Trade or Hold – Round 8

Written by Hot Sauce on May 10 2019

Rookies:

  1. Sam Collins – Def – $300,500 – BE: 63

If for some reason you still have this man, jut trade him. He is done.

Verdict: Trade

  1. Jack Scrimshaw – Def – $314,500 – BE: 59

If you didn’t trade him last week (as you shouldn’t) then you have to hold him with him selected in Hawks line-up this week.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Jordan Clark – Def – $239,500 – BE: 55

Definitely tradeable but would depend on your other players and positional needs. If you have Collins, I’d trade him first, other than that I’d be letting him go if you wanted to bring in a defender.

Verdict: Trade

  1. Charlie Constable – Mid – $303,000 – BE: 39

As per Jack Scrimshaw. You should have held him last week and should do so again.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Tom Atkins – Mid – $259,800 – BE: 18

I certainly got this wrong last week suggesting he should be traded. He now should make you a decent amount more cash for at least a few more weeks.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Michael Gibbons – Mid – $266,200 – BE: 50

Just like Jordan Clark, he hasn’t got much growth left in him and should be traded.

Verdict: Trade

  1. Willem Drew – Fwd/Mid – $322,400 – BE: 58

Drew’s prospects received a boost with the injury to Ollie Wines making room for more midfield time. Has the potential to be a keeper until the bye rounds.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Matthew Parker – Fwd – $249,000 – BE: 12

The 71 last week has thrown Parker a SC lifeline and has him making owners a little more cash over the next few weeks.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Gryan Miers – Fwd – $337,500 – BE: 16

Yet another 90 and just like last week he will continue to make you good cash for a few more weeks.

Verdict: Hold

Mid-Pricers:

  1. Tom Liberatore – Mid – $461,700 – BE: 142

Should have been traded last week, upgrade him now if you still have him. Some great value to be found.

Verdict: Trade

  1. Brad Crouch – Mid – $462,200 – BE: 107

Will hover around this price point for a few weeks. Trade if no other pressing issues, otherwise hold.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Dom Sheed – Mid – $415.500 – BE: 74

Much like Brad Crouch, if you still have him you may as well hold for a few weeks until a fallen premo catches your eye.

Verdict: Hold

  1. Jade Gresham – Fwd – $404.300 – BE: 122

Expected to drop a further $30k or so over the next few weeks so best thing to do would be to upgrade.

Verdict: Trade

  1. Ryan Burton – Def – $404.000 – BE: 76

A solid game saw him drop only $800 in price and is now set to make a little more cash over the coming weeks.

Verdict: Hold

Premiums

  1. Ollie Wines – Mid – $498,400 – BE: 130

Owners would be unable to hold him throughout his 4 to 6 week absence due to injury. He must be traded.

Verdict: Trade

Good luck coaches!

  1. Cos of a shocking start I had to use too many trades so will now punt on holding Libber. Could be an interesting M8 in the end!

    1. HAHAHAHAHA. Good one.

Wait.. a minute… are you just rage trading him because you had him as captain…
That was you telling us all to go him as captain wasn’t it?

      1. yeh
last week unfortunately , he was my capt
now he’s just an average fwd with a bum knee & ankle
FYI , i never told anyone else to make him capt
blew me out from 3k to 12k in the ranks
will never own him again , unless he’s fit enough to play midfield

  3. I’d also be interested in coaches thoughts on Danger. If he plays, I can see it being in the goal square, and score could be low. If he’s out, how many weeks could he miss? Knees are problematic, and I can’t see them rushing him back in. I’m very tempted to trade him out, bring in a premium, and look at trading him back after his price bottoms out, as a “fallen premium”, maybe after the dreaded R13 bye. I’ve only used 3 trades to date, and will be doing one with Butters to Corbett via DPP.

TU : With only 3 trades used, trade out Danger for a Premium replacement (if he’s a late out as expected)
TD : Hold Danger, park him on the bench and trade him back in after R13 bye for a cheaper price.

    1. Hey Azza,
I think you have mixed up your options. If he’s on the bench he doesn’t need to be traded back in 🙂

      1. Oops – sorry about that. Obviously I meant –

TD : Hold Danger, park him on the bench and try to smile through the pain of playing a rookie in his place

    2. Azza, I was one of those who had him as captain last week. It sucks. But I am not mad at him bcoz he was injured. I will never trade him out bcoz he is going to be top 3 forward comes the end.
He hurts you now but trading him out will hurt you even more.

      1. @ a starting price of 660k , you would expect him to be a top 3 fwd ,
lets see what ppl think when he’s 470 k

  4. Hi Hot Sauce,

So traded atkins and kept constable so in hindsight a horrendous decision and now I go again with clark and constable. What’s in my head is “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me”. Doesn’t look like constable’s in scott’s plans. He named clark in the guts!! If constable can’t get straight in after 25 touches and 12 tackles in the vfl what makes you say hold?

    1. Constable will get a few more games at some stage and still has plenty of cash to make. Think that’s why HS is advising to hold.

      1. Yeah fair enough, I personally think constable is the pick of the cats rookies this year but chris scott is killing me!

        1. Hi GG, was under the impression that he was to be included this week. If you have more pressing issues hold him. If you need the little bit extra cash to get a premo you’re after trade him. Personally, I do think he’ll return & I’ll hold.

  5. What’s the feel on Danger? Is he injured or just playing out of position and will he play this round?

    t/u hold
    t/d trade for fallen premium

  6. Thing is, Sam Collins is a great intercept mark. That’s where his points come from.
He was recently up against WCE, who have the most surgical kicking style of any team – naturally, he tanked.
This week he’s against Melbourne, who I love dearly, but my god they can butcher an Inside 50 delivery. I’m holding him – hoping for a great score.
