Trade Talk R4, 2013

Written by Motts on April 15 2013

Its time to cut them loose. You gave it a shot, but they just couldn’t cut the mustard, so they’re gone.

At the same time, your eye has been caught by someone new. The way they move, their style, their flair.

Who’s in and who’s out this week?

  1. Zorko is on the block but hate the thought of losing $47k on him

Might just stick with him until later in the season and see how he goes.

Mumford also venturing south towards the chop

  2. Varcoe, Mitchell and Zorko are my problem areas this week. I had planned to bring Terlich and Crouch in this week for Mitchell and one of Kommer/Jones. However the later two were good, at this stage I will keep them and bring in one of Crouch/Terlich for Mitchell.

    Up – Crouch
    Down – Terlich

  3. Got 410K in the bank

Vlastuin to Birchall leaves me with 40K leftover
Birchall looks like a gun and is only 25.

    yes/no?

  4. The Big Mummy is bleeding points with the new ruck rule, so far he’s leading the comp with 13 Frees against and Mike Pike has been taking over in the center bounce also. Times up for the big Mummy, later Bra 😉 .

At the moment im looking at

  6. Considering biting the bullet and trading Dangerfield this week to Cotchin. I dont think Danger will score that well against Lower and then he has Carrots the next week. If he drops to an irresistible price, I will simply trade Mundy to him for 30-50k.

  7. Thinking of downgrading ablett to say pendles or deledio then bank some money and get him back when he is at his cheapest thoughts.
    Thumbs up good move
    Thumbs down bad move

  8. What to do with roughead? Only premium not averaging 100

    Thumbs up – keep him.

Thumbs down – trade for leuy/bartel

  9. Vlastuin into Leuenberger for the one trade I had planned. (Blicavs swapped into the mids)

Not sure if I need to make any more at this early stage.

  10. Planning on doing something similar. If he can’t deal with the tight tags for the next 2 he’s gonna drop a ton and you won’t be able to do anything with him. If he shows enough form later you’d be able to bring him back in dirt cheap. Doing danger to cotch myself this week

  11. All right.
My experiments with Atley and Varcoe have not paid off.
    Here’s the plan:
    Varcoe OUT
    Cloke IN
    Atley OUT
    Hutchins IN

    What’s everyone think?

  12. Only one on the block for me is Mitchell. I heard he is back on the rookie list anyone know if that’s true? I’m thinking of Mitchell out, neade into the middle and Sinclair up fwd

  13. To late to get Wines?

The kids an absolute jet and I missed the boat. He is going to skyrocket in price, especially if he continues to average even 90+

  14. Pretty happy with my team thus far. Dangerfield the only real concern but will stick with him for now. One trade this week then. Currie to Rowe.

  15. Looking at Danger and Varcoe on the chopping block this week.

    Any thoughts on trades?

Currently thinking about bringing in the Toff or Monfries and Wingard
Already loaded with PA rookies though so other trade combinations would be great to hear!

  16. Thinkin of trading out danger for cotch and blicavs to rowe. Score last round – 2347/pendles, 5/5 legue wins and currently ranked 850 overall

My mids are – Pendles, JPK, Swan, Fyfe, Danger, Wines, Jaeger and A. Mullet bench – B. Hill and Viney

    Any suggestions for my team????

  17. The reason I started with Zorko, like most coaches, is because I thought he’s a premium that could increase his output in 2013. However the more I think about it, when was Dayne Zorko ever a premium? He had one good year, his first year and now attracts plenty more attention in his second. Plus now Brisbane have Maloney in the middle and Rockliff back there again. So am thinking of:

    Zorko -> Monfries
    Vlastuin -> Birchall

That pushes Pittard/Stevenson to the bench in the backs. Thoughts?

  18. T/U Varco -> Martian (I got the $ already) with the number of midfielders the tigers have stepping up this year he won’t cop a tag and is good enough to continue these scores against the better teams

    or

T/D Varco -> Rowe (my question is job security and wasting a trade) Rowe will be a handy $cow and he will be the only good news story coming out of Carlton this year so his job security is safe :p.

    or

some one else named in the comments

Used 2 trades last week on rookie corrections
    Varco is in my fowards

  19. Thoughts on Zaharakis?
Note: Have the cash to go big (Ablett Jnr big)

Zaka seems to be able to put on a show when he strings together some games, has been luckless over the last few years with injury, but when he puts them together he can seriously score some points. Got him at the start knowing the risk, but the potential is there.
Copped a 30K loss this week,

My Alternative, chopping him for Wingard, He’s 80,000 cheaper and going strong (averaging nearly 120). My only concern is he’s shining against some dud teams, and I’ve missed the first 80K to bank.
Given the way he’s going, if he does break out completely like some expect, he could be worth 500 by the end of the year. But there is an element of risk.

