  1. Maybe no trades this week for me. Had always planned going Goodes to Shaw but with their respective BE’s I’ll wait another week

Just waiting on the news on Danger. Mitchell a handy replacement in the meantime

    So boring I know

  2. I’m thinking of trading BOTH Maric and Jacobs!
Moving Cox over from the Fwd line, and Nicholls in as R2.
    Crazy?

  3. Was looking at scoring 2630 until Weagles game. Cox,Natinui and Kennedy all underperforming. Cox looked lazy. No one I need to trade and have 8 left but seriously considering Cox to SJ and Natainui to Roughead.

Good trades or don’t do it as they’ll come good.

  4. How was Marc Murphy’s hammy on Friday night? Looked like he twinged it for my money & got treatment, but seemed to look not too bad when he came back. Any thoughts Motts & others? At $376,800 & a BE of 102, he is certainly one i am watching to assist with mid depth – either this week or next few (if taking a wait & see until he at least ton’s up).

Thumbs UP: Marc Murphy will play this week
Thumbs DOWN: Did hammy, will not play this week.

  5. Everyone else with Danger in their team reluctant to trade the champion out? No doubt news on his scan will come out today. Anyone heard anything?

    Thumbs UP: Danger worth keeping.
Thumbs DOWN: Danger has to go as will either miss 3 or play injured & stink up.

  6. Won’t be trading unless Stevie J and Buddy are both not playing which would mean I’ll probably boot Buddy.

  7. I have terlich and am trading him to shaw to complete my backline. My forwards look full premium but I have players like monfries, franklin and Kennedy who seem to be stuck between mid price and premium. I want to get monfries out and I have 30k in the bank so can anyone suggest a forward at around 470,000.
I have stevie j, bartel, jjk, franklin, rockliff, monfries, (staker, daniher)

    – Hanley is cheapest for value but thinking hibbard now 444k or eski with massive roof and good for 90
    – Thompson is big p0d in league

Any help appreciated cheers SCT community

  12. Any chance SJ will cop a 1 or 2 match suspension? Low impact and contact. Points carried over and his previous bad record…. Didnt see the knee incident. If anyone did do they reckon he is in for a ban. Thinking of bringing him in for limp Cox

  14. It’s all quiet on the Warping front.

Bivouacked in a valley; the big guns which fired such precise and devastating salvos are silent. No reinforcements are on their way; in the cool of the misty morning, thirty men go about their business.

In the central tent, Commander-in-Chief Gary Ablett discusses troop deployment with his understudy, Scott Pendlebury. Although a consensus has been reached about the commander of the second wave (it will be Joel Selwood), the timing of their own battle deployment is causing some concern.

Fortunately there is no division at the top, and the man aren’t worrying about a power struggle, because the two top generals are wizened individuals who will eventually solve the question as to who will lead them into battle.

Before an answer could be reached, Dane Swan, looking lost, wandered into the tent. Finding the golden crown (filled with brown paper for padding), he mistook it for a pie case (with pie) celebrating the birth of the royal child.

This lead to a hilarious chase around the camp, as Swannie attempted to have his pie and eat it too, and the generals attempted to get the precious crown back.

Meanwhile, outside the tent, the unfortunate trio of Jimmy Webster, Kyle Martin and Daniel Currie have been made to ensure the artillery is in perfect working order; a difficult task exasperated by the fact that Xavier Richards and Brent Staker have tied ropes around cannon barrels, and are swinging to and fro and back and forth.

Nearby, Tom Nicholls has made Jed Lamb continually throw the ball up for ruck contests; he’s in good form, but as the Generals have told him he’ll be in battle rather than the reserves, he’s been practicing to keep himself in the best possible shape.

Opposing him is Ivan Maric; Maric moves between rucking and sitting in a group therapy session with Lance Franklin, Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui; with the three ruckmen sharing the rucking workload.

One man who you might expect would be in the session but is not is Bryce Gibbs; he’s been taken aside by Joel Selwood, who is demonstrating the concept of ferocity in battle by throwing a football at the side of a small cliff, before throwing his whole body onto it, attempting to stop it from bouncing back at him.

Whilst this is happening, Josh P Kennedy and Matthew Priddis have found an amusing distraction; they find a small crowd, toss a football in, and run in and try to be the first to grab onto it, much to the chagrin of those around them.

But not everyone is enjoying themselves. Brett Deledio woke up feeling very heavy, but it was soon obvious as to why; clanking chains aren’t subtle.

