The TEAM – Rd4

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 13 2017

If you’re floating past our humble website, then you are also part of the TEAM!  A collection of hardcore Supercoaches working together to form the perfect TEAM.

Rd3 Score: 2112

Overall Ranking: 19463

Trades Left: 30

Remaining Salary: $22 800

It was a rough week for the TEAM, dropping over 10 000 places in the rankings.  Powell-Pepper, O’Meara & Taranto performed below average and Gawn was off the ground early against the Cats & will need to be replaced.  Thankfully we still have 30 trades up our sleeves, so we can make a few moves over the coming weeks.

Due to the short week, I’m going to take a few short-cuts with the voting process.  Having looked through Trade Talk & various other Forums, I’m quite confident that there won’t be too many objections.  If you oppose the following moves then you can voice your concern in the Forum below.  You’ll need to convince the Coaching Staff of your intentions if anything is to come to a vote.

First trade on the table is a correctional rookie move.  It’s also the most popular trade of the week according to Chillo’s Flavour Of The Week: Mitchell Hibberd (NTH) to Nic Newman (SYD).

First Trade: Hibberd (NTH) to Newman (SYD) in DEF?

  • YES - It's a no-brainer (95%, 162 Votes)
  • NO - Better options elsewhere (5%, 8 Votes)

Total Voters: 170

Then there’s the question of how to handle the Max Gawn situation.  We already have Nankervis performing beautifully in the FWD line so we’re left with two options.  Normally I’d recommend another ‘Set&Forget’ option then we (hopefully) don’t have to worry about the Rucks for the rest of the season.  However, we still have all our trades at the moment.  If we brought in a cheaper option, we could bank the cash for a quick upgrade elsewhere next week (I’m thinking O’Meara –> elite MID).  We could then re-assess our Ruck options around the Bye Rounds.  So the question is………

Should we bring in a 'Set&Forget' option or cheaper option for Max Gawn in the Ruck?

  • Set & Forget - Lock in a Premium for the year (55%, 89 Votes)
  • Cheaper Option - Cash generation and re-assess around the Bye Rounds (45%, 74 Votes)

If we are leaning to a ‘Set&Forget’ option, then who would you prefer?

Who are the best 'Set&Forget' Ruck options? (two choices)

  • Stefan Martin (BRL $516 800) (51%, 122 Votes)
  • Brodie Grundy (COL $528 800) (43%, 101 Votes)
  • Shane Mumford (GWS $532 000) (3%, 7 Votes)
  • Sam Jacobs (ADE $466 100) (2%, 5 Votes)
  • Tom Hickey (STK $452 200) (1%, 2 Votes)

If we were heading for a cheaper option then who would you prefer?

Who is the best cheaper Ruck option?

  • Jarrod Witts (GCS $292 800) (85%, 139 Votes)
  • Braydon Preuss (NTH $199 700) (15%, 24 Votes)

** UPDATE at 7.45pm on 13.4.17 **

Ok, Coaches………….The team selections have thrown our plans out of whack (a little).  I’ve gone ahead and made the move of Max Gawn to Nic Newman with the help of our DPPs.  That leaves us with 29 trades & $494 500 in the bank.  We could still go ahead with the trade of Hibberd to Stefan Martin and complete our Ruck line as planned.  With the omissions of O’Meara & Barrett however, we could upgrade to any elite MID and further strengthen our midfield.  While it sounds very tempting, it would mean that Nankervis stays in the Ruck and we have no back-up options for Nank or Sandi.  It’s a tough one, which is why I’m putting it to a vote!

Stick to the original plan?

Should we stick to the Hibberd-->S.Martin trade as planned?

If not, then we trade out O’Meara or Barrett instead?

      1. Ditto. My starting RUC of Sandi, Witts & Preuss is working like a dream. Initial selection included Gawn & Goldy. That would have been a disaster!

  1. I started with R1 Nank R2 Sandi

Wanted to see how Witts went early.

Flicked McCarthy for Witts last week. Only trade so far.

S Martin and Grundy are my upgrade targets at the moment.

Think I will use 2 trades this week.

Good bye mid priced madness ( Tuohy, JOM)

    Hello Newman and Sloane.

Wish I had just stuck with guns and rookies from the start.

It seems every year a few mid prices sneak into my team.

    Never again!

  2. I propose Gawn to Newman (Nank to Ruck, Parfitt forward, Hibbert to mid).
Then look at upgrading a forward or midfielder to a premo. Probably a forward, like Florent or maybe Taranto

  3. How about trading Taranto out for Newman via Hibberd?
This will give us the option of loopholing rookies in the mids, which is very handy considering we have two on-field.

  4. Gawn -> Newman
    Taranto -> Riewoldt

Hibberd hasn’t made any cash at all and will probably come back into the side at some stage this year, so might as well keep him. Taranto on the other hand doesn’t really look like appreciating too much.
