  6. Those selected teams are a bugger.
Irons dropped, SMac possibly the sub leaves me with Matera as seemingly the only choice. 🙁

  7. Bit the bullet this week

traded Atley out for Harris = better job security I reckon
tarded A Moran out for Z Smith= better cash cow

I have a pretty good cash bench so looking forward to bringing the premiums in later in the year

  8. Thanks kb, I got so involved in my SC wheelin’ & dealin’ last week I forgot who had the bye. Had to go to such an effort to find the answer, it made Burke & Wills look lazy in comparison 😉 My whole SC train of thought was derailed and I started thinking about how convenient it would’ve been if I could’ve just got that info from the weekly listed thread, so, last week I made the suggestion, and this week I re-suggested, lest it wasn’t noticed last week. I just figured that I wont be the only person this year who’ll be scratchin’ round close to lock out trying to figure out whose got the bye. 😀

  9. Oh hell no, what do I do with irons? Trade him to say curnow? Don’t wanna be losing valuable cash… Already have Harris and Swallow as well….

  10. Unless you have 90k spare, it’s two trades, so what is that trade? what do you gain and lose in that deal, and, how does it effect what you hope to gain going from Irons to Curnow, and, can you get that end goal by simply holding onto both your trades?
This is a question that I have been wrestling with this week as I have the same opportunity as you with only 14k left over.

  11. I know, shattered.
At least it’s a rest in the league games 😀
    But really, soreness after 3 rounds? What’s up with that . . . .

    0

  12. maybe, probably not, but maybe….depends on how many trades you have used, how badly you are, or may be, effected by this rounds byes, selections, etc.

  13. Yeah.
I won’t be copping a zero for it, but it’s just that all GC rooks go up in price this week. If he isn’t named again next week, and for many games after, the ship would’ve sailed on many rookies.

  14. Whats going on at Port Adelaid anyway?
It’s the derby, and they’ve dropped Cornes AND Pearce. Two of their only decent players.

  15. Touch decision HGL, what do you think of a straight swap – Dave Swallow for Curnow? Looks juicy on paper, but I gotta feeling Swallow is only a few weeks away from ripping it up.

  16. On the same boat crabstick :\
I’m just gonna leave him alone. Port will start stinkin’ it up and start blooding some rooks thus bringing back Irons.

  17. Help! I know what i want to do, but cant make supercoach do it!

I have Puopulo (DEF), and McKernan (FWD,DEF)

I want to move McKernan from FWD to DEF, and sell Puopulo. In his place i want to buy a new FWD.

It wont let me move McKernan to Puopolos spot (because Puop isnt a FWD to sub like that), and it wont let me trade Puopulo for a FWD (because Puop is a DEF)

    HOW DO I DO IT?!?

    0

  18. Yeh got 100k. Used one (Buckley->Libba. Made the wrong pick. Shouldve trusted my gut, not everyone elses.). And I will gain this: IF irons plays the week or two after he’ll only reach 200k. Therefore I have 300(200 + 100k) to up/downgrade. If I trade to curnow he will reach say at least 450. So the outcome will be ~150k. That’s if irons returns soon. If he say spends 4/5 weeks out, or gets ‘rested’ every few weeks, then I will just be watching the curnow boat sail away into the distance.

    0

    0
  19. You wont be able to, as Puo is listed as Def only you cant move him thus must trade him for another def or trade one of your other fwds for the fwd you want.

    0

  20. How about swapping Irons out for his teammate Jasper Pettard (is that the right name?)? Good job security and loves to kick long.

    0

  21. 17 or 18k difference so it is still 2 trades for me. I think that 2 trades into one player should be reserved for guns. And, even if Curnow churns out 100+ a week you still have to trade him for Carlton’s second bye therefore it is a three trade deal, possibly 4.
If you have Gibbs, Judd etc it is a problem that I would rather not have. Throw in injuries, suspensions and restings that may occur that week and it is all a recipe for disaster.
If you can make the direct swap then I’d still be wary essentially for the reason you say and because, I expect/hope Swallow to become Swanlow after Collingwood’s second bye, maybe in concert with Lil’ Libba.

    0

  22. you wont lose anything by waiting till next week, you will lose something if he turns out to be a flash in the pan and you shred a trade on him.

    0

    0
  23. I chose Libba last week instead instead of Curnow, but, 2x 100 + 1x 70 is a great return imo. If you can do it as 1 trade it is a lot more attractive, just remember that you’ll need to trade him again b4 Caaarlton’s second bye.

    0

  24. Probably not a good idea to trade in someone who might end up the sub I would’ve thought.

    0

    0
  25. Would it be a straight swap with 90k left in the bank?? If so I’m in the same boat, and I’d quote this from HGL but ceebs, just read above, but basically he said what is the desired outcome, is it worth a trade, can you achieve this without a trade. I pretty much summed it up(why it will achieve) above so it’s your opinion? Do you want to make 150k(250 of irons somehow doesn’t return anytime soon)? Your team, your decision, so that’s pretty much al the info I can give you. Personally I’ll probably make it myself, but you should also take into account ellards(and mmcleans?) vfl form. He’s killing it.