But subtlety was not something Trent Cotchin was going for (which is probably why he named the chains Ryan). Upon seeing the surly Deledio and determined Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Paul Duffield fell over laughing their heads off. Cotchin quickly shut Martin up by threatening him with much of the same.

And so, on a misty Monday morning, thirty men go about their business; they wait for battle to be joined.

And what a challenge it promises to be; a do or die encounter with the top coach in the League of Extraordinary coaches, Division I.

  15. Thoughts on this trade

Trade out B Ellis and swing Goodes back into defence and get in Mark Murphy. Think Ellis has done his dash, and what a dash it has been for as 2nd year player.

At $376,000 Murphy is a ridiculous bargain and Goodes was on my bench this week as I played Mitchell over him. His 22 was the fracture and he was very gun shy the first game back. He looked better on the weekend (saw last quarter and a half), had a tag for much of it plus a bit of a hammy concern ( I read, didn`t see). With Danger on the sideline I want another premium out there, it is debatable that Murphy is a premium this year but his past record is impeccable. Captain of a team fighting for finals, a bit of upside but a bit of a risk

    TU get Murphy
    TD only Motts agrees

  16. What do people think of trading Josh Thomas down in a purely for-cash move?

Originally I was thinking I could use his slot as a loophole slot however looking at Sydney’s draw (Mitchell) there isn’t really going to be many opportunities to exploit this.

I have 7 trades left before making any this round with a few guys who probably need to be upgraded in Mayne, Newman, Zorko, Maric…

  17. No trades for me

    3 easy wins coming up
    locked in top 4 finish
    5 trades
Hutchings Mitchell Rowe Nichols staker and clibsy plumping up nicely

Super coach cruise mode for the next 3 weeks till finals
Gona bring in griffen for last midfield spot in 3 weeks

  18. If I move on Dangerfield this week, I have three options:

    A) Straight swap to Barlow – It doesn’t help the kitty at all (leaving me about $20k), but does get me the second highest averaging player that I don’t have (Griffen being the one higher), who has a wonderful finals draw.

    B) “Downgrade” to JPK – Leaves me with a tick over $120k in the kitty which could be very handy later on (either for covering injuries or a potential Staker upgrade in a few weeks). He may be averaging 5ppg less than Barlow and has a harder draw, but he is an elite midfielder in a dominant side who is $100k cheaper.

    C) Do two trades. Firstly, downgrade Dangerfield to Marc Murphy while he is at $376k then upgrade Macaffer to Andrew Walker. This will leave me with an OK amount of cash, but will leave me with good cover in the forwards, rucks and midfield (Mitchell, Nicholls and Franklin). Murphy has averaged at least 111.8 for each of the last four seasons (so similar to what I would expect from Barlow and JPK), while Walker is somebody that I have wanted for a long time in the forward line.

At the moment I am leaning towards B, but I’m thinking that taking a PoD risk may be worth it at this stage of the year and therefore C may be the way to go. Thoughts?

  19. Whats everyone’s view on Brandon Ellis? With only 4 trades left and all my positions filled, this is the only position left to upgrade. I’m currently 2nd in my league so sitting quite well

TU Trade him for either Ibbo or Shaw
TD Keep him and wait till finals

  20. ive had over 500k sitting in the bank for several weeks waiting for my midfield rookies to fatten as much as possible.
what i need to ask here is, i have crouch now at approx 340k, and will raise another 15-20k this week, and ablett might go down another 15k aswell, but its ablett, he might go for 180 and stay where he is, but i need to know do i wait another week, or do i just get it done and have him in my side and finally fix my massive mistake of not starting with him.

    T/U do it

    T/D wait one more week

should point out i will have no problems making finals in each of my leagues.
plan is to then use my leftovers to do a jacobs (via cox) to rioli for just 30-40k next week and then have a whole lot to move mitchell to beams/griffen once he gets up near the 450k mark in 2-3 weeks. if i do crouch to ablett this week, i will have about 150k to make that last move, which would be very tight to get beams/griffen, if i wait one more week, that move will be a lot easier.

    team currently looks like this:
DEF- goddard, hanley, hartlett, shaw, gibbs, ibbotson (thurlow, clisby)
MID- pendlebury, swan, dangerfield, kennedy, priddis, fyfe, crouch (hrovat, saunders)
    RUCK- minson, nicholls (jacobs, currie)
FWD- cox, rockliff, kennedy, franklin, johnson, naitanui (staker, rowe)

  22. Considering Hartless to Hanley this week. A bit of a luxury trade I suppose, but quite fancy Brissy’s run home from here.

