Trade Talk R16

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 2 2017

I have a feeling that Witherden kid will feature a bit this week. Who comes out for him? Have you got enough $$ for Gawn?

    1. just curious, how does this actually work? Would love to do the same myself but obviously Parson isn’t DPP

      1. I have Greenwood in my MIDS. When I trade him out and it takes me to the trades page, you press the ‘s’ on Greenwood to move him. Can only do Parsons -> Witherden if you have someone who had FWD status and they are on the DEF/MID line.

        1. Thanks for the explanation, still can’t seem to figure it out, I have greenwod in my MID like you said. When I go to trade him, there is no available ‘S’ on him, he is no longer their. I assume what that means is you press the ‘S’ on the FWD/MID in the FWD eg. Bolton. This then leads to me also trading Parsons but then Witherdan is unable to be traded in. Maybe you can see what I am doing wrong in this setup? Cheers for the help

          1. I do my trades on my phone.

Now start by pressing trade button on Parson’s then a spot will open in your Fwd line. So press the S button on Greenwood which will move him to the Fwd line.

With Greenwood now in your Fwd line you have a spot avaiiable in your Mids so go to Trade ins and just trade in Witherden.

          2. Can you name each of your bench players line by line benty?
that will help others to help work out whether/who you’ll be able to trade out parsons for witherden.

  1. Parsons to Witherden, Sandi to Gawn.

Can’t believe I held Sandi for 5 weeks, only for him to come back and do a hammy for 12 points…

  2. With Viney looking like he’ll be out for a while, Jones out for another 4 and Tyson apparently injured, do you think Gawn will still be able to “palm it down their throats” ?

I have Sandilands who needs to go so should I

    TU: Still Buy Gawn
TD: Buy Martin/Move Nank to Ruck and bring in a premo forward

    26

    14
  3. Stewart – Witherden
    Sandi – Gawn

    T/U Yes
T/D Don’t get Gawn, go for a premium forward (or other ruck) and put nanks in the ruck

Comment any suggestions if Gawn isnt the man

  4. On the last question the injured Tyson, Viney and Jones are all in Melbourne’s top 5 for average clearances and average contested possessions. They obviously still have Petracca, Oliver and Lewis. Do you think:

TD: Gawn will have more or less the same impact as last year given that they have the 2017 version of Oliver and Lewis in their team?
TU:He will he be significantly impacted by the absences of these fellas, especially Viney and Jones who he delivered the 1st and 2nd b&f awards to?

By the way Tyson’s injury might not be that long term but the other two seem to be for over a month.

  5. With Nankervis scoring 100+ it has ruined my chances of trading J Parsons and S Bolton for loophole rookie and Nankervis as I am 3,000 short. Should I hold trades (5 left) or look to downgrade one or both of Scharenberg/Bolton to allow Parsons to be traded to E Yeo/I Heeney in RD17.

    Current forward line: L Dahlhaus, J Macrae, L Franklin, T Lynch, J Steele, H Greenwood, J Parsons, S Bolton.

TU: Hold trades and bring in Nankervis next week thus providing fwd/ruck cover and looping Nankervis and Greenwood for the remainder of the season.

TD: Downgrade to allow Parsons to be upgraded to E Yeo/I Heeney in RD17 providing fwd/mid cover and looping 2 of Greenwood, Steele, Lynch for the remainder of the season.

    1. Wait a week, unless Gawn starts going 120+ each week it isnt even close to worth it.

Could just been 2nd week back blues or maybe he will only go 100 avg from here out. More information = better decisions 🙂

    2. Yeh, I cannot justify this trade either. Not this week anyway with Witts having a 15 point head start in Breakevens.

See how Gawn goes against Krezuer with a depleted Demons midfield then I may consider.

  6. Honestly I’m not sure anymore. Was gonna go Nank to Gawn in the ruck (Nank already R2) but that doesn’t seem a clear win now. With Lynch putting up something decent and Greenwood already at F7 thinking I should sit on that too.

Maybe it’s time to move on Fyfe?

    8 trades, $120k

    TU: Move Fyfe on
    TD: Get Gawn now

    19

    9
  7. Scooter-Witherden
    Hannan-Gawn

Leaves me with 5 trades but have Newman at D7, Steele at M9, Greenwood at F7 and Nank in the forwards to use as ruck cover.