    0

    0
  26. Cornes was told pre season that he would only play if injuries occur, Primus was going to give the youngsters every chance and Pearce imo is a French Duke.

  28. Not too late for curnow at all. Last year I hesitated on J Pod as well as Rockliffe as everyone was saying their JS was not strong. I ended up getting JPod but not till he rose in price three times weeks i think. I missed the boat on rockliffe and was not happy bout it. If u think u can justify that trade, get curnow, he will be excellent value towards the end of the year.

  30. Hey Guys,
    First year back into Supercoach.
Not looking like finishing too high in the overall competition.
Any tips on how to go about using your trades to win your leagues?
    Cheers

  31. You can only swap like for like.

    i.e you can only swap a F/D – McKernan with a D/F
    Puopolo is a D/M

    0

    0
  32. I don’t think Otten will be the sub, most likely will be McKernel. Crows forward line didn’t function too well with both McKernel and Tipsy down there. I’m more concerned with Lower. He might even be the EMG.

    Thoughts on who to play:

Goldstein vs Freo – assuming 211 plays (thumbs up)
    or
    Z. Smith vs Melbourne (thumbs down)

I have the delicate Fraser as well, but won’t bother with him.

    Cheers

    I hate the sub.

  35. Yeh he’s definitely not a keeper so will be long gone by then… Mereley a cash cow… And your average cash cow downgrade is to make 150-200k, pobably same as what curnow will make over irons, but that’d only if irons gets back in the team…. Wasn’t too impressive though, I don’t think he’s physically ready and they will probably give him time in the sanfl(? Is that where port and crows chuck their players, yeh?)

  36. Need some help guys my backlines looking weak ATM. I’ve got Gibbs Grundy Taylor grimes lower heppal hurly and hibberd gutherie and duigan on the bench, thinking of either sitting back and waiting till rnd 6 and trading or swapin Grundy and Taylor for enright and Goddard this week as I got some cash in the bank. Will Goddard go down much more? Thumbs up wait thumbs down trade

  37. who shall i trade in for buckley? He’s not gonna play much by the looks of it and i need a decent rookie to help me out of a jam.

    0

    0
  38. You can manage this if you sell Poo for some better sh!t. Trade Puopulo out of your backline for another FWD/DEF DPP (e.g Lukas Markovic 140K; Jesse O’Brien 202K ). Then you’ll have two DPP FWD/DEF with McKernan in your forwardline. Then you can swap them around.

Remember (next year) if you’re planning to play the DPP game, you must have 2 to tango (as PA said) but importantly, you must have one in each position – or they’ll both be stuck in one position.

  40. Multi-Bye pressure anyone??
Luckily, I anticipated this in my original team selection (not having too many guns from any of the multi teams) so I only have God, Missy and Roo on the pine.

But, OMG I didn’t anticipate the Sub Crisis I’m faced with this week!!!

Lower, Curnow, Darling, McKernan, Otten all at risk being named at I/C 4 or worse I/C 5,6,7!!!

    Any advice on the following options?;
Currently on the bench = (Player)
    * Sub Risk

    (Curnow*), Harris or Swallow? M5 & M6

    (Darling*), (Matera), Richardson F7

    Otten*, (McKernan*), Lower*, (Stanley)? D6 & D7

  41. Keen to see how I go over these coming weeks with multiple byes, I set out at start to see how high overall I can get ( no illusions of actually winning the thing btw)

  42. On the sub rule… do you think next year SC should change the rules to allow some kind of substitute emergency? Like if you’re starting player is named as sub after the lockout, your emergency can count for them? I think it’s just too much of a lottery right now, you’re essentially guessing if players will be named as sub or not. Yes, you could argue that this helps people who study the game and therefore have more chance of knowing who the sub will be, but clearly it’s going some way to ruining this year’s SC. Thoughts?

  43. hope this doesnt sound like a dumb question,,,but cant decide over 2 positions,,,,

    A. Krakouer or D. Swallow or D. Harris

    Z. Smith or R Warnock

Krakouer hasnt had a huge one yet but is due

Warnock was quiet last week but first 2 games where huge

thoughts would certainly help as im only 100 points from overall leader and dont want to f$%k it up

    0

    0
  44. Z Smith for me
Krak will have a day out IF he is not the sub (big if, but you will at least know b4 lockout)

    0

    0
  45. Krakouer should load up against Richmond, you’d think Collingwood should win by 70 – 80 points maybe more. Ans Stick with Zac Smith, that kid is already a gun in the making. He’ll score against Melbourne.

    0

    0
  46. Tom Harley suggested that if you have a player in your team that is the starting sub, or is subbed off, then you also get the points of the player who your player was subbed for. I think it’s a great idea. At least then you get points for a full game, instead of just potentially a quarter’s worth of points.

