Big week for the  in the second Round of Byes!  We won nine League games and moved up over 5000 places in the Rankings.  TEAM is now as follows:

As you can see from the graphics, we have 12 players plus Strnadica missing from the line-up this week (bloody Harbrow……..might be the last time I make an ‘executive decision’, that has hurt).  Should we trade to get a full side in?  Keep in mind that we have $98k sitting in the bank.  If you have any trade suggestions for the TEAM, enter them into the comments below.  Our Coaching Staff will give them the Thumbs UP or DOWN to show their approval/disapproval.  In the meantime, we can get our C / VC sorted out as normal…………

C / VC options for the TEAM in Rd13? (three choices)

** UPDATE at 15.6.17 at 8am **

After the first five weeks of the year, I didn’t think I’d be asking this question but I find it an interesting one.  Since we moved Sandilands on last week, I’m a little curious to see the result of the following polls.  Jack put forward the question (along with Daisy) of moving Nat Fyfe on to avoid a donut this week.  The better options seemed to be Elliot Yeo (#1 FWD at the minute) or Scott Selwood ($130k cash generation).  It’s a simple YES or NO question and we need an answer inside of the next 12 hours………….

Should we trade Nat Fyfe OUT of the TEAM ahead of Rd13?

  1. We actually can’t trade this week I don’t think? Myers could go, but who for??
Maybe the Fyfe debate comes back into it. We may need to trade him to field 18, or cop a donut.

TU Trade Fyfe = 18 this week
TD No trades = 17 this week

  2. If we want to avoid donuts then Harbrow to Lloyd should be considered.

It’s also time to pull the pin on Fyfe, and recreate the Fwd/Mid link.

    1. Fyfe to Yeo/Lloyd would work. Then when cashing out on Newman (if trades permit), Lloyd could be swung back. Yeo also allows the swing with the FWD rookies.

      1. Both suggestions have merit. I tossed up the Jake Lloyd to mids myself but decided on cash savings.

Yeo to mids this week, then swing forward via Bolton next sounds good.

Next week Lloyd in to mids, for Fisher or Myers, Stewart out for Luke Ryan.

Still need a good forward, and a good mid though – maybe more than we need Lloyd.

But what other 100 point mids are so cheap, other than Scooter. And is Scooter still off our radar?

  3. Maybe Myers to a nuffie mid-forward solely for the dpp link (don’t mind the idea of Callum Brown, at least he’s on the cusp of selection, and let’s be real Myers doesn’t show any signs of pulling a Menadue) to free up an extra 100-odd thousand for next week?

I’d imagine Stewart to Ryan is pencilled in for next week, and that extra 100K could be useful in upgrading someone like Fisher -> Bont next week (assuming Barrett doesn’t spud it up) or Parsons to pretty much any forward or ruck

  4. Looks like no trading this week………unless someone comes up with a ripper trade deal in the next 24 hours, we’ll probably go in with 17 this week

  5. We could trade Harbrow and Shaw to Lloyd and Tuohy. Financially it would basically be a straight swap. Points-wise it makes sense. And with Newman able to satisfactorily occupy our D6 spot until he’s able to be more or less straight-swapped for a recognized premium defender, our backline would be close enough to complete.

This might be a bit sideways for some people’s taste, but it would provide a sizeable improvement in scoring – both this week, and for the remainder of the season – for virtually no money. Which is good, because we have virtually no money.

We could also trade Fyfe to Scott Selwood, who still has money to make, and would also free up cash in the immediate term. Or a fallen premium like Bontempelli. But Selwood probably makes more sense.

This would leave us with 4 spots to fill (5 if we took the Scott Selwood route), and 10 trades with which to fill them. It would be tight, but it would be doable.

    1. If people are happy to keep Shaw and Harbrow long-term, then we could also just do the Fyfe –> Selwood bit.

I can see why the backline component of my suggestion would be controversial, but given our financial issues (not to mention our lack of warm bodies this week), swapping Fyfe with Selwood has a lot of merit.

    2. Sorry, but the concept of trading Shaw and Harbrow for Lloyd and Tuohy seems a bit nonsensical as a sizeable improvement is a severe misrepresentation of the current situation. If Tuohy and Lloyd both average 5 more points than Shaw and Harbrow it will only warrant 110 extra points for the remainder of the season which isn’t worth 2 trades.

As much as everyone would leave to rid the team of underperforming premiums there are more pressing situations such as rookies with a low potential of cash generation or rookies that need to be culled should be of the upmost importance.

Therefore due to the lack of options the best choice would be to hold our trades this week.

      1. I will grant that two sideways trades is a bit much, given our predicament. But Harbrow isn’t playing this week, so replacing him with Lloyd could net you an extra 100 points on top of whatever Lloyd outscores him by from here on out. That’s probably an extra 200 to 250+ points for the season – surely that is worth a trade?

I stand by my Fyfe –> Selwood suggestion, too. You said yourself that the TEAM has cash generation issues, and this would be of great help on that front (an extra $133,800 right now, plus significant additional cash generation on Selwood’s part). And that’s before we even get to the likely net increase in total points.

    3. Wouldn’t do Shaw to Tuohy. Seems sideways.

Fyfe to Scooter I wholeheartedly agree with. Scooter still has an abundance of cash to make, is outscoring Fyfe, and will score around 100 points more just by playing this week.

There is NO doubt Fyfe is not a top 8 midfielder.

  6. Cant believe that 1 game in a whole season can shape a side. Don’t think Fyfe is the biggest problem. It will sort itself out. Just hang in there!

    1. Average over 90 as a dpp fwd. Wasn’t too bad at all untill he was used to tag this week. Good enough for a d6/m9 swingman for sure.

  7. Ok, it looks like we’re holding Fyfe and saving our trades this week. Fingers crossed there aren’t more surprises in store at selection. Really don’t like these Thursday games……

  8. If we want to avoid doughnut what about Myer to Ainsworth ( fwd/mid ) $242,900.
Expensive, especially after unexpected late call up last week, rising $44K scoring 77 after missing 9 games. He has an average of 72 from 3 games and expected to rise another $30k this week and $25k week after. Handy DPP to link with fwd line and could be good bench cover and cash cow. Pity about price but Desperate times desperate measures.
