17 trades left …I think I might bring in lynch and take tappy out, and the second trade take out
either mckernan/ luke thompson (adelaide) out for jacobs (port adelaide).

Lester (never got rid of him ’cause i had more pressing needs elsewhere) >> Jacobs

Will save Tapscott trade for one more week and probably nab Tendai.

Would like Ablett at his current ‘low’ cost if he keeps up the current 122 average. Very confident he can maintain his current form and if healthy comes up against the Lions, Crows, Demons and Hawks in the finals.

A no brainer if looking for an upgrade for Higgins.

However if both I Smith and T Lynch are selected for this weekend’s matches I’m not missing that boat. Tapscott and Higgins will both make way.

Definitely. Unlikely to drop much below this price. Their draw next 4 weeks is horrible. However, the Saints will improve though. Their draw in the second half of the season (after their second bye) is a little easier. 6 of the last 10 at Etihad, 8 of 10 in Melbourne, plus the Beach Boys at Metricon. Not enough to get them into finals though by my reckoning.

Lower and Doi-gan survive yet again!!

D.Stanley will therefore make way for Jacobs, and the gut sickening Ward to become S.Thompson. Very juicy at $471k.

Bad call Shane. Surely you got bigger holes in your team than Burgoyne averaging 83?? Use the Tappy >> Mzungu trade to upgrade a fat rookie. Burgoyne should score you 80-90 a week with odd big one in between. Worry about him closer to finals when the rest of your team is set.

Okay so Higgins out seems like the option to go for now who to trade in?
S. Thompson (BE 68)
Ablett (BE 83)
Franklin (BE 91)
Boyd (BE 131

Keeping in mind I am looking at getting all of them eventually it seems like Thompson is the best choice to start with the lowest BE this week and others the following weeks.
Advice?

If I choose Franklin simply swap Higgins and Krak.
Mids probably need the upgrades more and I would jump on Ablett over Thompson usually but money is tight so I want to take advantage of low BEs while they last.

Sudan will come good. He did have an op on his pectoral muscle in the pre-season so naturally was always going to start slow. The pies have said they’re aiming to start peaking at about R15, for the second half of the season. Didak won’t get back to his best, but surely he will improve on what he’s pumping out currently. Oh and you wouldn’t think he’ll be used as a sub again.

Tapscott to Pav would’nt be a bad start. I.Smith into mids this week if named & Mzunga into mids next week to then have two MID / FOR DPP’s in each area. Reeden, Swallow & then Harris would be possible mids to go.
However if Rd 12 is your concern you could be without Sandi so check to see if he has him & is likely to hold him & you both play Smith.
I have a feeling that Pederson (on the bubble) will get a game this week due to his goal feast last weekend in 2′s whilst Higgins could be dropped this week which would mean you could hold off trading for another week.

Just wondering what everyone’s take on Scotland is. I know every team and his dogs team has Gibbs and Scotland is significantly more, but hes been scoring better and been more consistent. Do people think this will continue?

Its looking more and more like Broughton won’t be worth starting on the field when team is finalised, so now seems like a good time to swap him for someone. I don’t care about overall anymore. Backs will be:

Adcock, Fisher, Deledio, Shaw, Scotland/Gibbs, Goddard (soon), +1 more.

yay, poll time:
T-Up: Scotland
T-Dwn: Gibbs

Cheers.

Refer to Motts Movers R9 – The Backs for a little write up on Scotland. Beware Gibbs & Scotland’s round 23 bye if your going for your league. That’s the SC preliminary final if you make it that far. Personally I’m hanging on to Broughton in the hope he can avg bout 100 come finals time. But if u really wanna get rid of him then consider Chris Newman, tho still has two byes to come, nick lower who’s still great value and plays in the guts, or Matt Suckling who’s emerged as one of hawthon’s key play maker down back with his precise kicking skills.

But if it had to one of Gibbs Or Scotland, then prob scotland as Gibbs is still mainly being used to negate his opponents (when will you just free him up in the middle, ratts?)

