Trade History

Rd4 – Mitchell Hibberd (NTH) to Nic Newman (SYD) & Max Gawn (MEL) to Stefan Martin (BRL)

Rd5 – Tim Taranto (GWS) to Zac Fisher (CAR) & Jaeger O’Meara (HAW) to Marc Murphy (CAR)

Rd6 – Sam Powell-Pepper(PTA) to Harley Balic (FRE) & Jarryd Roughead (HAW) to Lance Franklin (SYD)

It seems we might have been too hasty in off-loading Taranto & SPP over the last two weeks, but O’Meara & Roughead really had to be moved on.  It was a tough week for the TEAM as well but we still managed a few League wins.  We are 44 pts behind ‘Straight Sets’ in the SCT Cup so we have a task ahead of us if we want to make the next Round.  Current TEAM is as follows……….

Take a good look at the TEAM, Coaches.  Does it need any changes ahead of Rd7?  What would you do with this line-up?

There are a few tempting downgrade options but who makes way?  Are we going too early?  Who gets upgraded?  Is it worth it?  Many things to consider ahead of Rd7.  With Nankervis, Parfitt & Fisher out this week, we might be struggling to field a full side.  I know what I’d do, but like everyone else, my plan needs the approval of the Coaching Staff.

Get your trade suggestions (if any) into the Forum below and the Coaching Staff will decide which direction we take (Thumbs UP/DOWN).  Polls will be posted after teams are announced on Thursday night.  Fire away………

** UPDATE at 6.45pm on 4.5.17 **

Considering the changes that have been made, the TEAM has gotten through fairly unscathed.  Most Coaches have to deal with Nankervis, Fisher & Parfitt anyway but the TEAM hasn’t chosen Beams and regains Florent & Barrett (hopefully).  For the moment I’m running a poll on Parfitt’s replacement (Black or Parsons seems to be the go).

Since I wasn’t sure if we needed to make a 2nd trade or not, I’ll leave it to the Coaching Staff to decide.  Keep in mind that we’ll have about $160k/$140k in the bank depending on which way we go.  Can you find a viable 2nd trade?  If so, then please leave a suggestion in the Comments below.  If there are enough votes then I’ll put it to a poll on Friday morning.  Thanks, Coaches!!

Parfitt comes OUT, who comes IN to the TEAM?

  • James Parsons (GEE $117k) (93%, 141 Votes)
  • Aaron Black (GEE $137k) (7%, 10 Votes)

** UPDATE at 10am on 5.5.17 **

Ok, Coaches………Parfitt to Parsons is a done deal, otherwise I’m confused as hell!  There is a clear majority in favor of a 2nd trade but there aren’t any trade suggestions that have any great support in the Forum.

We now have $159 400 in the bank which isn’t really enough to upgrade in the midfield (to an elite MID).  We could upgrade in DEF but would have to go early on Andy Otten (perhaps to Kade Simpson, we have enough $$ for that).  Unless I see a reasonable trade suggestion with a STACK of support (thumbs up), then I’ll be holding fire with the 2nd trade.  Up to you, Coaches………

  1. Double downgrade this week? Not may new rookies coming through by the looks of it…

Houston and Hampton to whichever rookies on the bubble are listed as playing

    1. Just the one trade I think Schwarzwalder.

In a week everyone is scrambling to avoid donuts. The Team is looking good.

T/U Just swap the Cats boys.

T/D Do something else silly chasing points.

  2. Pending anncoucements, there may be no way to escape a 0 unless both Black and Parsons are named and not sure I’d be rolling with both.

If a 0 is inevitable, a double downgrade to Parsons/EWV (or McNeice) may need to happen just to build a bank this week.

  3. Parfitt to one of the Geelong rookies is a no brainer. Without it we can’t field a full team unless some guys come back into the squad.
I’d say maybe that’s all we do. Don’t think we should get rid of Butler, Houston or the defensive rookies as they are still making cash and we need them on the field. Especially after going too early on Taranto and SPP.

      1. Agreed. Tebs has it covered above. Double downgrade, probably Black and Parsons for Pickett and Parfitt, depending on selections. Then next week bring in a Simpson or Hanners.

        1. He’s been terribly low scoring and we probably wouldn’t want him on the field anyway but is there a chance that Pickett may come back in now Fisher is out injured?

Hopefully after the Lions poor showing last week, Barrett comes back in as well.

  4. Tough one this week
I would probably move pickett into the mids and trade parfitt for parson provided he is named.
This leaves the team with 160k I believe so we could either downgrade a defender this week as well or take a chance and upgrade and bring in Hibberd at 400k

    1. I think reversing that might be better as is there anyone in our price range that would suit an upgrade on parfitt.

      1. I think we’d be just short on cash for Simpson. Not really any good options up front. Could do Rance but not sure it would be worth it.

    2. If Barrett, Eddy or Pickett get a game I would agree with you Matteo.

If not,we will cop a donut in the forwards.

Parsons is a must if named. Black, I’m not sold on but maybe our only option to avoid a donut.

Why did people vote SPP out? He was by far the most promising Mid rookie

One bad score and we go early on him to get Buddy?

