I really need Isaac Smith to get his 3rd gig for the Hawks. That’s sad. I am relying on a 2 game rookie to avoid the doughnut.
Also stoked for the role in SCT for the week. Hey Biggie, can you let us in on your formula for the selection commitee or should I just shut up and feel the love?

Also a shame about Omen. Poor bastard keeps getting rubbed out for all sorts of crap. Not sure what he did for this one but getting suspended for D & D was nasty stuff.

PA, I think people just dislike the fact that the teams came out late tonight and therefore had to wait an extra 1/2 hour.

I know a snapped achillies would normally sideline somebody for at least 12 months (ala Jarryd Roughead), but just watch bender make a miraculous recovery and be fit, firing & playing in the SCT team next week.
Isaac finally getting his 3rd game has lifted my mood a bit after being totally depressed with the amount if outs I have this week.

I’ve got some trade decisions to make this week. I’d like to get a host of players, but can only bring in 1 premium this week as I’ve got nothing in the bank. I think I’ve narrowed it down to either Fisher in backline, or Cyril in forwards. What do people think?

Mid: Boyd Judd Thompson Ablett montagna A.Swallow

Ruck: Cox Griffin

I know i have an extra mid premium, but it saves me from trading out Judd end of season and to cover for byes, it was my strategy, might backfire but we’ll see

I plan on getting either Howe or Strauss this week as a downgrade. Not sure which one though. Howe is gonna be inconsistent but will be good for quick bucks and I think his JS is alright but with Petterd coming in he might be in danger of getting dropped. Strauss has got more potential but has pretty shite JS too. Can I get some thumbs?

Straussy: DOWN

Good evening all,
A quick predicament, thumbs UP or DOWN request. I was originally intending on bringing in J. Strauss in DEF (probably trade out Thompson or Stanley). However, with the news that I. Smith will finally get his 3rd game, this gives me pause.
Thumbs UP – Trade in I. Smith

Comments too would be appreciated.

Harris is an absolute NO BRAINER if you ask me. Am astounded by the evenness of this poll. Have people forgotten he’s hit the ton 3 times this year? Averaging 18 points per game more than Jacobs and is an older, bigger body with way more AFL match experience (Harris: 153 games Jacobs: 4) and will spend more time in the midfield. Why the indecision???

Oh hello Round 13…. You could be the worst round so far in Supercoach history.
No multi bye, yet most of us will have massive gaps (INSERT KIM DUTHIE JOKE HERE) in our teams.
Wave goodbye this weekend to the Pies, Mundy, Adcock, D.Swallow, Roughie, Z.Smith, Hille & of course J.Selwood…the only AFL player who has caused more damage to an eardrum since Fev got a gig on GOLD 104 FM.
And welcome with open arms to I.Smith, Montagna, Barlow, Mumford, Hale & Pears.
Now we all know choosing a Captain is like choosing a wife (pick the wrong one & u pretty much lose everything), So the 3 best brides i think would be….
*Buddy, kicking a handbag full of goals against GCS plus the Hawks are honeymooning in Tassie.
*Big Cox, walking down the aisle & all over Port at home
*J. Kelly (98.64pts), could be the bridesmaid finally becoming the bride….with no ring on finger (tag) & no sign of the bride (Selwood), this sexy pussycat could steal our hearts & make us get on bended knee.
(BTW Could i make footy sound any gayer than i already have?)
This season has had the best rookie output i’ve seen in the last few years….Mzunga is already a star, Suckling came out of no where & sucker punched us, Curnow looks the goods, Z.Smith is the SC ruck saviour, D.Swallow will be better than Andrew, J.Darling is West Coast’s forward line future & Heppell deserves most valuable MPP.
Great to hear Sandi is back in rnd 14 after a bout of turf toe (if u kept him, good 4 u….if u didnt, good 4 u cuz you’ll probably need that spare cash to make big trades anyways) & is Cam Richardson the new Cam Pedersen?
It’s probably gonna take the next 24 hrs to finally get your team right b4 the dreaded LOCKOUT, so sit down in front of the laptop….light some candles….open up a beer….& make some hard decisions.
Good Luck SCT coaches

- Clinton Young & Chance Bateman are his direct competition for the pacy outside midfielder role. Both are out with medium-long term injury. He will play the next three games.
- Young is desperately out of form
- He was not ‘dropped’ – he was injured against the Saints.
- Hawthorn see him as a long-term replacement for Bateman
He will not be the sub. Not sure why this fear has come about..

