  5. Need a downgrade target for my forward line and can’t choose Callinan or Talia. I don’t really need them to play, just cover and to make some cash. Who has better JS??
    THUMBS UP – Callinan
    THUMBS DOWN – Talia

    Cheers guys.

  7. Here we are….ROUND 17.
It’s so close to Supercoach finals….i can almost smell the fear & panic of those trying to make the top 8. You’ve got till Round 21 to try & establish your spot for finals glory….
So make it count SCT coaches.

    The Rundown….

Supercoach bench favourite M.Hibberd gets a rest whilst H.Slattery comes in for the Mighty Bombers, Adelaide brings in B.Smith & R.Henderson while R.Douglas & injured I.Callinan go out. Miracles can happen as the bald headed dynamo G.Ablett is named in the Suns side despite makin thousands of coaches cry last week (if you traded him out earlier in the week…for shame), J.Toy gets a recall but goal sneak B.Matera & K.Hunt miss the cut. Richmond give T.Hislop & J.Post get the flick while M.White & A.Browne get the tick. The Pies bring in veteran B.Johnson at the expense of S.Buckley. J.Waite & A.Carazzo are out of the Blues side due to injury & 3 rookies are in (M.Watson, E.Curnow & debutant W.Twomey).
D.Kerr misses out this week for the Eagles but some massive in’s for an already strong side with tall forward Q.Lynch, rookie A.Gaff & missing defender B.Waters coming in. Big kicking rookie L.Tapscott gets the nod for the Demons as well as A.Maric but S.Blease & J.Bennell get the chop. Possession getter S.Salopek walks into Port’s side. Last years favourite rookie sensation M.Barlow gets another run to establish himself in the Dockers midfield while former Essendon rejects K.Bradley & A.McPhee get named on the extended bench. Huge changes for the Cats with premiership players B.Ottens (suspension) & D.Wojcinski (omitted) out but future captain J.Selwood back (good for you if you held onto him) is the boost Geelong needs. J.Corey ,D.Milburn & S.Brynes are also on the extended bench. M.Clark comes in to give Brisbane another forward target but rookie cashcow R.Bewick misses out…also Barry Hall’s favourite punching bag B.Staker is another welcome return. The Kangas drop L.Thomas to the two’s while G.Urquart & B.Warren are named on the extended bench…sorry people…no C.Richardson. Big strong W.Minson & tough defender D.Addison have their names on the Bulldogs bench with no one dropped as yet.

    *TRADES*
Rookie cashcow ready to burst? Need an upgrade to a genuine star for added firepower on the bench…..here’s a look at the best midfield options under $400k:

L.Montagna (STK) $382,600/ 96.00 av – Despite an injury earlier in the season affecting his run through the midfield….Monty has found his mojo recently with his scores of 97 & 95 in his past two matches. Is a great decision maker with a elite foot skills. With a dream run of games ahead & no bye, he is the perfect bench option to have come SC finals time.

J.Bartel (GEE) $348,800/98.93 av – Hasn’t had his best season….but when you get concussed 3 times this year, you can’t really blame him. A quiet achiever who can put up monster scores (159 in rnd 3 & 144 in rnd 11) when on song. May have a finals bye but would be a superb midfield back up leading up to finals time.

A.Cooney (WB) $391,300/ 83.82 av – Another brownlow medallist who has had a slow start to the season with a reaccuring knee injury but has since lifted his game & the bulldogs. Proven superstar who can break the lines with his pace & has the skills to match. Been on a killer run over the last 3 rounds averaging 112.3pts.

C.Sylvia (MEL) $392,000/96.79 av – Last two games have been sub par but still has that ability to turn the game on its head with his hard at the ball mentality & tackling pressure. Can kick goals & is a MID/FWD so you have added flexibility plus no byes during finals. Worth considering.

RISKY PICK: S.Higgins (WBD) $383,200/87.17 av – Injury plagued youngster who has shown promise in past seasons but hasn’t quite fulfilled our supercoach expectations. Has hit consistent form of late that’s just to hard to ignore (95.6 av over last 5 games). Also a MID/FWD which is always a handy bonus.

Looks like another big round in Supercoach.

Best of Luck to all you SCT coaches….here’s to a win over the weekend 🙂

  9. Small miracle, all the players I switched around on Monday after r16’s lockout are all playing. Could have left my team as is. Pendlebury capt, Vcapt Swan. See how Strauss and Jacobs go in my backline. (I’m playing the bottom team in one of my leagues and I’m third). Got Darling on my bench as an *E, wonder what he’ll come up with. Be interesting if Gawn ends up playing (doubt it) he’s on my ruck bench.. have listed Vards as my Emerg though of course. That’s it folks.