    Thoughts?

  20. Thinking of dropping Mummy and bringing in Goldstein

Started with three scores over the ton. Always plenty of hit-outs and gets a bit of the footy
    Costs $516k

  21. heres my team
def: goddard, heppell, hartlett, goodes, heath, stevenson (pittard, terlich)
mid: pendlebury, kennedy, swan, dangerfield, wines, o meara, viney (hill, kommer)
    ruck: cox, jacobs (blicavs, currie)
fwd: franklin, rockliff, kennedy, walker, dwyer, neade (rowe, macaffer)

have 342k and im going to go and grab both lecras and goldstein. dropping walker and one of my rookie rucks but need to know which do i drop out of currie or blicavs at this point (as currie cant get a game but was so good in preseason he should be knocking on the door, and there wont be a spot for blicavs soon however he still has a negative b/e.)

    t/u currie
    t/d blicavs

  22. Sitting at ranking 702 with an average of 2325.Have $516K in the bank and have only used 1 trade.

I think it’s time to get rid of Karnezis and K MItchell.

    So here’s my potential trades

Karnezis out – Swing Jenkins from Ruck to Fwds and bring in Leuy.
KMitchell out – Swing Gibbs from the backs into the Mids and bring in Birchall.

What are the communities thoughts on this??

    Thanks

  23. Suban >> Terlich
    and
    Kobi >> Crouch

Ranked 795 and setting up the team nicely with plenty of cashola in the bank to upgrade those nasty rookies.

  24. My trades this week will be

  25. Hmmm…best option to trade out Zorko?

Am leaning towards Monfries or LeCras, but have the cash to grab anyone under $570k, and have Neade/Cox opening up the possibility of a ruck or mid option. Thoughts?

  26. Thought it would be a good exercise to review my trades thus far.

    Post round one:
    Watts -> Terlich (tick)
Rich -> Ablett (tick at this stage)

    Post round two:
Karnezis -> Dwyer (tick if Dwyer keeps playing)
    Varcoe -> Kennedy (massive tick)

Lesson learnt: Mid pricers are just too risky. Start the team with as much of a G&R approach as possible and only bring in the must have mid-pricers after getting a good look at them for 2-3 weeks.

  27. T/U: Goodes into the middle then Kane Mitchell–> Hutchins
    T/D: Against the idea.

If I go with my first idea it leaves my middle as: GAJ, JPK, Cotchin, Swan, Wines, Goodes, Viney, Crouch, (Neade O’Meara)
I just don’t know if it is worth putting Goodes in the middle because there are just too many good rookie players in there and to have a player that could be playing in the back line taking a rookie’s spot just puts doubt in my mind.
    So comment for suggestion please.

  28. If Mayes is selected again for the next two rounds and one chooses to hold onto Zorko would it be feasible to trade him straight down to Mayes to generate cash whilst he’s ‘on the bubble,’ depending on which Zorko under performs for a fourth time?

  30. I have another idea which effectively does nothing to my scoring but should have me better placed for some premo upgrades and cash cow milking in rounds 5 – 7.

    KMichell to Crouch
    Karnezis to Rowe.

Leaves me with a war chest of $667,700

  31. Whitfield to Crouch? Whitfield has a b/e of 4 so will go up however Crouch looks the good and will pocket 100k.

  34. Set on going with Karnezis to Luenberger via Cox this week and would love some advise on what to do with Zorko

I will have $704,000 after getting rid of Zorko to trade in any FWD, MID or DEF using DPP

Current premo’s are; DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Hartlett.
    MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Swan
    FWD: Franklin, Rockliff, JJK

Thinking of either; Bartel, A.Walker, Deledio, Birchall or Crouch and pocket the cash for later

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

  35. How come there isn’t much talk about about Westhoff ?

this is an honest question as he is leading the forwards on average, is nicely priced and is going up significantly in value

  36. thoughts on Roughead- trade out now or will he come good? i was hoping he’d average round 100 and he’d be in my ruck/forwards all year, but not so sure now- is he playing a different role this year or just down on form?