  5. I can trade out roughy for Franklin and still afford either Mcgrath or otten to hibberd

Option 1: either just do the first trade
Option 2: do both trades but tell me out of otten or mcgrath
Option 3: Just downgrade houston or butler with roughy up to frank to gain some cash.

  6. If Fisher plays ( if injured Pickett may replace him ) or Barrett is selected due to Beams being out

Stewart – EVW = $102k cash to bank

Swap Parfitt with Pickett via dpp

    Parfitt – Parsons ( if selected ) = $126,200 cash to bank

+ Current Bank $33,200 = $261,400 for upgrading a fallen premium for a cow that’s mooed next week.

No cover apart from backs, but no donuts

    1. As long as we do 2 downgrades to maximise $$$$$ in the bank, we still need to get maximum points.

Stewart best score 70, worst 22…. even if he hits his average he’ll only make $12k approx with a be -5
Marchbank best score 97, worst 56 in shocking conditions & solid scores of 69, 74,76 & 82….be of 50 I’m guessing he’ll get that & get another solid score making $3-5k approx & getting an extra 20-30 points.

      1. Stewart is predicted to make 26.9K (55 points) this week while Marchbank is predicted 9.9K. (71 points)

        1. Thanks Huttabito,

Always thought it worked out to around $200 per point ( hence the approx ), still think the 20-30 extra points makes Marchbank worth keeping on the ground…..where Stewart sits on the bench as a slow burner

  7. I think that selling Parfitt and buying a forward rookie ( Parsons and Black) by switching with Pickett, will generate cash and provide us with future cash growth. I would like to wait for the teams to be announced tomorrow before contemplating another trade as any of Barrett, Eddy or Pickett could get a game and prevent us from getting a zero in midfield.

    1. But unlikely Florent will get a game. So we really need teams.

Parsons AND Black fills the donut but loses dpp flexibility.

Of course, if Eddy can’t get a game after 5 goals in the state league he’s nothing more than a blocker.

Lot of options for cash generation this week. Without the need to pick up Pendles this week, Simpson really is the only viable fallen premo.

I would rather turn over cash cowd this week and hunt premos next week.

  8. Parfitt to Parsons via Pickett. To replace Nank on Field.

Then, pending naming of Teams, either Florent to Black via Macrae to plug a donut….

Or if we field a full team. Then perhaps Simpson in for Otten or McNeice in for Hampton.

  9. We’ve got no cover in the mids unless florent plays – but should have cover on all other lines.

The team isn’t looking great this week but holding on the second trade is probably the way to go.

    4

    1
    1. I agree, it will give us another week for the defensive cows to moo, and give us a better understanding of Ottens scoring potential now that Jenkins is back. We can also assess if Hibberd is a viable option.

  10. It’s a bit of a risk, but we could use the money from the Parfitt trade to upgrade a rookie forward to Heeney. He should average 90+, and, given the cash-generation issues this year, would be more than serviceable at his price.

It’s not ideal, but given the rookie situation this year, I don’t think many teams (including the TEAM) will be able to go full-premium in the traditional sense this year. Thus getting in an almost-premium or two (such as Heeney or Hibberd) while they are still cheap could end up paying off.

    3

    10
  11. Left field option … Given the Hawks are travelling poorly I assume they will give the young guys game time. I would suggest bringing in Hardwick for Pickett or Eddy.

  12. When you show the pictures of the team above, can the projected price change and the break even be shown?

  13. I went trading Parfitt for Parsons and with the cash i had left over I switched Beams for The Bont

    6

  14. Hampton to Melican.

Should take advantage of the few good downgrade options.
If we have both Melican and Newman one will almost certainly be playing each week.
Hampton has pretty much topped out.

Will help fund upgrades next week.

    1. Sorry, i can’t agree.

Anyone looking at the byes before making recommendations?

Current players (assuming Parfitt to Parsons this week) who’s teams are playing in round 11.

Def: Laird, Shaw, Otten, Hampton, Stewart.
Mid: Dangerfield, Fyfe, Pendles, Treloar, Balic
      Ruck: Sandilands (Strnadica)
Fwd: Nankervis, Butler, Houston, Parsons, Eddy

That’s an absolute maximum of 16 players assuming Strnadica doesn’t play .

With Eddy not looking like getting a gig then that’s 15 without injuries or suspensions.

Trading Hampton to Melican would reduce this number even further.

      1. I’ve just read my own comment and as it’s a reply to your comment FD, “Anyone looking at the byes before making recommendations?” sounds very condescending and disrespectful to yourself.

Please be assured this was NOT my intention, please accept my apologies.

        1. Valid point about the rd11 byes Mutley. Given only for teams have the rd12 bye is it a good idea to trade in a player from those teams such as Black, EVW or even a premo such as Joelwood?

          3

          0
        2. No worries mate! 🙂

I was not, in fact, thinking about the byes, since I tend to think you have to take the cows we have access to and deal with byes via the players you can make choices about, as well as because I was being lazy and thinking Schwartz would be thinking about it.

And, as it turns out, the more I think and hear about Melican the less I like the idea of trading out Hampton, who seems sure to start aside from injury, for someone less sure to start.
