  1. Is Mundy worth a look? I dunno how much he’ll rise in price but atm he’s $526,600, and averaging 113, which will increase after his 121 point performance.

So overall, his scores so far this year will have been 102, 92, 143 and 121.

Do we think these scores will last the whole year, or is it just a purple patch?

    1. Dear Ben.

At the beginning of the season Matteo or Hutta? did a review of Freo.

They mentioned Fyfe ,Neale. and the Hill brothers as possible prime movers at Freo.

I said ” I rate Mundy 3rd best of the Freo Mids.”

I still believe this to be true, should average 100….105? this season.

But he will be lucky to finish top 30 mids.

M Murphy probably a safer pick for the money,

Though I think he will finish somewhere outside the top 10.

Spend the extra cash and get Rocky or Bont or Sloane.or Jellwood. Dusty?

      1. Tom Boyd has to go.

        3 just isn’t good enough .

I think he might miss next week anyway.

        Might trade him for……………………

Anyone under $150 k who has good JS.

        He He,

I think Treloar could be last years Wines

Promises so much, but butchers the ball !.

        18

        3
  2. Treliar is definitely on the potential chop list. Just need a viable fallen premo or corrective trade.

    9

    20
    1. Sour cream is a proven premo but gravy has a good break even. I’d go gravy simply because of the smoothness around the chip and it covers more ground

  3. Going Gawn to Stef Martin. Martin is on fire, had 52 hit outs against Nankervis today. Absolutely ripping form.

    23

    1. Martin is indeed in fantastic form. But you just know that whenever you bring him in, Fagan is going to start playing Archie Smith the following week.

      19

      8
      1. Yeah but there’s Grundy with Cox on the other side. Goldstein and Preuss.

The only one out ruck I see as potentially worth selecting is Mumford.

        5

        7
  4. Getting in Hanners now, he’s ready to fire.

Can’t decide whether to get rid of Hampton or Marchbank, thinking Hampton. Also getting in Balic for sure for Florent probably.

    9

    11
    1. I’m a big fan of the Fallen Premiums rule but for mine, I’m steering clear of Treloar and Hanners for now…….

      23

      1
      1. Not sure you’re comparing apples with apples there Schwarz.

Also, first year of draft and went Rocky with my first round pick after your write-up! So far, so good, cheers.

        1. Hey Chips,
Fingers crossed that Rocky stays fit. Not many Coaches took him at Rd1 but has so much X-Factor in SC.
Maybe I should re-phrase with Hanners & Treloar…..I can pick 8 MIDs that I’d rather have before those 2. Until that changes, I’ll pass……

          9

          0
          1. Good point. I have Beams at M7 but no Dusty, Sloane or Bont, so it becomes a risk picking an out of form fallen prem.

            5

            0
  5. Aye the pain. Have danger and rough and need 380. Danger as skip. Hopefully he repeats last year and pumps 160. Then rough can get his 80. Fingers crossed.

    10

    1
  6. Need to replace Higgins and Heppell

As part of my thinking was wondering who do people think the tops of different positions are?

    Backs: Adams, Docherty, Laird,
Mids: Danger, Pendles, Rock, Sloane, Bont, JPK?
    Rucks: Martin, Gawn?
Fwds: Dahlhaus, Nank, Roo, Macrae, ?

There seems to be some fallen guys like Shaw etc and Murphy, Wines seem to be comeback and reaching potential but struggling to find those extra top tier players. Also Walker in the fwds seems to be on the end of the great work of Adelaide and could consistently post 100s.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    1. There’s a guy over in the west, Nat Fyfe. Might have heard of him. Plays a decent footyball. Reckon he could be alright.

      23

      0
    2. Why do you want to replace Higgins at this point?
He’s averaging over 90, surely you have more important trades than that.

We know it’s inevitable he’ll get injured at some point, but at least wait till it happens?

      4

      0
      1. Exactly. He has had 2 big games.

In a team as weak as North with questionable output from goldy there is huge upside if goldy gets fit.

        0

  7. Is anybody hesitant to bring in Freo rookies like Balic because of the Ross Lyon factor? I’m yet to be convinced that FURL is a renaissance man and is now invested into giving these kids a go. I fear as soon as they have anything close to a couple of poor games or even just the one poor game (this is FURL we’re talking about) they’ll be dropped back to the WAFL, never to see the light of day again.