F- Franklin, Harvey, J.Riewoldt, Yarran, Krakouer, Rioli, Matera
(Tapscott, C.Richardson, J.Tippett)

I have $312,200 in the bank.
Thoughts/suggestions? I was thinking about upgrading Tapscott to a premium and either downgrading L.Thompson to Jacobs or to another decent premium.

Great team, my suggested improvements would be as follows: –
Rd 10 – L.Thompson trade out for Jacobs
Rd 10 – Tapscott trade out for Goodes or Pav
Rd 11 – D.Swallow (or Harris if injured) trade out to Mzunga
Rd 11 – Richardson trade out for Goodes or Pav
Rd 12 – Harris / D.Swallow to Lids (after his Rd11 bye).
My theory is that the 5 trades would give you 3 premiums in Goodes, Pav & Lids (Delidio) who a) don’t have league byes & b) are all DPP’s which along with new rookie / cash cow DPP’s Jacobs & Mzunga adds to your future flexibility

Firstly swap Heppell and Thompson.
‘d trade Tapscott/Richardson for Pavlich/Lynch. Pav is in top nick, whilst Lynch looks to be a nice earner. You might then trade Yarran/Matera or AKrak for another gun such as NRoo/Fyfe/Goodes and Mzungu.
In 2 weeks your F/L becomes: Buddy/Pav/Roo/Harvey/Jack/Delicious/AKrak with Matera/Lynch/JT on your bench.
You need 1 more defender. Trade 2 of Tape/Thompson or Otten into someone like Newman after 1st tiger bye.
Look finally to u/g mids into guns just before finals when rookies max out in value.
Your team is shaping up nicely.

Don’t think ablett is that much of a bargain. If he maintains a 120 average, his price will stablise at around 540k.
His price will peak for the next 3 weeks or so because of the 196, but long term his price won’t be that high.

Need to fix up my ruck dept now that I’ve lost Jamar and Sandi. Have Petri and Smith as cover, but would prefer Cox since the Pies don’t have a half decent ruck. But having said that, I thought Mumford would’ve slaughtered the hawks no-designated-ruck team last week, and he didn’t.

Also have to get rid of Tapscott. Lynch seems to get the nod from most people so could be a goer.

Patience angus. Not everybody on here wants to be giving advice to others 100% of the time.

How many trades left? You really want to get rid of at least one of Curnow, Higgins and Tapscott. They all have huge break evens for the round games, so they’re all going to drop significantly in value. Doesn’t matter if u consider them a keeper, just as long as they’re scoring well come the business end of the season. Tapscott definitely not a keeper, curnow maybe as m7 and I thought higgens could be, but boy was I wrong. So realistly none of those three are genuine keepers, so no better time to offload them than now.

I’m sure you are aware of it already, but you have 8 DEF/MIDS DPP’s in defence but 0 DPP’s in MIDS to change with + 5 FOR / MID DDP’s in forwards but O in MIDS. I. Smith, Mzuna, Scotland & Boomer into MIDS appear logical ideas in the future, however you have most other DPP’s of interest already. With these 4 DPP’s prior to the finals & you’ll be laughing like a dingo with a baby come finals time when people have used their trades & are struggling to put a full team out.

Angry man, you have a shat load of trades so start converting those fat midfield rookies into keeper premiums. This week tho I would go Higgins >> Petrie and Tappy >> N Riewoldt. Roo has just about bottomed out and Droopy will provide cover for Bailey if he’s not named. Copped a knock to the head. Next week get Mzungu in you Mids to create a DPP link, and maybe also Chappy who’s cheap as stale chips right now.

I have a huge dillema this week. i have no def/mid DPP in my mids, and I would love to bring in jacobs to offer more flexibilaty as well as some good coin for an upgrade. my midfield bench currently consists of ills, bewick and harris, but i can really only trade outt harris to make some coin. I also have libba as an option. another option is that i scrap the idea of DPP and trade jacobs in for mckernan. id apreciate come thoughts, thanks lots!

