Trade Or Hold Rd9 – PART TWO

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 17 2019

Dom Sheed started the season strongly and was one of the best MidPricers over the first few Rounds.  Since Andrew Gaff came back from suspension,  Sheed’s scores have taken a dip and he now seems a stepping stone option at best.  Would you persevere with Sheed?  Or cut your losses?

What to do with Dom Sheed (WCE)?

Another fast starter to the 2019 season, Stephen Coniglio has been hampered in recent weeks after injuring his hand in the Sydney Derby.  With his price about to plummet under $500k, is it worth persisting with Cogs?  Or time to say goodbye?

What to do with Stephen Coniglio (GWS)?

  1. Anyone know how long Cogs is out for?

No information about but unconfirmed reports are saying 10 weeks??

If that’s the case, strong consideration must be taken to bringing in Hately. Should have JS for at least 6-8 weeks. Could generate more than enough coin in a 5-6 game period.

    TU- Trade Cogs to Hately
    TD- HOLD on Cogs

    Cheers!

      1. I haven’t heard anything, but that sounds more like a scaphoid than a finger if it’s true.

        1. As a vet I can tell you that it will take between 6 to 12 weeks for it to heal. 6 for a finger and 12 for a scaphoid. This should vary if he was already carrying it for few weeks or if it is a genuine fracture or not. Could just be a strain or a sprain. GWS are the most secretive team in the AFL so we will never know what is the truth. I am a vet not a surgeon 🙂

      2. Whispers if broken finger needs surgery, will be at least 8.

Hoping allsaints is right on the money but the fact that its gone all quiet has me nervous.

Cogs scoring has been terrible from the Sydney derby on wards (when he apparently got injured). Could be a silver lining to bring in cash chow Hately.

    1. would think 2 weeks & back with a brace , means he misses blues & D’s ,
although with the suns , nth & the R14 bye over the next 4 weeks after that ,
fair chance he might not be back until R15 v essendon
with the focus on getting him cherry ripe for the finals
they obviously don’t want to just wrap it up , or he would be playing this week

  2. What about Matt Crouch? Small tear in hip so out for 1-2 weeks, maybe more maybe less than 2.

    T/U Hold

T/D Trade as it will be more than 1 week

    1. hips are the worst , with all the running & turning that AFL players do , they tend to re occur

  3. It’s round 9. Cogs and Crouch with injuries, Whitfield might be back. Traded Newman out due to injury. This is fast turning into a nightmare!!

        1. 10k short… Can move Coniglio instead, with him most likely being out for more than 5 weeks.

  6. In the 1%, I have M.Crouch with 21 trades left and 7 upgrades left to make. Should I trade him to JPK so that I don’t miss out on 50-60 points or hold and keep the trade.

TU – Yes trade and get more points
TD – Hold and take the points hit

    1. Depends of if you are going for overall ranking or trying to take out your league.
If you are trying to win your league I would hold.
If going for highest possible overall ranking then it is a more difficult decision.

  7. Who to trade out for macrae

    TU Walsh
    TD brayshaw

I know we shouldn’t trade our premiums but I just don’t know if/when gus will get back to Last year’s output. Plus keeping Walsh means one less round 13 bye player. Other part of me thinks to keep him in the hope he comes good.

Any help would be great please lads!

    1. Paddy, both will not make top 10 and have to go. You should back your premos but Brayshaw is not a premo anymore. I’ll keep Walsh until the byes. His bye is not until R14 which will give you the time to upgrade nicely. Also If you have Gawn/Grundy, Brayshaw has the same bye as them.
Do you have enough premiums to play R13?
At this point, it matters and I will check Allsaints Bye Strategy and Macca’s bye planner. That may help you make up your mind.

    2. Did you see FT’s post. With Melksham OUT, this may just be Brayshaw’s window for more midfield minutes. I’d hold for a week at least. If he’s back in the guts will likely score well.

      1. was amazed so many started with him
        never averaged 100
        starting price of 526k
starting price every year before that was 350k
had a good last 9 games last year
high expectations for an injury prone player

  8. Hey guys currently sitting just inside the top 2k and stuck with cogs. I’m getting in J.Kelly either way, was going to be with walsh but now seriously considering cogs with the injury and isn’t looking like a top 8 from here.

    TU:Walsh
    TD:Cogs.

  9. My take on Sheed is trade but not now, wait till his R13 bye, that’s going to be the toughest bye to get through & there’s so many good mids coming off the R12 bye, he’s scoring ok for now, his role the last 2 weeks has been fine just simply not enough ball to go around with Gaff back, he’ll hold his price.
