Lucky I missed the GF, otherwise I’d be upset by Hodge not playing :)

Missing Hodge, Brown, Didak and JPod .. one trade and 100K to splash

With no late withdrawals i won’t cop a 0 but a few of my lines will be below GF standard.

Now, to figure out whether i get Broughton for defence or Jack Riewoldt, Chappy, Macaffer, Thomas or Scott Stevens for forwards.

On closer examination i currently only have 21 fit players so i’m forced into a fwd trade to avoid a dreaded doughnut. In 3 GF’s and my $$ league opponent will be in same position – no doughnuts but some 2nd string players stepping up to starring roles.

It’ll be Didak out for ??? in.

Jack Riewoldt (vs Port) or Chappy (vs WEagles) could both go big.

Surely at least 2 of your opponents have Chappy? If so, get him.

Chappy/Hammy = late withdrawal?
Jack = Big defenders at Port. I’d go Rioli or B Hall should kick 6.

The Ice Man ( Frosty) Hasn’t asked trade advice all year but I would appreciate some input to win 3 GF’s.
1 Trade Left & $125,600
Backs: God, Hodge, Esky, Heater, Enright, Tadhg, Waters
E – Strijk, A Smith
Mids: GAJ, Selwood, NDS, Montagna, Judd, Mitchell
E – Banner, Gysberts
Rucks: Sandi, Jolly
E – Warnock & Who Cares
Fwds: Chappy, Boomer, Pav, Buddy, Goodes, ROK, N.Roo
E – Pods & Playfair

Really don’t know what to do. No forward emergency may hurt, easy option is to trade out Hodge & hope everyone else plays.
Thoughts Please!!!!!!

You’ve done remarkably well to avoid the absenteeism this week barring Hodge who everyone has.

Hodge for Broughton (if you’ve got $5,300 in the kitty that is).

Wanted to do those Saints blokes but worried about the Adel fwds who shut down Harry O & Heater last week. Thinking Broughton with Carl’s lack of fwd line.

It was Will Young who shut down Harry O and won the plasma TV with his two touches .. and he’s out inj this week.

Hey Ice, I don’t think you couldn’t go wrong with Gilbert/Fisher/Broughton….. I haven’t seen enough of Broughton play to reccomend him (but he does score well), I have Gilbert, and he’ll generally give you 80-110, and Fisher is similar.

No avoiding a donut this week for me, but if my opponent has no trades left (fingers crossed) he’ll cop two.
Have already thrown in the towel in my DT GF where I’m looking at 3, possibly 4, jam balls.

Thinking of making a left-field captain pick this week:
Goodes could run amok.
Or Boyd might put his hand up and make a statement given the recent lack of leadership by the Doggies.

Managed to avoid a 0 this week. But have:
Hodge->Smith
Brown->Fyfe
Didak->Blair

Hopefully there isn’t anymore injuries, otherwise it won’t be looking good.

Well an early win before the GF even starts! I have Hodge and Kepler on the sidelines. Opponent has Hodge, Didak, JPOD and Brown. If he has 2 trades left he will have 2 bench players (Gourdis and Roberton) in his best 22. I have one trafe left which will be used to get rid of Hodge for Broughton. Warnock will come off the pine for Kepler. I hope he has no trades remaining!

I may be in strife: I have Hodge in the backline with no bench cover (J Hunt and B Sheppard both out.
In the forwards I have Didak and J Brown to move out as I have no cover with Pods and Rohan on the timber. There’s definitely a Doey in there somewhere but not sure fo the best moves. I have $100k in the bank and saved up two trades for the granny. Chappy looks a solid move, but do I shore up the forwards or utilise Hodgey’s cash to bring in some quality… Thoughts fellow Supercoaches?

Well, despite a bunch of outs I will manage 22 players on the ground this week. I also have a trade so Hodge will be upgraded, though I’m unsure who to at this point.

My opponent has 4 donuts. Tough break for him, lucky for me.

Hey guys, long time reader first time poster but need advice for my GF this week. I have $175000 and 2 trades left. My team reads:

Backs: God, Hodge, Enright, Gilbert, Kelly, Waters, Kennelly
E: Strijk, Silvagni
Mids: Ablett, Selwood, Bartel, Montagna, Judd, Martin
E: Bastinac, Gysberts
Ruck: Sandi, Hille
E: Warnock, Trengove
Fwds: Chappy, ROK, Gia, Brown, Hall, Riewoldt (N), Rockliff,
E: Betts, Heyne

My plan all along was to downgrade R3 or R4 to a nobody for $$ then upgrade Martin to Swan to cover my opponent having him. With Brown and Hodge out now, I still have a full team, but no emg in my backs or fwds.

Should I still get Swan and downgrade either Hodge/Brown to a R Shaw/Stokes OR should I trade hodge and brown for Broughton and Buddy/Harvey/Goodes which means I’m still playing Martin in the mids?

Nice to have you on board, Stocky – we’ve been waiting for you to post!

I like Rusty’s advice below. If not, I like this option: “trade hodge and brown for Broughton and Buddy/Harvey/Goodes”. Swan ain’t the be all, end all mate.

Maybe Hodge for broughton, will that give enough $ for swan still? Then leave Brown and use Betts for cover? That would mean no donuts and Swan in?

Stocky August 27, 2010 at 11:16 am

Nah, Martin + $$ left over from Hodge to broughton trade leaves me about $495000 to spend, so swan still out of my range. It does leave the door open for one of Mitchell, Gibbs, Boyd or Pav tho???

Happy to play Betts, just leaves me with no emergencies, which makes me neeeeeervous with chappys hamstrings…….

Of those 2 mids – I’d look at either Boyd or Mitchell.

Chappy’s hammies have been fine all year – you gotta risk it.