  11. With the SCT team selection panel MIA this week (probably at the pub), I thought I’d take take the reigns and try to get our best side out on the park to give it a red hot crack on the weekend. Some are very unlucky to not to have made it, but keep your chins up and keep working hard.

    SCT team for round 17

Backs: Yiorgakis, BLeeDiNG ReD & BLaCK, Squizz
Half Backs: The Hairy Cat, Happy Go Lucky, Bender
Centers: Rustee, Deano, Cam – formally known as Cameron

Apologies if I got your names wrong, but indent have them in front of me. Some will play out of position this round, but it’s all for the better of the team long term. Go out there and just give it your all so we all get to sing the team song after the game.

  15. Great to see Simon Hogan named, even if it is just on the extended bench.
Wish him all the best with his return from depression.

  16. Henderson v Cloke
    Are you kidding me?
By all means experiment Ratts but don’t you think you’re taking things a bit too far.

  17. In a very strange place at the moment. For the first time in my not so short lifetime, I’ll be watching the blockbuster with the weirdest feeling that I’m somehow supporting Collingwood. With Swan, Pendlebury, Shaw and Cloke making up four Magpies in the line up and Judd and Gibbs the only Blues, my head and heart are in complete conflict.

  18. As much as I love Damo Hardwick, what are u thinking with Shane Tuck??? His a proven performer and should be getting games every week no matter what, his our most experinced and arguably best midfielder. Kinda a bit like a poor man’s Matty Boyd.

  19. Hi SCT coaches, looking for your advice this week on my D7

Adcock has been really annoying me over the last 6 odd weeks but I know, he’s capable of pulling a ton from time to time.

My question is, which player should I start on the ground this week?

    Adcock…. thumbs up
    Lower…….thumbs down

  20. Just wondering, do they play with the sub rule in the VFL, WAFL, SANFL etc? Reakon clubs should try to mould someone in the ‘Super Sub’.

  21. Got 8 trades left, $205,000 cash & hopefully top 4 in League. My head is saying save trades with Gablett price on the fall, but defence needs some strengthening for finals & Duigan or L.Thompson to Heath Shaw very tempting this week. Current team:-
Lids, Gibbs, Godd, Broughton, Murphy, +cock, Heppell, (Lower, Duigan, L.Thompson)
Swan, S.Thompson, Boyd, Pav, Mzunga, A.Krak (Mitchell, Smith, Jacobs)
    Cox, Z.Smith, (Hale, Detrickx)
ROK, Goodes, Stevie J, NRoo, Sylvia, Petrie, Darl (Buddy, Rioli, Knights)
Thumbs UP – sit tight or Thumbs DOWN – Duigan or L.Thomp to H.Shaw

  22. Not much for Supercoachers, but in general footy tips thinking of backing the Power in Darwin, be wary that Dom Cassisi and Jay Schulz haven’t flown up with the team today. Dom’s wife is due with their baby any time now and Jay is attending a family funeral tomorrow. They are expected to fly up tomorrow but may not play. Broadbent and Stewart have flown up with the team today as emergencies and may be a last minute call-up.

  23. If i do trade to improve team prior to finals looking at: –
    Rd 17 – Duigan to H.Shaw
Rn 18 – Knights to Talia (can now DPP with R.Murphy)
Rn 19 – Darling to I.Callinan (extra DPP)
Rn 20 – L.Thompson to Sam Fischer (too late to get fish due to tough SC finals even though cheap at this point? – save 200K for finals?)
    Rnd 20 I.Smith / Mzunga / A.Krak for Gary Ablett
I was hoping Knights & Darling would continue for 75 type scores for back up forwards but Talia & Callinan looking like similar scorers, with DPP + can cash up. Does anyone know if Knights is far off with his calf (or is he more out of favour?) & if the break will spark him back to form?
    Any thoughts?

  24. Looks like the 2012 season has come early with 7 “LIVE” games this weekend on the tellie . Only CH7 didn’t come to the party by having the Brisbane v Cats game on an 1hr delay this Sundee, even though the game’s being played at the Gabba 😳

  27. Copied from the supercoach preview

“Essendon have lost Michael Hibberd through “soreness”. A little birdy has told me that it is actually a hamstring injury.”

    Interesting.
Hope not, He was making good bench cover.

  31. OMGFFS!
Just when you thought it was time to crack a cold one…
Only have 3 trades left. Should I:

    Thumbs Up
Slot Talia in off the bench for his debut and take some more time to think about the Shaw debacle?

    Thumbs Down
Get rid of the stupid b@stard right now for Hurn, head to the finals with 2 trades and go and get plastered?

  35. Crows v Bombers SUBS – (Herald Sun) ESSENDON has named Henry Slattery as its sub as it looks to consolidate its top-eight spot against Adelaide tonight.

First-year player Brodie Smith will don the red vest for the Crows, with both sides going into the match as named.
