The TEAM 2017 – Ruck Structure

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 2 2017

You’re here at SCT, you’re part of the TEAM!  Simple as that……….

Today we tackle the important question of Ruck Structure in 2017.  The results here will impact the rest of the TEAM structure which will be voted on next week.  It’s quite easy, we have two options…………

Set & Forget – two Premium Ruckmen to start the season.  All going well, these two Rucks will play (nearly) every week and average 105+ for the year.

Wait & See – one Premium Ruck (as above) & one mid-pricer.  Ideally this mid-pricer would have the ability to score 95+ and be traded to a fallen Premium around the Bye Rounds.

There it is, Coaches……..which way are you leaning?  Do you want to see two ‘keepers’ in the Ruck straight away?  Or sacrifice one for an extra MID Premium?

** This has no bearing on the name of the TEAM, of course.  That final vote will occur early next week! **

Which Ruck Structure would you recommend for the TEAM in 2017?

  • Set & Forget - two Premiums for the entire season (55%, 98 Votes)
  • Price Drop - one Premium + one mid-pricer (45%, 81 Votes)

Total Voters: 179

  1. Gawn Grundy combo for me,

    Sandi/Ryder/Nanverkis to risky
Maritn has Archie smith in Brisbane’s 22
    Goldy has Pruess & Daw
    Jacobs is finished

  2. I wanna throw up the idea of getting pruess. No rucks are really standing out so far outside of gawn (maybe grundy) and pruess looks to be best 22 at north.

Based on his preseason he will score decently for a rookie and could allow depth on another line.

    1. Too risky for R2 – Piggy backing with Goldstein on field and sitting at R3 would be an idea though.

  3. I’ve got Grundy, but I’m concerned about the effect Mason Cox has on his scoring. From memory, his average was down about 15 ppg when Cox was in the team last year.
If Nankervis and/or Ryder and/or Sandilands plays well this weekend, I say option 2.

    1. Didn’t even look into that but average with (89) and average without (103) does make a case for it.

Last 7 rounds Grundy scored 100+ on every occasion except once… and thats when Cox was in the team.

  4. I think Gawn a lock. Everyone’s fighting it out for second spot. I think we either go Goldy or a cheap ruck. Not a fan of any other premo rucks atm.

  5. At 40+ points under valued, it’s almost a bigger risk to not pick Sandi if he looks okay on the weekend.

Him + one of Gawn or Goldy will be the way to go. I think Gawn and Goldy will average pretty similar this year, so am going with Goldy and spending the $60k elsewhere. Sandi potential keeper, otherwise upgrade to Gawn post byes.

  6. I am going Gawn and Goldy, set and forgot its to risky in rucks to go with unproven players or players with injury history.

  7. I did have Gawn/Grundy but I’ve since been convinced Grundy sharing the field with Cox decreases his output. That and Goldy’s casual run on the weekend showed he’s ready to roll with some big scores.

Another year of watching the late outs for North!

    1. Stressful times that! I almost missed a flight out of Prague last year trying to restructure my team in the airport lobby when Goldstein was a late out.