Anyone else think Max Bailey might be worth a trade down?
Rucks: Cox, Sandi, Smith and McCauley.
3rd in main league, 7-2 record, playing second this week.
$55,600 in bank, 10 trades less 1 for Selwood -> GAJ.
Like the look of Vardy but he’s exxy now and in a very good side.
Bailey will surely keep his spot if he can stay fit and is cheap.
Other option is cop a doughnut, as I might lose even with Bailey. But I feel like I have too much cash on bench and $ from Smith downgrade will be very handy for last 8 trades.
Bailey, Vardy or keep Zac Smith?

Any idea how long Renouf’s bruised liver would keep him out for? Don’t wish upon anyone having such an injury like this, but if he were to be out for a few weeks, then Bailey could be ideal downgrade for Z. Smith until Sandi returns in 2-3 weeks. Roughy out as well helps. I agree Scatts some nice cash to be made. Strongly considering doing this as I have Cox, Sandi and Petrie as well.

Agree that Hawkins is a spud, I guess I’m just saying that Vardy’s in a very competitive team, even if he does look like he belongs. And he’s not that cheap. Then again, Bailey’s not guaranteed a regular spot. I do think though that job security is pretty important in a Smith downgrade. Most people’s 4th ruck can’t be relied on for cover

The big question is; will Sandlilands be back in time for Cox’s bye (Rd 15). I’m holding off on the Smith downgrade until this is known. Thankfully Petrie fills the gap for this week.

Yeah Mike I am leaniong toward this also even though it is filled with danger. First there’s the JS for Bailey over next 4 weeks, and what about Cox’x bye? We will be in the same situation then! I am actually thinking of trading young J.Tippett from GC to Bailey. It will give me $20,000 and I will have 4 playing ruckman. Having said that I only have 11 trades left…should I burn one for this?

Personally I’m sideways trading Sandilands as I dont think he’ll be back until after his bye. This helps me avoid a duck-egg for this round and rd 15. Hoping to have enough trades come finals to possibly trade sandi back in for Goldstein. if I dont, then I play Cox and Smith Rd 21 (NM Bye) and finish the last 3 rounds with Sandi and Goldstein. If there is one game in the home and away season we need to win this year, it’s this one.
We’ve never been good against top 4 teams and despite our solid win-loss record over the last couple of years, we’ve always lacked that big scalpe.
Mumford back is a HUGE inclusion, and Jack will hopefully keep his ankle together and do a better job on Judd (he was going alright until his injury last time).
Think we’re gonna’ have a really good dip at this one and I personally like our chances.
Really looking forward to it.

That said, i’ve just had a brainwave … with Isaac Smith playing i am tempted to play him in the mids this week (likely that he’ll score respectably against GC and he’s listed on the field so he’s not looking like being the sub).
Would mean next week i can bring in a cheapened Swan instead of a pricey GAJ ….. hmmmmmmmmm

Nice one Roo. Gonna be a low scoring week for 90% of teams regardless but a low scores is a little more bearable without a doughnut.
Just figured out a way around it too. Also I haven’t gone too far away from my original plan.
My full team will have a bench of Adcock, Shaw, Howard, Pendles, Swan, Selwood, Sandi, J.Tippett, Roughead, Didak, Krak.

That reminds me of myself last year. I know what it feels when week-in-week-out you cop an opponent who scores way above their usually average right on your fixture. I bombed out in 9th spot Richmond style in my only cash league last season after finishing 3rd/4th on the overall table.

