The TEAM – Rd8

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 11 2017

Welcome to the TEAM!  The ultimate Supercoach team designed by the footy minds that inhabit SCT.

Rd7 Score: 1980

Overall Ranking: 22 546

Trades Left: 23

Remaining Salary: $159 400

Trade History

Rd4 – Mitchell Hibberd (NTH) to Nic Newman (SYD) & Max Gawn (MEL) to Stefan Martin (BRL)

Rd5 – Tim Taranto (GWS) to Zac Fisher (CAR) & Jaeger O’Meara (HAW) to Marc Murphy (CAR)

Rd6 – Sam Powell-Pepper(PTA) to Harley Balic (FRE) & Jarryd Roughead (HAW) to Lance Franklin (SYD)

Rd7 – Brandan Parfitt (GEE) to James Parsons (GEE)

We held our overall ranking with that score of 1980 (good year, that!) and had 5/10 League wins, so it wasn’t a total disaster.  Just disappointed that we lost our SCT Cup match-up by 11 aggregate pts to ‘Straight Sets’.  Good luck to you, Sir!  The TEAM is as follows………

I’ve got the TEAM write-up happening earlier in the week so we can get our trades in order.  I decided not to use a 2nd trade last week since there wasn’t really a consensus in which direction we should be heading.

Hampton & Otten have fairly high BreakEvens making them ‘ripe’ for the picking.  However, a distinct lack of downgrade targets might put a dampener on those efforts.  There is also enough cash in the bank to go straight from Otten to Kade Simpson if we feel inclined (In our DEF polls, he was listed as a Top6 DEF).

It is a democracy though and everyone can get their voice heard.  Enter your proposed trades into the comments below and our Coaching Staff will approve/disapprove using the Thumbs UP/DOWN function.  Thanks, Coaches!

** UPDATE at 6.45pm on 11.5.17 **

Ok, Coaches……we haven’t been hit too hard by the team selections.  Treloar will hurt but we should have enough cover.  Judging by the initial comments, we are trading out Hampton & Houston this week (any objections?).  The following polls will determine who we upgrade/downgrade to.  Choose wisely……….thanks for your help this week, Coaches!

    1. Considering Houston is playing GCS and Butler is playing Freo with a similar BE, My vote would be for
      Butler to myers via pickett
      Hampton to Adams

  1. The defence line is quite strong, so pending Newman coming back into the Swans side, and Mcneice being named for his 3rd game:
    Hampton > McNeice
    Houston > Bont (via Florent/Pickett)

    1. Like it Baps , but leaves fwd line vulnerable with Parsons , Eddy , Pickett or Forent fwd.
Eddy bagged another 5 goals in the SANFL so could be a good in this week , but his JS is always shaky.

  2. Houston needs to go as he has the Round 9 Bye and with Parson’s job security looking shaky the Team could be looking at a donut.

I think Black even though he has had a 61k price rise is a better downgrade option as is guaranteed to make cash where as Myers is a risky selection having played only 1 game.

The classic Josh Glenn is always opened up taking those risks.

With the 159k in the bank as well as the 90k from the Houston to Black trade there is still enough cash to go Hampton to Adams.

    1. Don’t mind it at all, TDA! At least there’s more of a pattern starting to emerge this week with Houston/Hampton…….

  3. If McNeice gets a game I’d go Hampton to McNiece and Houston to Adams via Picket/Balic play Adams in the Mid for now, swing him back to defence later

  4. Hampton -> McNiece
Otten -> Taylor Adams (will definitely be a top 3-5 defender and has a BE of 84 this week so won’t be this cheap for a while)

      1. Good point … In that case how about we downgrade Hampton and upgrade Otten to Simmo?

Downgrade suggestions… who ever has best JS out of Berry, EVW, Melican or McNiece.

    1. Take 2 – Simmo has rd11 bye.

      1. Hampton to Berry (good JS)

      2. Otten to Adams OR Houston to Bont/Adams via dpp

      1. Not at all, just looking at data. 🙂

111.3 average since I got him in three rounds ago.

One of us! One of us!

  5. trade option
    Otten to Berry
    Houston to Nankervis
    Hampton to Berry
    Houston to Nankervis
Otten trade leaves $170,300 in the bank
Hampton trade leaves $99,400 in the bank
Nankervis gives us options for the bye rds and a back up ruckman
and a 105 ave Nankervis could be a keeper in fwds

  6. Thoughts on today’s update …
    1. Berry is the best downgrade. Myers next week,
    2. Buddy is a good upgrade target.
    3. Surely we cannot pick Pendles as C/VC since he has stared he will leave the game if the baby comes.

  7. Surely with Houston not named, we can sit on him and look at other options … he doesn’t lose value …
