Trade Or Hold Rd9 – PART ONE

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 13 2019

Dons asked the question in Polling Station and we’re only happy to help out……..What should we do with Isaac Heeney & Angus Brayshaw?

Apart from back-to-back 130s, Isaac Heeney has failed to meet expectations in 2019.  Reports have circulated that he’s struggling to train during the week thanks to a niggling ankle injury.  What would you advise his Coaches to do?

Angus Brayshaw finished 3rd in the Brownlow count off a limited preparation in 2018.  With a value starting price of $525k, many Coaches jumped onboard expecting more natural improvement.  Doesn’t seem to be as tidy with disposal as last year and is struggling to hit a century.  What would you advise his Coaches to do?

  1. I think Heeney must have a niggling injury, so must be traded. if he ends up having a week or two prior to the bye to help get over it, hes a trade anyway.

    1. heeney is an opportunist not a central play maker , needs more talent around him to take the pressure off , even when he’s @ 100% fit

  2. I plan on making some BIG moves this week: IN come J. Kelly and Boak (most likely). So is it okay to deal with Heeney later?

Provided we concur that he needs to go, I’d likely replace him with Kelly or Dunkley, who I know are set to go up in price- meaning I’ve missed getting them at possibly their cheapest.

Still think J. Kelly and Boak are the priority right now, hopefully Franklin comes back in and Heeney can get some cheap ball sitting more in the middle; statistically plays better with him in the side and they play North this week.

    Sound good?

    1. GD if you don’t have Oliver like me who would u prioritise bringing in this week J. Jelly or Oliver. Am about 20 grand short of bringing both in if I trade out two of libba B.Crouch and Walsh unless I put Rocky in the mix which pains me. So I’m thinking Walsh this week to either J.Kelly or Oliver and one downgrade maybe Clark but most likely Parker. Next week trade out maybe B.Crouch but most likely Libba for remainder of J.Kelly and Oliver. If Blueballs or Troo Roo read this your thoughts would be appreciated too. Cheers.

    1. I actually feel like we have a plethora of options in the fwd line.. Danger, Boak, Kelly, Daniel, Dunkley, Mundy, Cameron, Heeney, Menegola, Dev Smith, + lesser lights like Robinson, Walters, Hawkins

      1. Smith has had one score over 78 this season, id need to see a big uptick in scoring personally before i took that risk

  4. Brayshaw is being moved on to TKelly (BE35) this week in my midfield.
Eventually i’ll swing TKelly fwd when moores time is up and i hope to grab neale in the guts at a lower price than 640k.

  5. Have a policy of not trading anyone I planned on being a keeper. However may possibly trade Heeney to Macrae and then look at picking him up again post bye if his fitness/form improves. The way he is going I don’t see his price being much different to what it is now.

  6. Heeney averages over 100 when Buddy plays. As an owner, let’s hope he’s back and durable soon.

Brayshaw is a different proposition. MEL have gone from clear #1 for centre clearances in 2018, to almost last this year. They seem to have struggled more than any other side to adapt to the 6-6-6 rule. Add Viney to the situation and measure Brayshaw’s CB attendances yr-on-yr and things just don’t look good. Certainly not in the immediate future. Every week I expect to see MEL crack the code as it were, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. Unless they change their set-up and Brayshaw’s role reverts to what it was the majority of the BH last year, it’s hard to see where meaningful improvement will come from. Sorry owners, but he and Devon Smith are a no from me for 2019, unless there are fundamental changes at either club, eg LTIs or specific roles changes for the positive.

    1. Sucks koz I have both 🙁

I’m thinking hold Smith as his tackling is still not bad and that’s what made him a top fwd last year, plus he’s had some injury to overcome so a wait and see however Brayshaw I am strongly considering to either one up to dunkly or 1 down 1 up to Mcrae