Looking to trade out Zac Smith for David Hale and add $167,300 to megre $10K in bank. Petrie then goes in ruck until Sandi returns & while Cox on bye. Hale to be F8 moving while Petrie in Ruck or R3 otherwise.
Gives me enough money to get either Gablett or Boyd + money for final up-grade prior to finals (got 11 left at the moment).
Thumbs up – Ablett
Thumbs down – Boyd (Bob Murphy only other dog)

What I am doing is going Smith to Tippett which then allows me to put Petrie in the rucks. I have cover with I Smith in the forward line. I was always going to do this to get the cash and its around $270K.

It seems I’ve escaped the carnage of this round quite well. Will get away with just the one trade: selwood to boyd/ablett and the only notables on my bench will be shaw, swan, smith. Could be the prefect chance for another rankings boost
Expecting big things from the boys this week.

Ive pulled this quote from the SC sites preview,of this week in regards to +cock.
“Bad news from up north is that Jed Adcock will miss with a broken finger that he has had surgery on. We still aren’t sure how long he will miss, but could be 2-3 weeks. If you have plenty of trades, get rid of him otherwise, ride it out with bench cover.”
Hopefully its 3 max, any more and its a worry.

I’m sure if he had not dropped 100K from his high a few weeks ago people may have cashed in on him. However for his current price i’m going to keep him & hope he’s back pumping out ton scores by Rd 17. Don’t regret picking him up prior to Rd 1 & he’ll come good.

Plus we have the super-sub in Punky Breuster (got a sneaking suspicion they might let him have a full run against the Suns though).

What do you guys think
Want to upgrade Darling to Buddy this week but am about $20k short. Was going to downgrade someone to make do but now with Z.Smith sitting out i will be coping a donut in the ruck. Was thinking about maybe getting downgrading Z.Smith to Hale (will be able to swap with Petrie if required) – think Hale might get a go at Roughy’s role. I probably would’ve downgraded Smith in finals time anyone to free up cash.
Also wanted to try and get I.Smith in for either Bewick, Richardson. T.Lynch (even Darling if i abort the buddy trade) Worried about I.Smiths JS but thinking he could be good to make some quick cash.
Only have 9 trades left so want to be a bit careful.
Teams is almost settled with only Yarran the only other one i will look at upgrading before finals.

Hi Fellas,
Lots of dillemmas around the traps today it seems with big outs and injuries…
Personally Im keeping Z Smith and coping a donut….But have two dillemas that I need a little asistance with ….
Dilemma 1
Downgrading Darling ….but to who…..worried about Smiths JS and not sure whether he will play enough games to milk come finals time if needed…and worries about Howes scores in an average side
I Smith —– Thumbs up
Howe ——–Thumbs down
Hot debate. What do you think?

Dilemma 2
Upgrading Selwood but to who
Ablett——- thumbs up
Priddis ——- thumbs down ( Priddis worth 70k less)
Appreciate the assistance in advance as alwaysa team!!!!
Hot debate. What do you think?

Thinking I’m going against the masses to pick Priddis

Smith is a better player but have a feeling he’s come in not on form but more due to Young’s hammy and Guerra’s ear. JS a big issue for him. Does have DPP if that’s a factor for you.

Thanks fellas…
Im leaning Priddis at this stage also due to his run home, super consistency and current price. But Gablett is in that sort of form currently where you can also keep the big C on him and not have to think twice…Can he maintain it with the workload he has this year is the question…If he can his price is decent also …
As for Smith vs Howe …I feel Smith will score well when he plays…Is it worth keeping him for the odd game he does get and using other emergencies when he is out and if he scores 80′s everytime he plays even if its 4-5 games he will reach that 280k mark thats worth milking…. or do you take Howe that is also decent and wil play every week but might be playing in a forward line that wont get the oppurtunities every game…(but i suppose wright from adelaide is fattening well in a forward line thats not winning much so it is possible)…..Im leaning howe …subject to change

Lets face it both iSmith and Howe have questionable JS so we are really just guessing. Toss a coin perhaps?
Howe may be replaced by Petterd and or Bate next week and iSmith has Young and Bateman to compete with.
I am leaning towards iSmith purely bc of his DPP. This means that if he does not play I can bench swap with Mzungu for cover where needed.