  8. I had Gawn as a lock prior to this week but after looking over it I am no longer sure.
Tyson, Viney and Jones are all out.
For the rest of the season Gawn is going up against Kreuzer, Jacobs, Ryder, Goldy, Mummy, Martin and Grundy with the game against St Kilda as his only easy game. Mummy’s run home is much easier in terms of ruck and he is 22k cheaper.

TU: This makes sense maybe Mummy is a better shout.
TD: You are overthinking this Gawn was the plan and will go huge against anyone.

    1. Your concerns regarding Gawn may well have some merit, but I would question whether Mumford is really the answer. Apart from being both injury AND suspension-prone, his scoring is not what it once was.

      8

      2
  9. Def, Rucks and Fwds are all solid, but I have Rockliff and Fyfe stinking it up in the MIDs.
    8 trades left.

TU: They’ll come good. Save your trades for injuries and finals carnage.
TD: Trade for Martin, Zerrett, T.Mitch, etc.

    1. I’ve got the same problem.

Traded in Rocky for Parker 3 weeks ago – decided to get rid of Parker instead of Fyfe at the time. Prob cost me over 500 points in total.

I’ll be looking to upgrade Scooter soon so I can loophole Fyfe and Rocky….can’t believe I just said that…

  10. Sandi Dilemma this week (again..or is that still)

TU – Fisher > Hibberd (NM) and Sandi > Gawn (Already have Witherden)
TD – Sandi > Darcy and SPP > Dusty (bank 110k and wait for Darcy to rise before selecting the final R2).
9 trades left after this with one premo to fill (either ruck or mid depending on which way i go)
    Thanks

  11. Well, one trade is reserved for Witherden.

The other; I’m weighing up Darcy and Gawn. If I get Darcy this week, then I’ll trade Witts to Gawn next week, effectively trading Witts to Darcy but getting an extra week of Witts’ scoring, unless I decide to have Darcy R3, but close off my DPP link.

  12. Pretty happy with my team but I have Tuohy and Priddis in my best 18. Banked a lot of money on 2 downgrades last week. Was looking to go Tuohy to Docherty and Priddis to Dusty. Would have $120k and 5 trades left after that.

    T/u do it
    T/d. 5 trades not enough after R16

    1. Depends on what your team looks like. If you have a full 22 premiums with some decent bench cover you could get away with it.

      1. I have Nankervis, Newman and Greenwood in my 22. The rest would be classed as premium. Happy to run with these 3.
My subs are Ryan, Hibberd, Witherden, Cousins, Bolton, Strnadica, Parsons and Brown so not a lot of strength there but hopefully enough. I think I’ll do the trades.

  13. Going berry to witherden to free up some cash for rest of the year this leaves me with 5 trades and 231k in bank.

Really tempted to offload shaw to hibberd or fyfe to rocky but I will probably hold for now and let ryan, parsons, greenwood, withereden to rise in price.

  14. I’m one of the fools that held onto Sandi for five weeks before banking his 12 pts yesterday………….what’s worse is I was hoping for a 90-100 pts so I could directly upgrade to Gawn with one trade next week………bugger……….Looks like I’ll have to use two now……..

  15. Higgins is just not consistent the past few weeks and I’m on the cusp of trading him out – I have 5 trades left.

    T/U : Higgins to a Ryder/Macrae/Kennedy
T/D: Don’t worry, he will come good.

    Cheers lads,

  16. I have 5 trades left and i still have beams in my team and i need to trade him out but i only have 27k itb. So i am unsure whether i downgrade parsons to a basement rookie for an extra 150k, so i can upgrade Beams to a better premium and have more money for available for when i need to trade out LTI players.

    So do i go with
TU Beams to someone like oliver/whitfield and 4 trades left
TD Beams to Merrett/Zorko and Parson to basement rookie and 3 trades left

    1. I’d be looking at Parker around that price range. Especially with so few trades with still 8 weeks in the season. Look in ripper form after the bye and seems to be over what was hampering early on.

  17. Thinking Barrett to witherden and parsons to Gawn nank going to forward 6/7 feel a lot of people will do this but leaves 8 trades a touch over 100k with 1 forward and 2 defender upgrades required….

  18. Lloyd (GWS) to Darcy

Gives me ruck cover for Nank and Martin.
If Darcy scores 90+ weekly, I can swing Nank forward and bench someone.
    Thoughts?