  37. I just can’t bring myself to trade in Monfries. Yes the numbers look good and yes he played well against the crows on Sunday too, but its Angus Monfries. Also Kane Mitchell being relegated to the rookies makes that choice easier too. So through a little bit of DPP magic, now i’m leaning towards:

Zorko -> Luenberger (Cox goes fwd)
Mitchell -> Birchall (Vlastuin goes mid)

I prefer this option as it leaves an extra $65k in the bank comparison. Let me know what you all think.

  38. What are your thoughts, guys?
    Kruezer > Goldstein (thumbs up)
    Kruezer to Luenberger (thumbs down)

Also looking to go Jed Lamb (yes, yes I know, why did I pick him in the 1st place…!) to Rowe. JS looking good with Kruezer going down plus he’ll make some good cash.

  39. This is my dilemma! ROBBIE GRAY! I got him at the start of the year in the hope that he will rack up the points, if he is not in the starting 22 this week he is on the block! Anyone else have the same issue? Thoughts?

  40. Out of Wines, Viney or O’Meara who would you upgrade to Dangerfield or maybe even Ablett. If Crouch rises to enough cash, I think Crouch may be victim. What are your opinions?

  41. Was really planning on not trading this week after already burning 4 the last 2 weeks on corrective trades, but looks like im going to have to. Kreuzer out for….

    Thumbs up: Rowe + $363K
    Thumbs down: Leuenberger + $178K

Leaning towards Rowe and pocket the extra cash, thoughts?

  42. Kommer offered two weeks by the MRP, bit harsh I tough but there it is. The big question for me is will he come back into the team after a two week rest or will he be overlooked for others (aka Merritt)?

  43. Who to replace Varcoe …

UP – Dwyer $171K – Scores of 49 110 71 (will return to rookie list sooner or later)
    DOWN – S.Mayes $164K – Score of 72

  44. so i have 2 options to get rid of Varcoe would like your opinions..

TU: trade currie to rowe, then switching rowe to forwards via varcoe and turn varcoe into luenberger.
    or.
TD: trade varcoe to rowe, and then trade k.mitchell to s.mayes.

  45. first trade this week is going to be zorko going out and bring in the young fella rowe ( no kruz , and on the bubble ) swap coxy in the forward line and bring sam rowe in the starting ruck position .
second trade ,I am going to get rid of mitchell and swap goodes to the midfield and open a spot in the back line to bring in young hanley that leaves $8200 in the bank .

  46. Ok, my team is rubbish. My team needs help.

I’m thinking Varcoe to Sinclair (WCE) and Vlastuin to Berger via moving Blicavs to the midfield bench. What do you think?

  47. Thinking this week Zorko our for Buddy or Mitchell out for Crouch and Daw out for Rowe. Buddy has a reasonable be of around 90, Zorko will lose more money and Rowe is on the bubble and Daw not getting a game. That and Kreuzers injury mean Rowe is an astute trade in this week I think.

Thumbs up Zorko/Daw out for Buddy/Rowe
Thumbs down Mitchell/Daw out for Crouch/Rowe

  48. Trading out Varcoe & looking at cash cow replacement

Thumbs UP: Crouch of Crows into mids- 115K, (BE -70), 85 v Bris, 50 v Port
Plays WB, Carl, Hawks, GSW & St-Kilda

Thumbs DOWN: Hutchins of GC in Def (via goodes into mids)- 115K (BE -100), 78 v Syd, 87 v Bris. Plays PA, GWS, FREO, Melb, WB (nice opponents)

Any comments on JS, sub potential etc would be greatly appreciated.

  49. Looking at downgrading Karnezis & add For / Ruck DPP to eventually get Cox into forwards. Two good options this week: –

    Thumbs UP: Sam Rowe – 115K (BE -77), 65 v Coll, 77 v Geelong
Plays WC, Adel, Melb, St-Kilda, Port, Bris & GWS

    Thumbs DOWN: Callum Sinclair – 112K (BE -59), 41 v Hawks, 81 v Melb
Plays Carl, PA, WB, Bris, NM & GWS

Again, comments on JS etc would be great. Read today that Nic Nat went on his first jog but still a few weeks away. Question to WC fans, does Sinclair look handy enough to keep spot even when Nic Nat returns or will Lycett even come back in as highly thought of?

  52. Is it worth using another trade (used 3 so far, earlier did Vlas to Birchall) Hutchins for Docherty? only have 40K in the bank.