Only slight hesitation is I’m not sure Hanley will continue to kick goals late in tight games which must have aided his scoring a lot.

    TU: Do the trade

TD: Both will average about the same, save it for a rainy day

  23. Waiting to see the outcomes on:

    Stevie J
    A Swallow
    Enright
    Buddy
    NicNat

    And of course danger mouse.
Might be facing some trades, and only have 3 left.

Much as ditching buddy and terlich to hanley or swan would be nice, at this point it is merely about fielding a full team.

T/U: Wait a week, Barlow BE of 155 vs D.Jackson and Crouch is just going to go up in price. T.Mitchell is scoring well on field.

  33. Might trade Hartless to Shaw/Heppell. Holding Birchall for now to use the loophole between Scotland and Staker. Will then look at trading Birchall/Staker to Heppell/Shaw in the next few weeks.

  36. I think Vlastuin must go this week and with the possibility of dangerfield being out i was gonna go, with Vlastuin to Shaw, that will leave me $520,000 to get a replacement for Dangerfield, I was thinking cotchin, deledio or JPK. Any suggestions?

  37. Any thoughts on Nathan Bock come SC finals times if on the bubble?? 300K D/F DPP with Staker, possibly back into GC team this week.

For: – 9 goals in ressies, 5th game back from broken leg, 300K for proven star. D/F DPP (i.e. link with Staker)
Against – Age, coming back from injury, GC going for youth, alleged to be only person listed in drugs enquiry.

Would tempt a few if he scored 90+ in first two games back. Alleged drugs issue due to be resolved in August would be my concern.

  38. DEF
Shaw, Goddard, Gibbs, Hanley, Goodes, Vlastuin (Clisby, Wilson)

    MID
Ablett, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Swan, Selwood.J, Priddis, Fyfe, Heppell (Hrovat, Jack.B)

    Ruck
    Minson, Naitanui (Nicholls, Currie)

    Forward
Johnson.S, Cox, Kennedy.JJ, Martin.D, Rockliff, Franklin (Staker, Macaffer)

6 trades left. $24k in the bank. Top of the league by % but should be safe in top spot until finals at the very least. Even with the underperforming Weagles, Dangerfield and Vlastuins low scores, i got over 2400 last week.

    Thoughts:
-Vlastuin has to go. He is the main hole in my side. Wouldve got rid of him weeks ago but it wasnt possible with other trades that involved long term injuries.

-I feel like Nicholls is being under-utilised as R3 – he scores high enough every week to hold an on-field position.

-Franklin has underperformed all year. Had enough of hoping this guy will switch on.

    -Dangerfield has me worried.

If I bring in McBean.L purely to sit in R3 as R/F DPP, I can move Nicholls to R2 and NicNat to forward, and have enough cash to bring in Ibboston for Vlastuin and have 216k in the bank.

This would still give me cover over Rucks and Forwards due to DPP should there be minor injuries or reports (im looking at you, Steview J)

If NicNat or Kennedy.JJ underperform going forward, i could upgrade one to Roughy or Walker.A with the amount in the bank after this week and still have a few trades left in case of emergency.

Havent heard any news on Dangerfield yet but if he is out any more than 2-3 weeks I’ll be considering dropping him straight trade for Barlow instead of the above.

Provided Dangerfield isnt out long term:

T/U: Get rid of Vlastuin & Franklin for Ibbotson & McBean.
T/D: Find another way to get rid of Vlastuin. McBean is risky.

    Thurlow —-> Grimes

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Goodes, Heppell, McKenzie, Grimes (Hartlett, Duffield)

C: Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Priddis, Jelwood, Deledio, Cotchin, T.Mitchell (Crouch, Hutchings)

    R: Naitanui, Kruezer (Nicholls, Gawn)

F: Walker, Cox, Rockliff, Franklin, Zorko, Staker (S.Johnson, Daniher)

Only people left to upgrade are Pittard, Watson?, Priddis/Hrovat, T.Mitchell

    Watson > Griffen/Jack/J.Selwood

  42. Struggling for depth in def/fwd, and have no ddp’s in my midfield. With 500k in the bank and 8 trades, making moves are no concern. Have a big game this week, and with Danger out need some midfield scoring. Thinking of going Jaeger > Pendles and Wines > Zorko (Zorko had DDP status which i need and is only 2k higher than Ollie) and sticking it out with Danger in the hope i can steal a finals spot. Any thoughts/ suggestions would be appreciated cheers 🙂

