To Ruck or not to Ruck…..

by Big Sexy on May 21, 2010

Ok, so I know I’m typically not a huge wrap for the Rucks and don’t put a lot of faith in them when it comes to SC given they are typically inconsistent and most injury prone curtosy of the huge bodies, extra weight and hence stress on the body….. That said I noticed my two rucks Hille and Kreuzer scored quite well last week securing me wins in all three of leagues with 111 and 140 respectively.  I also noticed my oppent had big Sandilands scored 150.  Upon further inspection I see Ryder racked up 120, Big Cox scored 119 , Goldstein got 107 and Gardiner 102.

Anyway, other than Sandilands and traditionally Cox….. have I been a little harsh on the rucks?  Or did they just have a good week?  I’m still thinking they are a little over-rated and would rather invest in my other lines….. all that said, I admit Sandy hasn’t put a foot wrong.

i hear you big sexy. this year i decided my supercoach team was a premium ruckman free zone and i’ve paid the price. tippett and naitanui. nic nat has been serviceable, tippett awful. both inconsistent.

making the trade to big sandi this week. his expensive but with a break even in the 80′s i think he’s still a decent buy to guarantee a 110+ every week.

I have also decided to ditch high priced ruckmen find them to be a bit inconsistant, feel that the money saved can be better spent on the premium mids & backs. My round average is 2210 so this method has some merit.Rucks are Teflon hille & Nic nat.

I think Sandilands is a must have as Cox has been but apart from those two i think save some money in the ruck area and put it in the midfield where the big points are.

Guys looking for some advice or opinions…

My Ruck is currently Kruzer and Nic Nat with Warnock and Grimley warming the bench. Have been thinking about upgrading Nic Nat to either Sandi or Cox by downgrading Warnock to say Skipper.

Firstly I am not sure weather to make the trade or stick with what i have (14 trades left). And if i do trade, should i spend the extra and go for Sandi over Cox for another 120k?

Any advice welcomed. Most teams in my league have Sandi…

It’s an interesting one the rucks… I have Sandi and Nic Nat and could not be happier, Sandi is going great and shows his ability to score big points has been crucial to my success so far and Nic Nat is a good foil he was cheap enough and has the abilty to go crazy and produce big.
Personally think they are slightly over rated and don’t deserve there own division. They should make them part of the midfield and you have 8 players in your starting 22 in this area… but then again that mightn’t work as no one would pick a ruckmen and no team in real life footy can play without a ruckmen…
