 and D6 with the intention to bring in S Hurn/T Stewart/ L Ryan/etc.
    22 playing

    TD:
Out: L Baker, C Burgess (via R Gray), B Smith
In: G Logue (via R Gardner), A Brayshaw, J Lloyd

      1. How do you propose we aim to move rookies off the field maximising points for the run home?

O Baker and C Burgess are the only rookies on the bench that should be traded in the next 1-3 rounds and any upgrade will require an on-field downgrade.

        1. Also Bont is the 6th highest averaging mid with 1 game below 95 and is available for a price below 540,000.

    1. You make some good points (again), Adam…………. but I’m going to offer up some different options below……..

    2. Love it Adam. Have to take slight risks (eg Brayshaw) which affords us Uber premos and quickly.

  3. Looking at our score, it seems we passed on fyfe 129 and swung the c to Cripps 🙁

I like a combination of both Adam and Schwarz…..

    Out… Smith Walsh Baker
In…… Logue Dunkley Walters (be 42)

    Cash 265.4

    Points to consider.

    1. Dunkley be 70, Bont 139…Bont can wait a week or two but def upgrade.
    2. Dunkley and Walters provide great dpp on separate lines in case of any disasters. One of Dunks or Gray goes forward in weeks ahead to make way for Bont
    3. Logue breaks Josh Glenn rule but looks to have good js for now….not many other downgrade options for Smith anyway
    4. We will have 22 good players onfield this week….reckon four of duursma, naish, o baker, bewley, clarke will not be needed, and gardner benched for logue.
    5. Worry about next week after this round….so many options with fattening cows still, and several downgrade options. Our cash should allow at least one upgrade next week.

Longer term, I have concerns for Cameron as a finals player.

  4. For me I don’t think we should be bringing in a FWD as technically we have 6 premo FWDs if you include Gray, need to improve the other lines first then upgrade completed lines if we can afford to.

OUT – Baker, Smith & Walsh
    IN – Bont, Stewart, MID/DEF Premo under $535,200 (Sloane/Ryan)

    5

  5. Out: Smith – Hore – Walsh.
    In : Lloyd – Stewart – Ryan.

    No cash left

Backline finished with Duursma (midfield) and/or Baker to be looked at round 15.

  6. Out Smith, Walsh an’ Baker seems logical and popular.
In Lloyd, Logue and a poll with Daniel and Marshall included with the populars already mentioned??????

  7. I’m not sure why people are in such a rush to offload Walsh and Smith. Better off finishing the lines with them as M8 and D5/6, then upgrade later if trades permit. There’s no need to field 22 this week, 21 is plenty. (Especially since Logue would probably not score above the 3rd lowest anyway, so wouldn’t net any points for the extra player) It also gives us an extra week to look at Logue

    1. Also agree with your theory Pete, however we need to decide whether we are Tortoise or Hares.
Do we sit back til the end and let some good offers go by, or do we slowly jump on board bit by bit and save approx. 4 trades for corrective emergencies?
I’m also concerned about Logue and his history, but it takes money to make money, or points in this case, so if we don’t spend it and get downgrades then we miss the bargains on sale.

        1. We need to do a third trade this week to set up for coming weeks…we have plenty in hand still…trades.