  43. Hey guys, my team currently is:

Def – Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Heppell, McKenzie, Goodes (Webster, Clisby)
Mids – Ablett, Pendles, Kennedy, Barlow, Danger, Priddis, Rockliff, Selwood (T.Mitchell, Crouch)
Rucks – Naitanui, Nicholls (Jacobs, Currie)
Fwds – JJK, Bartel, Cox, Martin, Franklin, Staker (Daniher, Oxley)

I do have sufficient bench cover in Mitchell and Crouch to cover Danger for the time being, but at the same time I could trade Danger to another premium, though I’m really trying to hold my 5 remaining trades for finals, as I’m in the top 4 in about 3 leagues, but the gaps are so small in places so I have to keep winning to keep the spots. So,

    T/U – Trade Danger for a premium,]
T/D – Hold Danger and play bench cover and hope they do well enough for the next few weeks

    Cheers guys

  44. Hey SCT coaches,

Thinking of these 2 trades……it will still leave me with 5 trades after the fact!

Dangerfield out……….Rockliff in….very concerned about Dangers injury!
Kyle Martin out………..Brent Harvey in…..still a bit of a POD

This will give me gr8 mid/fwd cover for any injuries & a premium like player on both mid & fwd benches after bringing Stevie J of the bench & back into my side next week after his week off.

T/U………….Like it Catta…..will do very well
T/D…………That’s ludicrous Catta, what a you thinking!

    Cheers SCT coaches 🙂

  45. Currently sitting on 5 trades and planning to trade Terlich to McBean (swinging Staker into the backline) which allows me to move Cox into my FWD putting Zorko on the bench and Nicholls on the field in my RUC. This trade creates $332,500 which I’m planning on using to send Crouch to a premium sometime before finals and also pocketing ±$100,000 which I can use to patch another area on my ground (Hartlett and Franklin look most likely). If Buddy is not named this week then, it is a no-brainer for me to send him to Bartel with my 2nd trade to avoid a donut and generate an average of 17ppg. But, if Buddy is named and there is no reason for me to trade him this week, who should I be looking at to bring in for Crouch? I was thinking of waiting a week for Griffen to drop ±$30,000 and Crouch to rise ±$20,000, but I was also considering bringing in Mundy this week who is in great form averaging 126 in his last 3 and 118 in his last 5 and also has that great Fremantle finals run, what are people’s thoughts?

Just for the record, my current midfield is:
Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Barlow, Selwood, JPK, Priddis, Mitchell, (Crouch, Hrovat)

  46. Softening on my stance of not trading this week.

I’m now thinking i’ll tear up Ellis’ contract and sign a marquee player for my squad.

Contemplating two options and it’s a little Buddy related as i have a non-playing F8 plus Stevie J and Buddy. So if Buddy’s out i’m staring at a doughnut.

    Option 1 (Thumbs Up)
With money in the bank i’ll swing Staker into the def and i’ll upgrade to a premium fwd like Roughie.
    EFFECT:
    * Would give me a Staker/Oxley link across the def/fwd.
    * Staker would become D6/D7 with Terlich.
    * Looked at the fixture ahead, i could have Buddy in a loophole at F7 emegency most weeks and take his score if he performs well through Oxley.
    * No obvious candidate to bench though if i was to loophole with my current fwds being Cox, Stevie J, Walker, Martin, Rockliff, Franklin.

    Option 2 (Thumbs Down)
Almost straight swap of Ellis for Hanley.
    EFFECT:
    * No def/fwd link which is not a huge issue but still something i’d like at some point if i can orchestrate it.
    * Terlich D7 and with Thurlow at D8 i could do a loophole some weeks, depends when Geelong has their match obviously.
    * Staker stays at F7. Possibility for a few loophole weeks with Collingwood’s fixturing.

Thinking the 2nd option is the wiser one as Hanley in strengthens my defensive end and saves some cash for a rainy day.

Sorry for the long and slightly rambling post. Thoughts would be muchly appreciated.

  47. At this stage my team for this week is looking like:

Goddard, Hanley, Shaw, Gibbs, Goodes, Staker, (Thurlow, Clisby)
Ablett, Pendles, Swan, JPK, Lids, D.Martin, Mayes, TMitchell, (Danger, Jobe)
    Goldy, Nicholls, (Blicavs, Moller)
Walker, Rocky, JJK, Buddy, Nic Nat, Rowe, (Stevie J, X.Richards)

Only have 3 trades left with $611400 in the chest, Playing last place this week so easy win.
Would love some opinions on what to do (if anything) as im stumped.