    3

      1. Depends how much cash I have, can’t be bothered working out price changes. Best case, Pickett, worst case Barrett/SPP. Te rest are going ok so happy to part with one early.

EDIT: Looks like SPP based on new prices. He will have little growth next two weeks due to his low scores in his cycle and then have their bye in a few weeks anyway.

        3

  8. Roughead and omeara on the chopping block, might downgrade one and upgrade the other

I also have florent, Eddy , Stewart … So one of those rookies may be cashed in instead of omeara… And use that money to dump roughead… Could give omeara a chance?

    Thoughts ?

    3

    4
  9. I don’t have the funds to upgrade JOM to a 600k+ premo mid so i think im going to have to see how he goes this week. Theres no sub 600k mids that i like the look of. Think i might hold trades this week or possibly trade a non playing rookie in eddy or a higher BE rookie in florent to balic.

    3

    0
  10. Treloar> Bont
    Marchbank> Lloyd

have 252k spare and this would use it all as well as bring me down to 24 trades.

    TU: Go ahead
TD: Not worth it better trades can be made.

    5

    34
  11. Is jake lloyd likely to be a top 10 defender? I currently have shaw, howe and laird. Considering my def upgrade targets are adams, doch and one of zac williams and lloyd. Im gonna wait till after the byes for adams as all three of my current guys have same bye and doch is too expensive atm so considering a trade of eddy or taranto to balic and marchbank to lloyd.

    T/u good move
T/d wait for better defense options

    10

    9
    1. Seems to be playing a bit of Mid at the moment. I wonder what happens to his scoring when Heeney returns and when the other Sydney mids decide to show up on a regular basis.

      3

      0
  12. Taranto > Balic
    JOM > ?

Would be left with 525k in the bank so I’m not sure whether to…
    TU: Pick up J.Kelly/C.Oliver/Heppell
TD: Pick up J.Macrae or other premo forward

  13. good evening lads.. I think I’ll get mostly negatives for this but it’s tempting..

    S.P.P Out, Balic In
    Shaw Out, Rocky In

    T/U Yes
    T/D No

as always I appreciate any input..

    4

    28
    1. Of course Rocky is tempting…….but not for Shaw. You got him for a reason…..HOLD and look elsewhere to getting Rocky in…..

      7

  14. M Hibbard out for Zac fisher I know it’s early but had get rid of hibbard and the Smith out for Harly Blairc think they are good trades and make heaps of cash

    6

    0
  15. T/u trade florent to balic (in mids), then roughead to Josh Kennedy (fallen premo)?

T/d don’t do it. Trade roughie for someone else . Please make a suggestion!

  16. Can someone tell me about Mitch Duncan? Ripe age, brilliant disposal efficiency in recent years, looks to have taken his game up a level after a good preseason. Is this just early season form, or could he be on the up? At $539k; not a bad price?

    3

    6
    1. Was about to say he’d never be in the top 10 mid category that we seek. Having seen his numbers for the start of this season I’ll admit there is actually a slim chance he reaches that but I’m still not convinced.

There’s also not enough value there to pick him without knowing he’ll be consistent. Would be a huge risk with very little payoff.

      1

      0
    2. I was looking at Duncan too – great player BUT the only worry is that he’s very much an outside mid. If Selwood or Danger get injured, he’s cactus.

      0

      0
    3. Has had his good patches of form in the past but Danger & Selwood still a long way ahead of him in terms of Top10MIDs (over an entire season)………

      1

  17. Looks like O’Meara and Roughead both out, Balic and someone who costs $616,500 or less who plays forward and midfield in. No need to spend it all, but happy to for the right player. Bargains good, if there.

Have Fyfe, Mitchell, Treloar, Dalhause, and MacRea. Who would you suggest I bring in and why?

    2

    0
    1. Forward and midfield, with you already having Dahlhause and MacRae leaves little to go at.

It’s Touk Miller or Elliot Yeo, of the two i’d pick Elliot Yeo.

      6

      0
        1. I am too, if he can keep getting tons he’s cheap at 470 or so in the fwd line and it gives you just over 100k to improve another part of your team in the coming weeks.

However I’d look to get another premo Mid under 616k in the likes of Joelwood, Martin, Zerrett (pod), Kennedy.

          1

          0
          1. Joelwood, Martin, and Murphy are my current Mid favorites. Not at all clear between them, thus my asking here. Plus Yeo. Argh. At least I am clear on bringing in a season keeper and a rookie.