  47. thanks for feedback lads,,,i agree,,smith is a gun, but im a blues man and was finding hard to leave out warnock,,,I’ll stick with Smith,,,My Midfield is

    Swann,,Pendlebury,,Judd,,Jobe Watson,,,Ed Curnow,,

with Kraks / Harris / D Swallow available,,I’ll wait till just b4 lockout but am leaning towards giving Krak another go,,

once again,,thanks for feedback,,,2nd year at SC,,,F#$ckin addicted,,,

  48. Quick poll guys.
Ive got irons on my bench and hes been dropped.
Ive got 2 suns in my midfield.
Ive got no money but all my trades.

“Thumbs Up” to keep irons, hoping he gets recalled.
“Thumbs Down” Trade Irons for Trent Mackenzie from GC ( The only player I can afford who will go up in price straight away )

    Cheers

  49. I reckon they’re going to have to do something to sort it out. This is my second year and I’m far from an expert (with my teams sitting around 10-12%), but I’m losing it with multiple byes and subs and the lockout. It’s all well and good to say you know before the Friday game about the sub, but as I was walking up the path to the G last Friday night that’s all I heard people talking about: ‘Who are the subs?’. And this was at 7pm. Nothing on the Carlton twitter, nothing on the various web sites. And even if there was, what opportunity to change anything? And that doesn’t take into account the remaining games. The risk is the average punter is just going to say, ‘Too hard, no reward’…

  50. In a pickle here

Will cop a donut in my midfield this round and was pondering if I should do either of these trades, not to keen to trade, but Savage looks to jump in price much faster than bewick, and Montagna seems to have lost some form

    Bewick –> Savage (Thumbs up)
    Montagna –> Pendlebury (Thumbs down)

  51. I guess ill join the mini polls, seems to be the thing to do, so:
    Irons->Curnow(Straight swap, have 100k) UP
    Keep irons DOWN.

    Thumb away!

  53. I have a big trade dilemma: Curnow. His got a BE of -66, which means he’ll still sky rocket in price if he scores low. Is it worth bringing him in? What do you think of this:
Straight swap: Curnow in for Dave Swallow?
I’m not sold on this trade, but I really want to bring Curnow in.

    0

    0
  54. I reakon Andy Collins is the sub for the Blues tonight. So Curnow should play. I’m definately worried about Lower, Otten and Darling though.

  56. Anyone think 3 suns in the midfield is to much?
They have the bye in rnd 9???
Although, even if I couldnt cover all 3 in rnd 9 my team is doing well enough that I could probably cop the donut or 2 for the sake of making some dosh.

  57. hey guys i have the irons dilemma as well
I’ve used two trades already but have 150k in the bank
    Trade him: Thumbs Up
    Keep him: Thumbs Down
Looking at either Libba or Curnow for him if I do

    0

    0
  58. Yup, in fact can afford anyone right now as I have 350k+ in the kitty.

Just a matter of who to trade in. Bewick I think should have good job security, and is Hodge over his achilles injury? Don’t want it to bite me back in the ass if he re-injures or gets rested for it.

I really thought Montagna would bust out some huge scores for me but it seems like the Saints have lost motivation.

Arghhh so many things to consider!

    0

  59. I’m thinking you stick with Warnock in the ruck this week. He’ll be up against Bellchambers, so possibly a field day for him, where as Smith will be up against Jamar..

    0

    0
  60. Curnow could be this season’s Barlow, 92 against Collingwood is nothing to sneeze at especially when he was competing for points with so many quality midfielders. Far more upside in Curnow for mine. Better risk/reward proposition

    0

    0
  61. Depends if you need the DPP or not….I’ve had Savage from the get go and I’m rapped with him so I would say him. If you need the DPP then Prestia though

    0

    0
  62. Now finally I have Savage, Curnow, Swallow and Harris to choose from to start on ground this week….one has to be my emergency.
Who should miss out do you think?

    0

    0
  63. I think Curnow has been named on the bench every round so far and played, so I expect that trend to continue. Ratten praised him the other day on SEN, and he is obviously scoring well. If I had him, I’d be riding that horse, and I may grab him today, depending on negotiations and if he passes the medical.
Not happy with the efforts of the Freo selectors regarding the selection of Lower on an extended bench. Scored 80 last week so you would think that would be enough to keep his spot.
I have Gwilt/Goddard/Libba/Missy & Roo down with the bye. I am ok fo D & F subs, but, have no M bench coverage @ all unless Irons is a late selection.
I’m playing Cam Richardson, have Matera on my bench-who may still replace SMAC, or not- and don’t have Darling. I think that the roos will be pretty fired up this week. West Coast have been using Gaff as the sub, so if they wanna rotate their rookie sub, Darling is a possibility.
You D/L could go seriously pear, play Stanley? 60 is better than a donut. I have Lower on-field with Ottens or Toy as my Emg options so I feel your pain on this one.

    0

    0
  64. I know he’s got the bye this week but you could trade Puopolo for Bob Murphy. He’s been flying so far. You are getting a donut with Poo anyway and if have cover on your forward bench then this otion could be worthy.
