To GAJ or not to GAJ?

Written by Big Sexy on February 16 2011

Ok folks, for my first post of the 2011 season, I’m going with the one question that has haunted me since GAJ to the cash and headed for the sand and sun.  I know it has already been discussed a lot all ready…. but now we approach crunch time.  GAJ has always been my first picked knowing he was my Auto Captain.  Now I think about factors like how is some 18 year old high draft pick going protect him from the snipers the way Selwood, Bartel, Corey and Ling did, and the fact he will be wearing a relentless rotating tag every week.  Also, the fact he is Captain…. will that help or hinder.  Also, now Swan has caught up at SC level at least, should I go with what you know and save the cash.

Should Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (ESS) be traded out of the TEAM this week?

  1. I’ll be leaving him out… I fear his scores maybe impacted by the fact he’ll be playing in losing side most weeks which I think will lower his scores as most players in losing sides don’t seem to score as well (especially ones that get touched up)
I like where you are coming from PA, 10 rounds will tell us plenty about how his scoring is going.

  2. Hey Motts (or anyone for that matter), would you be able to create a poll for me? I was wondering what people are aiming for, either league or overall. I think you might have done one previously, but I think now that teams are being created people might have changed strategies.

Obviously it will be hard to go for both, with byes etc., but was wondering what the strategies are.

    Cheers

  3. well i’m putting him in. I think the fact that he’s captain will help as he plays his best footy when the pressure is on him, and as with last years finals he seems to play better when his team mates play worse. This year he’ll be in the midfield the whole year (he had an average of 130 last year from playing in the forward line) and doing all the in and under stuff that made him score so well in previous years. The way i see it this could be the cheapest he’ll be all year, he is the little meastro after all!

  4. It had been my intention to see how he went before potentially bringing him in Round 10 – that intention hasn’t changed, but my conviction that he will be the best pick for the money come Round 10 probably has …