  19. I wish there was a once/year turbo button where you could make 3-4 trades…it would be this week for me. Would be a fun addition to league games

  20. so whats everyone doing with h.greenwood from the crows? worth holding for another week to see how gawn performs before doing a trade (via nank)? or do the trade this week hoping for extra points on field? greenwood projected to rise significantly in price this week.

  21. Hey gang, could really do with some advice on my team
11 trades, 325k in the bank
My question is, what do I do with under performing premiums, currently have Shaw, Tuohy, Fyfe, Hannerbery, Beams, N Riewoldt and Roughy, All of whom are below par at the moment.. obviously beams will go, if not this week then next. Currently have Newman D6 and greenwood M8 with beams basically M7 but Lloyd playing there ATM. But do I wait on these guys or what? Because I’ve always been a strong believer of never trade your premo’s unless they’re missing extended periods of time, but this has put me behind the 8 ball this year. Also would it be worth swapping a roughy/riewoldt out for Gawn and swinging nank fwd? Any insight would be appreciated, cheers fellas!

    1. Scotty412.

Beams and Roughie should go first.

Beams LTI and Roughie not scoring close to premo this year.

Roughie for Gawn and Beams for a value Mid. Bont, Sloane, Parker.

You still have enough trades for another Downgrade or two so I would be getting Witherden this week if you don’t own him.

      Best of luck.

  22. I am at full premo and I mean full premo, no Newman, Greenwood etc in starting lineup. How many trades should I have left for injuries?

    T/U 4 is enough
    T/D not enough

    12

    7
  23. I’ve got Grundy and Mumford filling my ruc spots, Should I save the trade or which one should I swap Gawn for?

    2

    5
  24. I need to replace Sandilands. Sadly, I can only afford somebody up to the value of $494,200. This means I can’t afford the obvious replacements, such as Gawn, Goldstein, Grundy, Martin, Ryder, etc. I could afford Sam Jacobs, but I’m not massively keen. I could also move Nankervis to the ruck, but this would leave me with no ruck cover, and to be honest there isn’t a forward I can afford that I actually want (I already have Yeo, Heeney, Dahlhaus, Buddy, Steele, and Nankervis. And no, I can’t afford Macrae.)

    TU: Sam Jacobs
    TD: Sean Darcy

Comment: Move Nankervis to the ruck (keeping in mind what I’ve already said on the matter)
    Comment: Other

P.S. My trade situation is such that I would rather not burn a trade downgrading a rookie to get extra cash.

    3

    10
  25. TU: Shaw to Witherden moving Lloyd into the backline opening up a swing set.

TD: SPP to Witherden holding Shaw as a future D7.

    3

    4
  26. Nank in the RUC with Strnadica EM
Looking at Parsons to Darcy via Strnadica which would allow Steele/Greenwood & Nank/FWD DPP loophole options. Will then have $551K to move Scooter to any MID.

    Best MID under $551K?
    Sloane + $46,600
    Hanners + $48,200
    Rocky + $64,500
    Parker + $40,800
    Oliver + $17,200
    Other?

    Cheers

  27. Time to bring in Alex.
I remember myself talking him up in the pre season that he was a must have and if it weren’t for early season injuries he would have debuted a lot earlier. Haven’t met anyone else in my life that has the same drive and commitment towards being the best. Lock him in for consistent 70+ scores.

    3

    1
  28. With regret moving on SPP , I can dpp and get Maxy in ruck or Heeney fwd,
Maxy means Ryder goes fwd then I have Ryder,Nank , Buddy and T.Lynch plus Dahl with Greenwood and Hardwick looping. Heeney means Ryder stays in ruck with Goldy and I have an extra small forward.

    T/U Gawn

    T/D Heeeney

    4

    7
  29. Witherden for sure. Darcy should be R3 for anyone without the Nank/Strnadica combo now Sandi is gone for the season.

  30. Who to trade out first? Both currently occupying bench spots

    T/U – SPP (BE 65)
    T/D – Parsons (BE 23)

Other will most likely be moved on next week.
    Thanks

  31. I am full premo, but going Parsons to Darcy. Means I have witts/nank as the rucks.

Then thinking of going fyfe to dusty, I have the exact money I need for him with zero to spare. Is that a sign or what?

Otherwise could get the bont and bank 99k

I will have 6 trades left