Trade Jacobs into your mids unless you’re very thin on your def emergencies. The flexibilty of DPP is very useful this year more so than previously because of these damn byes. It will save you trades later on if you plan it right. Other question is if you have plenty of trades i would strongly recommend not trading out Harris. He is a great M6/7 and will go up further in cash so your net benifit coin wise will be better off.

Hmm, I’ve got 14 trades left for the season (which IMO isn’t heaps), and I agree that Harris is a great M6/7 plus he has no more byes for the rest of the season. what do you think of Libba>Jacobs?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

Maverick May 24, 2011 at 6:19 pm

Libba is definetly the right option. But should you trade? How often does Libba contribute to your on field scores? If the answer is not at all then it’s a done deal, but if you’re regularly using Libba for cover then you might have to sit tight. In saying that Ben Jacobs will be your last shot at cheap as chips DEF/MID other than possible X.Clarke and X is not someone you want to depend on that’s for sure.

Nice team mate, I think you should upgrade your mids first because that position will be the bulk of your scoring and you will fall behind if you don’t because everyone else is upgrading their mids first.

I think your trades should be:

Tompson- Jacobs (IMO better downgrade that Lynch and it will save you more money)

and

Atley or Speight- Ablett

next week you can do Tapscott to Mzungu,

hope that helps

5 trades left and full premium team.

Delidio, Goddard, Shaw, Gibbs, Broughton,Enright,Heppel,
(Jacobs, Puopollo, Duigan)

Swan. Pendlebury, Selwood,Priddis, Boyd, S.Tompson
(Hibberd, Iles, Wallis)

Cox and Mumford
(Smith, random)

Franklin, Pavlich, O’keefe, Goodes, Reiwoldt, Rioli,Sylvia
(Darling, Mzungu, Richardson)

got some good bench cover and will be using the remainder 5 trades on injurys and if i have some left for sideways trades.

Will this be too little trades by round 15?
or is it a good plan?

Proposed R10 Trades:
D. Stanley > B. Jacobs
A. Krakouer > P. Chapman/M. Pavlich/L. Hodge

Loving that Chappy has the Suns this week and will go absolutely bananas up in Queensland, however with Selwood occupying the mids and S. Johnson in the forwards my cat quota seems full, especially considering the finals bye. Pavlich is the alternative who looks safer as I have no dockers in the forwards/mids, but have Sandi, Duffield & Lower and is $44.2K more. My goal is to get a high overall rank, going for top 500.

Since writing this up, I’ve discovered Hodge’s outstanding record against the Dogs, averaging 139.6 since 2005! But seems to be struggling to put tons on the board. Is this the game where he hits back!?

Cannot afford Ablett.

Opinions on those 3 guys? (Chapman, Pavlich, Hodge)

I wold go Hodge because you can get the other guys in the Forward and you should waist a midfield sport with someone you can have elsewhere. I expect Hodgy to have a great second half of season and is a good unique.

I’d go Pav MJ. Has been reliable all year and I think the Heave Hoes will get better as the year goes on and that get back to full strength.

As far as the multi-bye goes having four Dockers shouldn’t hurt you too much as long as you dont have too many Dees or Crows and can cover. A lot of the top teams will have at least some of 211, Fyfe, Pav and Mundy.

Just be wary when picking up any Docker center because Sandi won’t be there shoving the ball down their throat, for the next month or so  .

Will be interesting to see how Pav, Fyfe and Mundy travel without the service.

They do have STK, HAW, ESS and MEL for the next four though so Essendon is probably the only big ruck threat there and that’s at Patersons (unless Big Max can dominate from the get-go :) ). BRS and GCS after that too so if you have to have 211 out for 4 then they’ve actually done ok.

How strong is the rest of your midfield?

Burger had a big second half of 2010. From this point last year averaged about 106 with six tons including a 171. Not massive but pretty solid.

