To Gablett or not to Gablett

by Grimmo on May 6, 2009

The big question on everyone’s lips is whether to trade out Ablett Junior. The little master has been given a 2-3 week rest due to an aductor strain and for those with slim pickings on their midfield bench it poses a potentiall season defining decision.

I am fortunate to have depth in the midfield but could not help but look at the possibilities that a trade for the great man would bring. You can have your pick of any player in the competition and still have plenty of change in the bank. Job done. It could however provide you with a good opportunity to trade up on a  player like Dangerfield from the Crows.

At the moment he is doing OK and looks likely to get plenty of more game time BUT… Ablett for a Lockyer, Bartel, Swan etc and then trading a player like a dangerfield into an 80 avg player may be too good to resist.

Alternatively…like me I will be sitting him pretty on the bench, let the little bugger heal and bring him back bigger and better than before. Dont forget you are not likely to have a more consistent captain all season. That could be priceless. Thoughts?

Well it was only 2 weeks ago that i confirmed in our comp there were 3 of us that didn’t have him …. me being one of them. Maybe my injury woes are looking a bit better now, Cooney back and a few others not far away and G.Ablett out for lots of other people.

I don’t know why we’re in ’09, RB. Presumably someone had some time to kill so went through our back catalogue.

Grimmo is a buddy of ours who helped out in the early days with posts.