  53. Trade 1= Karnezis -> Luenberger

Trade 2= Zorko -> any premium defender (via Vlastuin)

Unsure whether to go for Hanley or Birchall though. Hanley is on fire, but against weaker teams? Birchall is more proven historically, and seems to be benefitting from the lack of Suckling (who is out for the whole season).

    TU – Hanley
    TD – Birchall

  54. Want an opinion on how these trades fly if possible:
Bit risky but could pay huge dividends if it works

    Zorko – Wingard and
    Varcoe – Westhoff

Thumbs up – Nice one, potential good pod’s and worth it for the extra scoring and extra value in the team and Port Adelaide have the easiest fixture ever

Thumbs down – What a mad man, too many Port Adelaide players in the team and a waste of trades.

Thanks for the advice (Already have C Heath, Pittard, Stevenson, Wines and Neade from PA, first time in history ive ever had so many port players 🙂 )

  55. need some opinions on who to trade in this week. first trade is mummy > Luey which leaves me with 698k in the bank. next trade will be varco for someone.
Fwds are buddy, monfries, kennedy, neade, dwyer, byrnes, mccaffer

Thumbs up: Westhoff – means 3 port players in fwds, but can move neade into the mids in the coming weeks. also a good POD and will still make some cash.

Thumbs down: LeCras – not really a POD in my league

not really a fan of Cox, think he is over priced at this stage.

comment if you have any other suggestions

    Cheers!

  56. Facing a supercoach dilema.
OUT: Varcoe IN: Lecras (already traded him out), Zorko, Qstick, Josh Hill.

Lacking funds, and wana try save some cash for Gazza down the track?
Any ideas on whom could average around of above the 80+ mark?

    Cheers!

  57. Am looking to trade Roughy out of fwds for Rowe as have Cox and Jacobs in rucks and keep dpp for byes and injuries; Roughy really struggled towards end of last year, especially during finals and not setting worldon fire this one. Also trading out K Mitchell for Hodgey as he is cheap gun with only two games under his belt and looks to have come back moving really well. T/U T/D?

  58. Currie isn’t looking like he’ll get a game at North any time soon. Don’t know who to trade him out for. Rowe is most likely, but I don’t know how many more games he will get with plenty of talls at Carlton. Sinclair could be a good choice with the news of Naitanui out for a few more months, but how many games will he get in a strong West Coast team?
Rowe/Sinclair won’t be on my field, instead on the bench at F4 as a Ruck/Forward swing with Cox, just want their price to keep ticking over so I can make maybe $200k of them come upgrade time.

    T/U: Rowe
    T/D: Sinclair

  62. So like everybody else I’ve got to get rid of varcoe and have enough $$ in the bank to go to anybody I want in the midfield. I currently have pendles, selwood, fyfe, mundy, moloney.

At the moment my money is on Kennedy because I think I can pick up Gary Ablett quite a bit cheaper in a couple of weeks time by upgrading a moloney or a mundy, plus I want to see how this hand injury pans out for him this week. The others I’m really tossing up over are Cotchin, Deledio and Jobe. I’ve also got half an eye on the bye rounds and think that that move will effect me less.

    Thoughts??

    In fact, everyone, Walker
    T/U – Worth getting
    T/D – Fool’s gold

  64. Martin or Le Cras ?
TU- Le Cras- Cheaper has a pretty easy draw over the next 5-6 rounds and suits better with the bye rounds
TD- Martin-Is DPP is capable of going huge, and may have gotton over his last half fadeouts-Doesn’t suit for bye rounds

  65. Got a few issues now: Zorko, Varcoe and K.Mitchell.

    T/U- Varcoe > Mayes
Zorko > any forward ($179,900 to spend)

T/D- Varcoe > Lee/C.Sinclair (keep Dwyer & Neade on the ground)
Zorko > any forward ($232,200 to spend)

Looking at keeping K.Mitchell on the bench with rookie mids Wines, Viney, O’meara on the ground.

Any comments for other suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m thinking with westhoff because of the $$$$ rise, if hes spuds will be turning him into Franklin with the $$ gain

  67. Quick rule check please.
If i make trades now, they can only be reversed until the first game starts even though the players i have transferred in and out may not have played?

If i make no trades now, i can still make up to two trades after the first game has been played, although it can only be players that have yet to play, that i can transfer in/out?

    Have i got this correct?

  68. Trading Wines in this week as his price is expected to rise quite substantially , in order to do this i want to downgrade Dixon in the defence to another cheaper defender , possibly a rookie. Anyone have any players in mind?
