Trade Or Hold – Nat Fyfe

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 19 2019

He’s never played more than 19 games in a season and now his troublesome elbow has flared up.  Apparently Fyfe had surgery after last weekends loss to Hawthorn.  So is that the season for Fyfe?  Will he be ‘managed’ till the end of the season?  Or will he be back next week?  What to do with Fyfey?

What to do with Nat Fyfe (FRE)?

  1. Should be back next week, everyone relax.

Plus, with Cogs and Kelly already out (and likely Bont) who really has the trades to be off-loading Fyfe for a 1 week injury?

      1. Depends. Dr Google reckons a simple fluid drain will take around two weeks. He had the same surgery in February and played a few weeks later in JLT 2. If it’s more sinister than that though could be longer.

FWIW, I’m holding for now. However if Clarke spuds it up, I may be tempted to sideways to bloody Dunkley.

    1. Do you think Bont will be out GD? I have Cogs and Fyfe could do without Bont being out as well.

      1. I think so, Bruce. Same deal with Gawn two weeks ago. They’ve named him to give him the chance to play, but it’s unlikey he gets up.

For your sake, I hope he does but have an E ready…

        1. Thanks GD , pays to be prepared , trading Cogs for sure and was using D.Clarke to cover Fyfe if he scored ok and also have Bewley on mid bench , however he plays well before Bont is due. Will work something out!

  2. I guess no one really knows how long Fyfe is gone .. could be a 1 weeker but I wouldn’t be surprised if they rush him back and he gets rested early through SC finals once there mathematically out of finals. I’m holding but I don’t blame those who do trade if you don’t have a macrae Neale or Cripps already

  3. Based on absolutely bugger all – my tip is he’s back for next week and the subsequent few rounds, then pulled a week or two before the end of the home and away once Freo’s season is properly done.
If I had the extra trade I’d move him on, but I don’t so I’ll hold and hope my feelings are wrong.
