While we’re waiting for the teams, what will make or break you?

  1. HS this morning said that Pav is in mothballs for the rest of the year. This caused me to let out an audible groan that prob wasn’t appreciated by my fellow cafe dwellers. 😉

  2. Some r23 outs – Djerrkura, Fraser, M Clark, Kerr, Ball, S Buckley, Bateman, Pavlich, McPhee, Mundy, Ballantyne, Grover.

  3. Great to see fitzpatrick get named on the bench. Absolute gun. He’s about 6’5 I think, very quick, great hands, great shot for goal.

Tommy Mac has been great the last few weeks, really deserves his shot at the seniors!

  4. Ok forward line dilemma – need to pick two of the following three:

    I Smith v WB
    Mzungu v Pies
    N Roo v NM

Gut feeling is Mzungu and N Roo – only reason for Mzungu over Smith is that Mzungu will likely take one of Pendles or Swan so should get into the play a bit more, whereas I feel Smith needs to kick goals to score well. N Roo has a reasonable record against the Kangas but the injury does concern me.

    Interested to hear your thoughts!

  5. Hey all, got a couple of questions.
First up, gotta get rid of Sylvia AND Pav using up my last 2 trades that I’d saved to ditch Gibbs and Judd this week.
Trades are INCREDIBLY VALUEABLE (taking notes for next year 😉 )
So, first of all, who would you pick?
    Fyfe, thumbs up.
    Rioli, thumbs down.
    Cheers.

  6. Second question, now with a limited budget, which of these Weagles would you take?
    LeCras, thumbs up.
    J Kennedy, thumbs down.

    Cheers guys 🙂

  9. Hi SC’ers

    Riddle me this 🙂

I have 2 trades left and $24,100 in the kitty.
With Judd (554K), Gibbs (501K) and Pavlich (421K) all potential trade bait I’m in a position to make a couple of modest upgrades. The problem is, I’m not sure I should use them this week.

We’ve both got; Goddard, Fisher, Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Boyd, Cox, Goodes, Franklin, Riewoldt N, Mzungu

He’s got Pavlich, Sylvia, Darling and Buckley all out this week and I’m pretty sure he’s run out of trades 😯

Considering the lines ups we have the following PODs:

    Him v Me

    Enright v Broughton
    Suckling v Birchall
    Adcock v Deledio
    Lower v Heppell
    McKernan v Murphy R

    Dal Santo v Priddis
    Kennedy (Syd)(MID) v Petrie (FWD)

    Lobbe v Hale

    Krakouer v O’Keefe
    Chapman v Johnson S
    Dahlhaus v Cloke

So, the question to you (SC guru) is, do you think I need to trade?

THUMBS UP – you’ll be fine, save the trades and keep Judd on ice for the Granny.

THUMBS DOWN – Go for broke and make the trades (Comments welcome)

  10. Fair call Cam I didn’t realize Pav dropped as much after last weeks score.
Hmmm can you go Heppell to Adcock or Suckling ????
Although you’re on top I think its risky keeping two trades IMO

  12. Hawks I/C: Liam Shiels, Shane Savage, Matt Suckling, Paul Puopolo
Anyone like to guess who’ll be the sub?
Thumbs up – It’ll be Puopolo (he’s named 4th and that spells doom)
Thumbs down – It’ll be Suckling (he needs a wake up call)

  13. Thinking about trading out Broughton. Who do you all reckon would be the best replacement, $400,000 or less? The rest of my back line is Goddard, Fisher, Heppell, Lower, Puopolo, subs Duigan, L Thompson, and K Hunt.

  14. Bare bones team for the The Phat Side this week. All positions filled, but no EMGs and no trades. Any late withdrawals (*gives greasy to Broughton*), and I’m cactus!

Although Don Cottagers in the LoEC is already one short in the backline, and also has Broughton. Just not sure if he has any trades.

  15. Ok here is my dilemma
I have one trade left and 8k.
    My backline look like this
Gibbs Deledio Bock Goddard Fisher Suckling Broughton (Puopolo,Talia Toy)

Thumbs up – Play Puopolo for Gibbs and keep Gibbs and trade for next week

Thumbs down – Trade Gibbs to Enright

  16. Feedback would be appreciated on possible trades (only $2.100 in bank): –
Thumbs UP – GAJ + Didak trade in for Pav & Sylvia
Thumbs DOWN – GAJ & Callinan trade in for Pav & Sylvia (means 140K towards final trade if make GF’s)

Any other suggestions appreciated. Current team of: –
Godd, Lids, Fish, Johncock, Murphy, +Cock, Hepp emerg of Broughton, Jacobs, Thomp,
Swan, Boyd, S.Thomp, Priddis, Mitchell, Mzunga, emerg- I.Smith, Pav, Gibbs
    Cox, Petrie – Z.Smith, Derickx
Stevie J, Goodes, ROK, Buddy, Rioli, N.Roo, Hale emer-Talia, Sylvia, Knights

  20. My team is stuffed. Even if I have 22 green lights (just). I think I will NEED to be pulling out all stops to make it to round twenty four. Opponents green lights are brighter than mine 😉

I have one emergency bench cover player. Two trades left. $6200 in the bank.

    Option one
    * Downgrade Judd to Hodge: last time they played against the Doggies, he scored 152. Next week they have the Gold Coast suns. Last time they played them he scored 113.
    * which enables Pav to Rioli. Just worried I’m leaving too much money in the kitty (51k)

    Option two
    * Downgrade Pav to either Josh Kennedy (WC) good run home just worried Bris will put up a fight. Or Heath Grundy from the Swans- DPP player who I could swap with Gilbert.
    * which enables Judd to NDS. Just ‘cos. Did score 139 last time we played Nth.

