The TEAM 2019 – TEAM Structure

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 13 2019

Welcome back to the TEAM for 2019!  Where every Coach at SCT can shape the TEAM………

Today we look at team structure………where do we want our Premiums placed on the TEAM?  Looking at the RMT thread, it’s fair to say that we’ll be starting with 12 Premiums in our starting line-up.  Given that two of those are Grundy & Gawn (if fit and named for Rd1), we’ll be voting on the best possible structure outside of the Ruck line.

So, Coaches…….where do we need more Premiums?  DEF?  FWD?  Vote now……..

What is the best TEAM structure for Rd1?

  1. What are people’s thoughts on JOM this season? Reckon’ he might struggle with the hard tag without Tommy Gun?

      1. Very true, I really hope he can have an uninterrupted season but get the feeling he’ll be ‘managed’ at some point.

  2. In order for the team to be able to maximise $$$$$’s made would it not be prudent to start with 4 premiums in the mids. That way rookies, and by that I mean mid rookies, can generate as much money as possible….

    1. Money is needed, but i’m not saying i’m right or wrong, but a rookie or mid pricer averaging from 70-90 (probably best case scenario) will be going up against a mid-5 premium alot of the time , M crouch, Zerrett, Sloane, brayshaw etc who can all realistically ave around 105-110. So you could possible find at worst yourself down 40pts per week on average, some weeks 70 points just from 1 position. The money strengthens other line but by what a 5-10 point bump?

I’ve considered 4 mid premiums for my team a while back and decided against it on the basis of lost points. I’ve even thought about capitalizing on the trend this year and running 6 deep.
Is this right or wrong no one knows.
If the rookies are mostly bad as seemingly so, and not making alot of money, id rather have the 6th mid premium while waiting for money to eventuate than have that same premium money spent elsewhere.

      1. What about the philosophy that rookies determine how many premiums you place in each line? Would you prefer to miss out on a solid MID rookie in order to have a premium M5, while instead being forced to have some wishwash FWD rookie? Wouldn’t it be preferable to not have that sketchy FWD rookie, have a premium F4 (for example), and have a solid MID rookie?

        1. Well even running 6 premium mids you still have 5 rookie spots to use up. And there probably won’t be 5 mid rookies that are field worthy. Just have to make sure those 5 are the best. I. E. Duursma and drew both promising rookies aren’t even in the mids.
And yes get your rookies first, but I’m not convinced there are 6 solid rookies yet(money makers) if I see 6 rookies with a potential to ave 50 with good job security I’ll select them. But at this point in time it’s a wait and see. There could end up being 10 rookies with decent ave and js but we’re not there yet. Just my personal take so far.

          1. It’ll all come down to decent rookies at the team drops. Noises in Twitter are suggesting we’re gonna have a SERIOUS LACK of rookies on ALL lines. So,

            BE PREPARED!

eg. Sounds like Butters might be the ONLY Port rookie with any sort of JS!
Scott (NTH) and Constable (GEE) also unlikely!

  3. I’m assuming 2 – 5 – 2 – 3 doesn’t include Z Williams in defence. 4 deep is way too shallow in my opinion. You’re on the back foot for points from the get go.
