  1. stole this from schq (posted in the saints rundown as well before i seen this) hope it helps 🙂

NAB Cup week 3 gives us a better indication of which players to grab and which to avoid.
SuperCoach veterans Dean Cox and Simon Black highlighted that they should be forgotten, with both posting scores over 150 points.

Most scores are expected – but there were some surprises: Chad Cornes again anyone?

    Lenny Hayes: 76
    Dean Cox: 151
    Chris Masten: 118
    Beau Waters: 106

    Jared Brennan: 121
    Anthony Miles: 117
    Callan Ward: 105
    Chad Cornes: 130
    Nathan Bock: 99

    David Hale: 132
    Lance Franklin: 126
    Luke Hodge: 108
    Brad Sewell: 105

    Simon Black: 156
    Jed Adcock: 123
    Jack Redden: 122
    Tom Rockliff: 117
    David Ellard: 92

    Matthew Pavlich: 130
    Jarrad Redden: 117
    Nathan Fyfe: 107
    Greg Broughton: 85

    Jobe Watson: 131
    Patrick Ryder: 109
    Sam Reid: 108
    Nick Malceski: 101

    Patrick Dangerfield: 111
    Brent Reilly: 105
    Steele Sidebottom: 104
    Jason Porplyzia: 100

  2. Confirmed: Jobe, Cox, Fyfe, Pav, Martin (obviously), Buddy (obviously), Ellis, Redden of the Port variety, but the Brisbane version looks awesome too, a few GWS boys (Miles, Clifton), Adcock.

Giving me a headache: Longer vs Giles, Ryder, Howard, Deleidio (only due to his hammy, otherwise he’d be almost first picked) vs Newman, Danger, Porps.

Discarded: Orren, Magner and Neale (for now), Smedts.

Also, it seems the HS paywall has gone up. So my readership of that particular website also goes into the discarded section.

  3. I haven’t discarded Magnet @ this stage, Lids is supposed to be playing this w/e. Neale can be grabbed later on–hopefully. Giles is as much a worry to me as the Big O. I might need to bring in the Big Krueze, or bite the bullet, get rid of Beamsy & go massive. I’ve been too hard on him. I am looking @ bringing in the Porpoise as well.

  4. You can get round the HS pay wall by googling the title of the story you want to read. So easy. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

  5. Here is a poll that could be Interesting.

  6. In the turnstyle that is The Phat Side at the moment, I’m currently on the Three Rookie Ruck (TRR) strategy. Not a fan of it initially, but injuries to, and crapness of, some rookies, team balance, and the arrival of Redden (Port variery) has begun to turn me. With Lobby still recovering, and Renault (Renouf: he’s about as reliable as one!) just awful, Redden must be number 1 ruck at Port at the moment, at least for the first half a dozen rounds.

Current Rucks are Lolburger, Redden, O, and Giles. More thinking to do…

  7. It’s only now that I’m considering abondoning the good old G’n’R with the likes of MacIntosh and Dangerfield up and about. I don’t think a single rookie has survived in my team since the first draft, too (maybe Giles). Now I’m also starting to debate some of my premium choices. This one has me stumped. Help me out here:

    Thumbs up: Luke Hodge
    Thumbs down: Jobe Watson

  8. Heyy guys im really concerned about the form of broughton for my D4,, whats everyones thoughts ive already got goddard, deledio and shaw.. considering adcock and birchall

  9. Is it worth having a premium ruck and then Ivan Maric with Giles and Redden on bench, or should I just have a premium ruck and Giles with Redden and big O on the bench? I’m just not sure if Giles will be consistent for the whole season. Also who is a good premium ruck choice, as I had Leuenberger but he hasn’t really shown enough in NAB cup……maybe Jacobs as unique pick?

  10. The 2012 Season is nearly upon us, more so the Lockout.
Rookies/Cheapies (Below 200k) seem to be fairly unanimous, but keeping in mind that bloody green vest, who are your Locks?
    For Me –
    DEF: Bugg, Ellis, Darley
MID: Coniglio, Wingard, Greene, Clifton, McDonald, Neale, Miles, Magner
    RUCK: Giles, Redden, Stephenson
FOR: Tomlinson, D.Smith, Pfeiffer, Smedts, Hampton

Reckon these blokes are the only ones that could avoid the vest. And I could probably still mark a line through 2-3 of them.

  11. Anyone else spot the profile pic for “cjpelican” on the twitter feed?

Photoshopped Tom Scully’s head onto the baby chasing the dollar on a hook from Nirvana’s Nevermind cover. Love it!

  12. Gday Fellas,
Whats everyones thoughts on just having Big Cox as #1 Ruck and having Giles/Redden as 2nd Ruck.
Using the money to upgrade to a premium forward or defender?
If Giles/Redden continue good form and get game time they will climb fairly quick in price, to then make an upgrade to McEvoy/Leunberger/Mummy etc….

  13. Hey guys,
Can someone tell me about these rookies. These ones are the ones that could be a risk with the vests and/or I don’t know much about but could get game time.

Def – Docherty, Spurr, Morris, Sierakowski, Smedts, Winmar, Blee, Brown (Luke), Wilkes, Yagmoor, Baguley

Mid – Stevens, Pfeiffer, Ledger, Reid (Sam), Shiel, Kavanagh, Mcdonald (James). Mitchell (Tom), Ross, Gibson, Lee

Ruck – Giles, Derickx, Spencer, Rowe, Stephenson

Fwd – Tomlinson, Cooyou, Saad, Lamb, Skinner, Walsh, Weedon, Kerridge, Markworth, Sexton, Dell’olio, McIntyre

Any info on those players and there likelihood to play would be great. Cheers

  14. @Roo Bloke et al
What happened to Gibson yesterday. Came on in Q2 for 7 or 8 mins and that was it. Injury???