    Option three
    * wing it and not trade Judd. Don’t wanna.

    Denial, anyone?

  21. Hey Guys,

Just wondering if you guys have any advice on what to do with my current team? Cheers

MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Priddis, Montagna, I Smith

    RUCK: Cox, Sandilands
    (J. Tippett, Cordy)

  22. My team is;
B Goddard Gibbs Deledio Fisher Broughton Birchall Adcock (Bachelor LIsle Puopolo)
C Swan Pendles Ablett Boyd Moloney S Mitchell Bewick Mullet)
R Cox Mumford (Thompson J tippet)
F Buddy Rioli Goodes N roo Cloke Petrie Okeefe   (Mzungu Pav C Richo)

Opponents differences: R Murphy Heppel Otten (or Gibbs replacement) Hodge Montagna Fyfe J Roo Lecras
Against my birchall Adcock Puopolo Mitchell Moloney N Roo Cloke Petrie
Puopolo is the obvious weak back for me and do I keep Gibbs or do a Gibbs for Enright and pav for Fyfe?
Thumbs up pav for didak and bachelor for Enright. Thumbs down Broughton for Enright and pav for Harvey.

  23. Yep with that team as it is i think im ahead but if he trades gibbs or otten he can get an edge. I think hes almost out or out of trades. Just dont want petrie and n roo starting this week so i thought didak is a cheap option to outscore them (and maybe start mzungu too) the didak trade also allows me to trade bachelor instead of puopolo and keep him as a backup.

  24. Trading out Pav. Can pick up any mid I want. Current mids: Pendles, Swan, Ablett, Thompson, Watson, Pav, (Judd, Gibbs, I Smith)
(Note: Gibbs to go back to the def next week)
Who should I pick up? I have been looking at Dal Santo, Boyd, Mitchell, Priddis etc.. Can’t decide.
    Thanks

  25. I have a selection dilemma in regards to having too many forwards to select from. (who woulda thought)

I don’t know about the following for F5,F6 and F7.

NRoo, JRoo, Didak, Smith, Mzungu, Krak or Lobbe.

I could swap Lobbe and Petrie in ruck but I think that Dish will do better this week.

Please help me with all of your valued opinions and I will bend to the will of the masses of SCT professionals.

    Thanks in advance

  26. Seems as if it’s the old battle of capt
Swan versus capt ablett this round. If supercoach has tought me anything it’s that trades are gold, don’t trade till Friday as late as u can and don’t captain a Friday night player. On that note it’s Gaj for me over the tattooed man.

  27. I am concerned Broughton may play sore and churn out his third sub-70 score in a row.
With three trades left which strategy do you think I should employ:

THUMBS UP – Pav > Fyfe & Broughton > Bock & Mzungu off bench to replace Sylvia.

THUMBS DOWN – Pav > Fyfe & Sylvia > Rioli & risk playing Broughton

  32. 2 trades left and 120k, thinking pav to fyfe or chappy or even stevie j and save trade to use next week (if i win) for heppell. or use last trade on sylvia….

THUMBS UP- use 1 trade for pav > stevie j, save 1 for GF (heppell)

THUMBS DOWN- use both trades, pav > fyfe, sylvia > chappy

  33. Backed Franklin in 2 weeks ago with the captaincy and returned 162, albeit against Port. Not so confident this week.
The GAJ/Swan argument for captaincy is much of a muchness as far as I’m concerned, but for what it’s worth I’ll be opting for GAJ.

  37. A question for all of you,
I have Gibbs and Pav to trade out this week and i have $43,000 in the kitty.
I am thinking that the best trades are:
    Gibbs to Enright
Pav to Rioli or someone else
This could make or break my season as my main opponent has a similar team to me.
I would really apprieciate some help so what do you think???

  38. Thanks Catta for the stats. I going to lock buddy in as capt. Would of been nice to see a poll as reckon this week it’s gaj or tattooed man leading the charge. Friday night captains are a no no for me. I need a p.o.d capt and buddy for me
Is a gamble I hope pays off.

Two trades left, 98k in the bank.

    Should I:
Go for broke, and trade Sylvia for Harvey and Pavlich for Cloke/Fyfe (thumbs up)
Or just trade Pavlich for Cloke/Fyfe, leaving a trade in the bank for next week and back Mzungu or I Smith to score well. Leaves me with no mid cover, though (thumbs down)

  44. Im thinking of Pav/Bachelor out and Didak/Enright in or Pav/Gibbs out and Fyfe/Enright. Would leave me with Gibbs in trade 1 if I make it through this week. I only have 2 trades left and are going for it and have solid back ups at most positions-

  45. I might take a huge gamble as my opponent in my main league has the upper hand against me as I have more players out. The gamble is: making Buddy my captain. Could get 150 could get 80. Please SC Gods, Buddy to score 150!!!

  46. What are the chances of Swans players getting rested next week?

Cloke might be up for a rest seeing as dawes is back.

Might be better to get Neon in that case

    Yes or no?

  49. If u think your team better then play the same players as much u can. If u think u need to take a risk as other team has the edge then play pod’s.

  51. I currently have Heppell as D7 and Broughton as Emergency as a) Hepp been on better form, b) Hepp more likely to play in winning team (v Port rather than Pies) and c) Hepp not under injury concern.
    Thumbs UP – 100% agree
Thumbs DOWN – play broughton as he’s more of a prem & if he is late withdrawal you get Hepp anyway

    Cheers – Andy

  54. Nervous, anyone? 🙂

I wish you all the best of luck. I’m playing off in 3 leagues in which I’ve finished between 6-8. Go the underdog eh?!
