The VC Query

Written by Motts on June 18 2010

The split round opens up the possibility of taking full advantage of the rules by giving the vice captaincy to someone this week and then, if you’re happy with that individual’s score, captaining up a non-playing player next week so your VC gets the double score. Do you intend on cashing in on this flexibility? If so, who will get your VC vote this week?

Who is VC / C for the TEAM in Rd8? (three choices)

    1. I agree. People just clutching at straws because they dont have the son of GOD!! I will be having JESUS ‘C’ every week barring injury.

  1. Just make sure if you do it, that your non playing reserve’s team is playing NEXT week or he will be locked in as captain this week and you wont have the option of changing the captaincy back to GAJ etc.

    1. You can select say Hodge for VC this week and put on an reserve that will not play say in the midfield and mark him as captain whilst having say GAJ on the bench as an emergency.

      # If Hodge does well you leave it as is and GAJ’s points will come in for the reserve that is on the field.

      # If Hodge doesn’t go that well you substitute GAJ for the reserve who is marked Captain, this will then make GAJ the effective captain.

**Note that the VC has to be playing this week and that the C and the reserve’s teams must be playing next week.

  2. I’ll be picking Buddy Franklin – you should add him to the list! Barry Hall could also be a good sneaky choice!

  3. Alo ladies n gents. I want to share a little story.

About 6weeks ago my brother who has nfi about Supercoach strolls in and tells me about this wonderful trade he’s done. “I picked up two Freo players, a forward and a ruckman”. I reply “Nice man so Fyfe and Sandi, done well bro”, to which he says “Well yea i got fyfe but a different ruckman… Kepler Bradley”.

I spend the next few minutes containing my laughter and coming to the terms with how stupid my brother is (trading in the big mule who was still INJURED at the time).

Neways, cutting to the chase, i took over his team and just did a straight sideways swap Bradley for Sandi, costing about 70k, and upgraded Boyd with the rest of the cash he made. Once again stupidity gets rewarded. Lord have mercy.

    Cheers.

  6. Marc Murphy as VC this week for me, you don’t have anything to lose imo, you could say your having a each way bet.

          1. I’m strugglin’ with Juddy as Skipper – when are the Blues gunna show some intestinal fortitude and heart by protecting their best player/Captain. Can you imagine the Geelong boys letting McPhee get away with that crap on GAJ? Too many front runners quite happy to line up for the handball receive and not prepared to get their hands dirty.
I thought that’s why they traded for McLean and have been playing Robinson.

Motts – Ratts is a Dud!

  7. Will go Sandilands VC this week. He is capable of getting 150. But my only problem is I have two bench players next week; Davis and Armstrong, both are likely to play. So I’ll have Sandilands as VC this week and will wait to see if Davis and Armstrong are playing, if they are will go Chapman/Goddard/GAJ as captain.

        1. You won’t be able to use one of these as your foil for GAJ if Buddy goes large as both teams play in the first week. Still have GAJ as skipper this week (as you have to have someone)however if Buddy kills it you will need to look at another line to bring in a non-player from a 2nd week club as your Captain.

    1. After spending countless hours on honing the strategy, I go to put it into practice and find all of my non players are from clubs playing this week.

Juddy has the big C for me.

          1. Probably gunna save heaps of coaches that went with him as VC due to the split round when they would normally have made him Skip.

  8. Will this work ?
Select, say, Bryce Gibbs as VC, with a GCS player as Captain. As the GCS player will not play this week, the designated emergency will “take his place”. That Emergency might be Pavlich, for example; as a result, you won’t “lose” the points that Pavlich, in this case, scores because his score will count (having come in as the emergency for the captain)
If Gibbs doesn’t make a high score, then before Friday’s lockout, reinstate Pavlich on the ground (subbing off the GCS player) and nominate your captain as you would normally.