    @PA
I watched the game and Smith seemed to be everywhere but then I read the stats and he had 9 clangers. What do you think of his JS? With the big hair twins in front of him I think he’s a strong candidate for the vest.
Dickson seemed to work into the game very well and has raced up my Watchlist. Is there a small FWD possie for him?

    @Mottsy
Did one side of the scoreboard break down at half time at Maroochydore?
Is the bird going to play Rd 1 do you think?

  15. Is Kerridge or McIntyre more likely to play and if they both do which one is more likely to get the vest?

  16. How’s young A.Hall going for GC?
Has Zorko done anything for lions?
    What’s about Saad?

Am a bit concerned about these guys as they’re in my fwd line.

  17. Random things in my mind stemming from this weekend of footy:

    1. “age shall not weary them nor the years condemn” … used in reference to fallen soldiers but equally accurate in terms of the AFL’s older blokes. No signs of slowing down for Boomer, Goodesy and Super Pav. Currently hav Super Pav in my provisional team, have my eyes on Goodesy as an upgrade target and think Boomer could be a useful POD as many will have incorrectly jumped off him this year IMO.

    2. Log on to your SC account. Check if B Lake is listed in your defence. If not, trade out bloody Marty Clarke or some other potential space filler and get on the Lake train. While i doubt he’ll be AA this year best case scenario is he could score well and possibly save you a trade, likely worst case scenario is he’ll score moderately, earn you some cash and then you can trade him up to a gun.

    3. The ruck strategy is doing my head in. The risk of the 1 and 3 (with therefore more cash to spend elsewhere) or the tried and true of 2 and 2. Maric’s mullet keeps floating through my mind’s eye as a good R2. Hmmmmmm….

    4. Highlight of my NAB cup trip to Nth Ballarat was standing on the outer wing with a can in hand. Couldn’t see a working scoreboard all day nor really hear the siren but in the NAB cup that’s something i can live with.

    5. If you had any doubt as to whether the Herald Sun was a money grabbing heartless corporation, the defence rests.

  18. Tried to log on to get 2 months free digital pass…..and got met with ‘Bad Gateway’ and couldn’t sign up to log on to get my two free months anyway. Not only are the HS money hungry fat cats but they are digitally useless as well.

  19. Can someone go through the new trading rule relating to DPP players?? I’ve read it a few times and still am struggling to ‘get’ how it will work.

We all know DPP players are gold but just want some further clarification on this one. I know it involves trading out, swapping players around, then trading in. Something like that yeah??

  25. Hey motts i was thinking that it would be a good idea to have a post where it is just for thumbs up and thumbs down and that way it is all in one area and i think that more people would give thier opinions beacuse it is easy just to click the thumbs up or down button where all the info is on the same page

Just an opinion i thought i would share 🙂

  27. What’s the structure of everyone’s teams? Guns, mid pricers, rookies?
    – I’ve currently got a 13-2-15 set up. Had 15 prem’s at one point but wasn’t happy with the rucks, nor the rookies I could get with the spare change.

Furthermore, what do we reckon about money to have on hand in the salary cap? I’ve only $4100 (which I’m ok with).

  28. I have a 13-3-14 setup atm and should be sticking with this squad from here on in. I have $5,600 left to play with which is enough atm.

  29. I am still tempted to completely re-shuffle my team to premium def, rucks and forwards and go with a prodimanantly rookie midfield. maybe 1 premium midfielder..

  30. 11-4-15. Mid range are Lake, Dempsey, Porplyzia and Adams. Still playing around with $90,000. Have a stacked midfield (5 of the best) and rucks (2 of the best.) Going to start with 7-8 GWS rookies with three in the guts – Coniglio as my 6th midfielder.

  31. There are 4 players I’m trying to justify including: Dangerfield, Adcock, Hargrave and Lake. All have had the injury cloud hovering over them, but recent form has been promising.

13 -2 -15 set up at the moment

    Thoughts/comments??

  32. Roughy named in this weeks squad.
Cant wait to see if he gets to run around.
Will be great to see him in the brown and gold again 🙂
Could also make a great upgrade target to.

  33. 13-3-14 here also. Danger lake and porpoise for the mids. May have to cut one to make Adcock into lids/scotland. I’m feeling quite good about the team at the moment, just a little worried about having next to no cash in the piggy bank.

  36. Bananas also are starchy and can help to make you feel full resulting in less foods eaten.
There are many diet plans that are available
for you to try but make sure you have success with them.
As mentioned, it is not as complicated as the other programs.

  37. Unfortunately, while turmeric is a super safe herb, taking too much everyday does
have adverse effects. The countries that have the lowest rates of pancreatic cancer,
however, are the countries in Asia where people consume not just turmeric but
also soy. dark-colored stools, presence of blood in the stool, vomiting of blood – these suggest internal bleeding.

  39. This is because the skin of the face has been stretched downward onto the
neck and left there. Through chemical analysis, crude oil is first generated from the kerogen and heated to a particular temperature to get a distilled shale oil
product which is similar to conventional petroleum oil but not exactly so when
compared at the molecular level. Here are some more practical uses for this miracle oil:.

  40. A non-nano based sun block which uses zinc oxide or
titanium dioxide is a good choice. There is no better
way of making this happen than doing it naturally. You will see harmful ingredients like Alcohol, Fragrances, Dioxanes etc.

  41. If you buy a bottle as is, be sure to choose Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Consumers and experts have worked to find a solution for
years, but it wasn’t until recently that they found the right combination of ingredients to do so. It’s fair to say that with rosehip oil,
you only need a small amount to make a big difference, when applying your oil, all you need is a couple of small drops.