Whats the better trading sequence?
Option 1
Z Smith – Vardy
Darling – Sylvia (Next week)
Option 2
Harris – I Smith
Darling – Sylvia (Next week)
The Vardy trade saves me a doughnut this week and approx an extra $15k.
The I smith trade however opens up another MPP link in the mids to help cover byes/injuries.
Thumbs up for Opt 1
Thumbs down for Opt 2

I am actually doing the 1st option myself.
However, my ruckmen are:- Cox
Sandi
Smith
J.Tippet(GC)
I am actually thinking of trading young J.Tippett from GC to Bailey. It will give me $20,000 and I will have 4 playing ruckman. Having said that I only have 11 trades left…should I burn one for this? Or should I trade smith for Bailey/Vardy straight up and hope that Sandi is back for the Cox bye in a fortnight? I dont think Sansi will be back until after the Roubd 16 bye.

My plan is to swing Petrie into the ruck to cover zSmith and hold onto zSmith until finals time. I can milk him for a cheapie and use the cash to bulk up the team during finals.
because of this plan I will bring iSmith (maybe Howe) in for Matera this week to cover the Petrie hole up forward.

I dont usually like to post my team, but I will in this case as its a difficult week with omissions, suspensions etc.
Deledio, Gibbs, Fisher, Heppell, Broughton, Lower, Hibberd (SHAW, McKernan, Markovic)
Thompson, Bartel, Ablett, Cotchin, Mzungu, SELWOOD (SWAN, PENDLES, BUCKLEY)
Cox, Petrie (Smith, McCauley)
Buddy, N.Reiwoldt, Goodes, Fyfe, Darling, Duncan, DAWES (Tippett, Tappscott, Matera)
As you can see, Ive got a full team this week except 2 spots….. with 130k spare I can get 2 “cheaper” premiums in (ie. Mitchell, Cyril, Pav, Goddard) for Selwood + Matera/Tappscott. I do feel that Isaac Smith could do really well against GC (as with any of the Hawks boys), but is his JS good??
My mids at full strength have 7 premiums aswell, which is extremely handy when they have byes, but sucks when theyre all playing and Ive gotta start Cotchin on the bench. Maybe bringing in a MPP (ie Pav, Goddard, Sylvia??) in for Selwood is smart (to bolster my FWD or DEF after this round), then upgrade a bench FWD to a premium.
Thoughts are welcome if youve got nothing bettter to do on a friday.

I would go Matera to Smith as Matera has hit his highest price. Word is that Tapscott will be back soon. Plus gives you another DPP. Then go Selwood to Pav if your only going for league wins. That means you can put Smith into midfield bench and put Pav into forward line with Cotchin on the field so ul have 6 premium midfielders (if u class Cotchin as a premium). Then after St Kilda bye get Goddard for someone in the backline.

I would go Matera to iSmith then use the cash to upgrade McKernan/Markovic to Goddard. Swing Goddard into the midfield for Buckley to avoid zero’s this week.
Next week trade Joelwood for any premium you like.

Good suggestion Jimbo…. very possible solution.
Good suggestion Kernel also, never really thought of doing that!!
Is Goddard a risk vs Cats this week, and then a liability with the bye next week considering ive also got Fisher and Reiwoldt??
That would leave me with a full team this week, rids me of 2 dreaded bench losers who cant be relied on to play let-alone get a good score, and gives me 2 valuable MPP assets in Goddard and Smith. It also allows me to keep Selwood, which may not be a bad thing, because in 3 weeks when he plays again, hes going to be furious and get 45 touches a game.