If you have rookies on the field in the mids why not upgrade there and hold off on Burger for now. Could come good and would be a waste of a trade.

Disagree. Next week I’ll trade Libba out who will hopefully be about 335k up to Boyd.

Then my midfield will be Selwood, Priddis, Swan, Ablett, Boyd, Boak.

I’ll cop that.

Thinking of a couple of possible trades.

Thumbs up.
Tapscott to Lynch
Batchelor to jacobs

Double trade down for big trades in the coming weeks, ie. get ablett Fyfe and Lids after bye,

Or
Thumbs Down
Tapscott to Lynch
C.Ward to Ablett/Fyfe

Do you have Mzungu already. Because I’d be pencilling him in for next week’s trade so you might want to re-think doing a double downgrade. If you don’t have Mzungu I’d go for option 2.

Nah dont have Mzungu yet, was thinking of getting him in next week and do an option 2 there and then do double trade after that…But i have C.Ward which i think has hit his mark for this year…

Inspired by Scatts questionable DJ efforts this week I thought I’d throw this one up for anyone considering trading in GAJ against the Cats this week:

GAJ playing the Cats. The Pink Pig coming back in (maybe) to do a massive old school stylee shut-down on him. PINK PIG. DANGER DANGER. Get it…………??

Comedy GOLD FIsh. Well played sir

Surely you have bigger holes in your team than a bloke averaging 81?

Got 144K in the bank, 17 trades left, tough game Rd14 (saints bye) & cover in most areas. Votes & comments appreciated:-
Thumbs UP for trading Toy or L.Thompson & Tapscott for Jacobs & Lynch
Thumbs DOWN for trading Toy or L.Thomp & Tapscott for Jacobs & N.Roo
(by Toy / L.Thompson i mean whoever not listed this week)

Assuming my 2 bottom end defenders Toy & Luke Thompson are either both named or neither named this week, which one to trade to Jacobs?
Thumbs UP – Toy out
Thumbs DOWN – L.Thompson out

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 6

I’m in the same boat. I figure Thompson won’t go up much more, and crossing my fingers that Toy will string a couple more 60-70 point games together to add another $50K or so. Thompson’s been given very defensive roles across HB, hence his low output recently.

My thoughts exactly. When he’s played a full game Toy has looked good however GC don’t lack decent defenders. A change of role or another situation where injuries & suspensions work in his favour appear to be the best option for him getting say 2 to 3 price rises out of the next 5 games.

If Swan is going to continue to play with both thigh and shoulder injuries, for who knows how long, would it be totally crazy to trade him out? For an Ablett/Pendlebury perhaps? Don’t think I’d do it myself as I never trade premiums unless they have an LTI, just putting it out there for some discussion, as it will hurt if he continues to scrape out 80-100 scores for the next month.

Still unsure about who to bring in, Jacobs from Port or Lynch from the Suns. Both show promise but I don’t really want to get both so what do people think. Jacobs has still got two byes whilst Lynch doesn’t but he is might not have as strong JS, I’m not sure.

This would be an interesting topic to vote over. Lynch, Jacobs or both. hmmm

Depends on the reason you are recruiting them.

At this point i’m looking for someone who is going to play out the season as an emergency on my pine. In that situation Jacobs gets my vote.

If you are selecting for some quick cash in a month or so time but their long term JS isn’t as big a factor then maybe Lynch is the better option.

Hi guys,
I can’t decide who would be the best midfielder to target.
I have Swan, Judd, Bartel, O’Keefe, Swallow and Harris. Looking to upgrade Swallow and can afford anyone except Boyd.
Have been trying to decide between Ablett and Mundy (or should I save some cash and get Hodge?)
Would love some help,
Thumbs up Ablett, Thumbs down Mundy.

Beware that mundy and the freo mids (fyfe pav etc.) dont have 211 tapping it down to ‘em for a few weeks.

Trade higgins instead of Heppell. Get Ablett or Pendles. Ablett will freak it, so will Pendles, but Pendles has one more bye for the year.
