The TEAM 2019 Rd15

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 27 2019

Welcome back to the TEAM for 2019!  Where the elite SCT minds have converged to create the perfect SuperCoach TEAM!

ROUND FOURTEEN SUMMARY

A respectable score of 1977 saw the TEAM win 7/10 League games and rise again in the Rankings.  Our three new recruits (Lloyd, Dunkley & Logue) all the hit the century……couldn’t have worked out any better there.

CURRENT LINE-UP

My trade plan was put into place last week and the second part of it is still relevant this week.  I propose we take out Baker & Baker for Josh Kelly (GWS) & Hind (STK).  That would leave us with R.Gray at M8 for the time being & Hore/Logue at D5&D6.  Hore could then be upgraded to Hurn / Whitfield over the next few weeks.

If you like those trade ideas, leave a thumbs UP for approval.  If you’d like to propose a different set of trades, then leave them in the comments below.  The Coaching Staff will assess each proposal and leave a Thumbs UP/DOWN.  Given Josh Kelly plays on Thurday night, I’ll have the polls ready on Thursday morning.  Fire away, Coaches!

**UPDATE on 27/6/19 at 11am**

Well, Coaches………the plan to get Josh Kelly into the TEAM is still most popular according to the Thumbs UP from Coaching Staff.  There has also been a swell of support for a double upgrade in defence and the midfield, given the tough cash generation this year and the value on offer.

The only fair option is to put it all to the polls!!  Strap yourselves in, Coaches……….we got some decisions to make…………

Which trade option do you recommend for the TEAM this week?  Bringing in Josh Kelly & Nick Hind or trading in a value Premium in defence & the midfield?

Trade in Josh Kelly (GWS) & Hind (STK) OR a DEF & MID Premium?

  1. Or is Gray at F6? Has to be I think. I have a personal rule that I’ll never pay 600k+ for ANYONE during the season. Prices fluctuate, look at Neale as an example. Is Kelly a must? Maybe a poll on some other mid premo options. Might need that 100-120k later down the track.

  2. At this point I think we need to start being prudent with trades. I like the one trade only option for this week. Agree either gray or dunks forward, but then a poll for new recruit. Sloane, bont, duncan all look attractive….my leaning is bont.
We still have cows fattening and the money saved on kelly can go towards say ryan next week.

    1. I would then look to luxury trade andrews to whitfield in a few weeks leaving logue as d7. Im concerned at having 2 kpp players… Andrews and Cameron., especially with sicily role uncertain.

      1. Prudent with trades ……. luxury trade

Bahahaha…… love the consistency in your message Wighty. 😉

        1. Haha….i think one trade this week and another in a few weeks, only if certain criteria are met, is indeed prudent. One thing the team has not done this year is generally look more than one week ahead.

      1. Indeed we did…..the result is less trades needed going forward. Last weeks trades were completely logical and coming out of byes with 9 trades is good.

  3. Defence looks shaky with Sicily and his current roles, Hore, Andrews and Logue with the latter three all having the potential to go under 70.

Andrews and Hore will both most likely drop $30,000 – $40,000 over the next two weeks.

The backline upgrading will be a big problem cash wise in the following weeks should the team push towards Kelly this week?

Maybe Tom Stewart averaging 101 is worth a punt for Hore, however, the Baker upgrade will only be to a Bontempelli/Sloane or Treloar priced midfielder.

    1. These are the two trades we need to make. However I suggest a poll for mid (e.g. Bont/Sloane/Treloar) and def (e.g.Stewart/Weller/Rich).

    2. Sound move, but Sloane would be our last mid if Gray goes forward.
So Sloane over Jelly in our finals team ?

        1. Whitfield is probably another two weeks away from playing and he should leak plenty of cash from his first two returning games.

It will take say another three trades to get to him including some savy cash generation from rookies along the way should Hore be traded out this week.

  4. Would love to know our ladder positions…would determine how many trades we need to keep for finals.

  5. Ok…I’ve had the abacus out again looking at the remainder of the season. I think most coaches would agree that we need 2 defs and 1 mid. So, how do we do it ?

Firstly, I think we decide who we want in finals side. I’d argue that in def, Hurn and Whitfield are the two most likely coming in for Hore and Logue. Looking at be’s, Hore can wait a week before going to Hurn. Whitfield can wait till logue matures in possibly three weeks time, but if whit looks longer than that, ryan/stewart/williams can replace.

There are many options for a mid, but lets go with baker to sloane as that seems popular.
    So, what do we raise ? 232k cash, +hore 414, logue 320, baker 364…..Total 1330k
    And we need…..sloane 511, hurn 544, whitfield 530….Total 1585
    Shortfall 255k.

Above prices are what I think will apply at the times trades are likely to be done i.e. baker to sloane this week, hore to hurn next week, logue to whitfield two weeks after whitfield returns. Hurn or whitfield could be a ryan/williams/stewart at a slightly smaller total cost after hurn and whitfield price falls, but the timing of bringing them in doesn’t change.

What this means is that we probably cannot get to full premo unless we do at least two other downgrades, both for cash only by trading to lowest price spuds, then a one down one up for the final of the above trades. O Baker and Clarke look the most likely options. This entire scenario will cost 6 of our 9 remaining trades and is ne of the reasons why trading hard last week was the right option.

So, for me its solely Baker to Sloane this week, albeit it means we will miss jelly. Next week Hore to Hurn plus one downgrade, then reassess depending on outlook for Whitfield.

I know this may not be popular, but before canning it, coaches might have their own try at getting us to full premo pre finals.

    Be kind !!!

      1. The big problem is that all of our rookies Naish, Gardener, Baker, Clarke, Bewley, Bines, Burgess and Young are not going to generate a windfall so it is essential that we get to so called premiums sooner than later.

There is definitely going to be injuries during the final 9 rounds so it is easier to trade a high priced player than manipulate around trading rookies for cash generation.

Think The Team has erred in not finalising the defenders as this is the most stabilised and limited line of players of all.

              1. That’s right but Whitfield is a couple of weeks away from playing and probably four before trading him?

Just got to pray that Logue can push out 80’s for the next four games.

There is currently ten (10) defenders averaging 96+ for the season and The Team has two(2.)

  6. The Josh Kelly and Hind transfers are solid trades leaving 7 trades of which 4 will be aimed to bring in the popular targets in Whitfield and Hurn.

Hore will probably have to be held for another week and Logue until he and Clarke provide the necessary funds hopefully for round 19.

    Three trades for the finals.

  7. Having now seen our ladder rankings, I’ve changed my view to getting two prems this week…no point having great strategies for finals if we aren’t even there. I’m now with Pete….
    Out Hore and L Baker
    In Stewart and Sloane.

Will leave us one def to get….just gonna have to manage our cows to the best we can in getting there, but the timing might be perfect with whitfield. Interestingly our possible new recruits play in the same game this rd.

      1. Thanks As. The other suggested option for this week (Kelly and hind) leaves us with only one upgraded premo, and the likelihood of being a premo short for a few more rounds at least.