Have to trade Selwood and Mundy out to avoid a donut and have two options in mind.
Option 1 is Mundy > I Smith and Selwood > G Ablett ( this option would give me enough $ to upgrade to Pendles and another premium fwd next week)
And Option 2 is Mundy > Sylvia and Selwood > eg. Judd, Mitchell, Wells (this option is pretty much a straight swap money and average wise)
Thumbs up option 1
Thumbs down option 2

its predicted to be raining and windy so Im not going to go Buddy. Boyd is a safe pick. I dont know why u have three quality ruckman but maybe its time to downgrade Hille to someone to get the cash. If you have Petrie in forward line get Joel Tippet and swap petrie into rucks for cover. Otherwise maybe Bailey but im not confident in him.
Plus Cox is a must have. In the end you prob wanna get rid of Goldstein because of finals bye so straight swap to him come finals time.

My finger’s hovering over the trade button as well. Would be nice just to hit it and get the stress over Ablett/Boyd over with. Been tossing and turning all week, named Ablett as the #1 in my article, but have been with Boyd the last few days because of the extra $55K in the bank balance would be handy. Think I will just go with the little master in the end. We know he can average over 140 in a season, and consequently has a way better track record than Boyd over previous years. I don’t care about trades anymore. I have made my last trade till the finals and will only need to trade out Gibbs and Heppell. Just this second traded out Smith for ruck muppet and upgraded ‘Mundy Bloody Mundy’ to Jesus. This of course means that I am putting the fate of my ruck division in the hands of 211′s big toe to come through before the Weagles bye round. I will be keeping Selwood and his ‘Open Palm of Fury’ technique because he is still scoring very well and I will NOT be playing in the second week of the finals!!!……………I hope…………you hear me Gaz Snr?

What’s everyones thoughts on the young Irish lad from Carlton’s backline, Zach Tuohy as a possible downgrade target for Lower/Duigan/Stanley? Started as sub in his 1st game and scored 79 in his 2nd. Guys, coming 264th so still have my sights well and truly set on overall.
Thumbs up- Play Bewick this week and trade Selwood to Pendles next week keeping in mind Pendles will likely be rested later in the season quite possibly round 23 against Freo in Perth which clashes with Carlton bye (I have murph) or round 22 against Brisbane at the G which clashes with Geelong bye (Chappy and Enright).
Thumbs down- Trade Selwood to Watson this week (don’t have to worry about him not playing until round 24) and was in super form until he got injured.
If I went option 1 I would lose 60-80 points this week alone but Pendles should make that up over Watson over the remainder of the year although the potential of a rest does worry me.

Smith has pretty poor JS although having some extra cash is quite good especially with the trades your planning. If Smith is just bench cover then go for it. Newman is consistent but Johncock is a POD but up and down too much. Either is a good choice coz both have byes when league matches aren’t on.

Yeah not upgrading this week but over the next few weeks was going to do this with my $570,800:
Iles – Swan Rd 15
Duigan – Fisher Rd 15
Krak – Sylvia Rd 17
This will give me a really strong team I think. And then I have 5 trades in case for any injuries. My bench players can then cover anyone having a bye in the finals.

I have Selwood, and not sure whether to get rid of him. I’m leaning towards trading him out for Isaac Smith, and using the cash for upgrades in the weeks to come – thoughts?
I had planned to downgrade Heppell to Strauss and Darling to Howe – should I just do that anyway, considering Z. Smith is likely to be only out for one week and Selwood’s price won’t change anyway?
If I do want to cover the ruck shortage, who do I go for? Considering Bailey, Varcoe, Seaby and Griffin, but will probably end up copping the zero this week so that I can retain Smith for decent finals cover. Again, thoughts?
Any help much appreciated!

Cop a donut Smith should be out for 1 week with soreness. No good rookie rucks in my opinion. Missed the Vardy train. I Smith will give you flexibility and personally I would get rid of Selwood. Out for four weeks is too much for a premium. Plus cash next week will let you upgrade where ever you need to.

So happy right now I traded Knights for Howe instead of Darling! Now next week it’ll be Darling for Sylvia.