            0

            0
            1. My only comment would be that if you want Martin he’s more than likely going to fall in price over the next two weeks

              4

              0
              1. I had Yeo during the last two seasons. Each time he’s done the same thing. Starts well but when injuries set in, he’s forced to play a defensive role. FWIW, no way I’m taking him again……

                9

                0
                1. He’s playing a defensive role now.

I think last season was just a year too soon. He is only 23.

I admit that buying a guy who I specifically mocked in the “Downfall meets Supercoach” video is seriously temping fate.

He is cheap enough that I could get him in now, and then probably Dusty two weeks from now using the downgrade cash from next week.

                  3

                  0
                  1. As long as their list remains healthy (bar ruck department), he will play that role. When injury hits, that’s when he’s thrown around to plug holes.

                    2

                    0
                    1. Great choice, but I own him and too expensive if I did not. My first choice of who I do not own would be Sloane, but I can’t quite afford him.

                      1

                      0
  18. Thinking of going a little radical this week. Trying to look over the horizon from only 4 weeks form, however a couple of good mids are starting to lose $ and a couple of great mids look like going up in price. So……thinking of:

    OUT: Treloar IN: Bontompelli
    OUT: Mitchell IN: Rockliff

Are either Treloar or Mitchell definite keepers for the year?

I may only one of these and fix up a cheapie in defence, (both Pendles & D. Martin will probably suffer price drops next week as well and I wouldn’t mind either of them). However, the above 2 trades are tempting!

    Thoughts?

    16
    1. Dear Mike.

When you selected Trelore and Mitchell did you believe they would be keepers for the year?

I’m not sure how many trades you have used so far, but spending money sideways trading Premos this early is very risky.

Surely there are other areas of your team that could use the cash?

If you are top 1000 and still have 28+ trades left. I would consider one of those trades. If not, I would spend the cash elsewhere.

Ps; I presume you are talking about T Mitchell.

      3

      1. Hi Freo,

Yes, I know you are right. Sometimes it’s hard to be patient with guys who are clearly burning the ball, and therefore points along with it – (Treloar). I’m trying to show patience…….we’ll see.
I’m top 3000 at the moment (26 trades left), and yes, there are other areas of the team that could do with some tweaking, and that’s probably what I’ll end up doing if I do anything at all.
The downward movement of supposed Premo’s value coupled with the upward movement of players scoring well creates a double impact sometimes and can take players out of your reach very quickly.

        1

        0
      1. No…..but their performances do!
If you want to be called a Premo you need to score like one, isn’t that the point?

        6

  19. wow,
    interesting Easter
went from a possible 2300 on Saturday to 2033 at rd’s end.
at least I got plenty of easter eggs 🙂
what to do this week ???????
    need your help and thoughts.
    I have 26 trades
have no injury concerns (that I’m aware of this early in week) maybe Danger but would only be a week if he’s a touch sore (thanks roughie)
BUT my main concern is roughie and being that trades are gold etc
should I trade roughie or wait a week or 2, as usual my worry is wasting a trade if he comes good, he’s not going to loss any or not much money this week.
    and have only $34,000
so I’m thinking of sitting on my hands a saving a trade, or downgrade him but for whom???
    t/u trade away/downgrade target
t/d save those precious trades/ at least wait a week

    7

    5
    1. If you see someone to downgrade to then don’t let them go to waste. I am de-hawking with both Roughy and O’Meara going out for a rookie and a premo.

      4

      0
  20. TU: Out: J O’Meara, W Hoskin-Elliot, In: H Balic, L Dahlhaus
Forward line will then be Dahlhaus, Roughead, Taranto, Butler, McCarthy, Turner.

    TD: Out: J O’Meara, J Roughead/WHE, In: D Hannebery, H Balic
If Hannebery is brought in, my midfield will consist of Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Selwood, Kennedy, Fyfe, Priddis, Hannebery and SPP with the last spot reserved for T Rockliff.

    4

    8
    1. The TD outs but bring in someone better than Hannsers. He’s not looking top 10 this season, even if he gets better.

      1

      0
      1. I could bring in Rockliff but it means going a week early on Z Fisher and looping J Pickett and M Hannan for the F6 spot.

        0

        3
            1. All of J Selwood, Dusty, M Murphy, Dahlhaus would be good or better. Yeo if you are brave enough but I would not advise anyone to bring him in, even if I am thinking of it. Plus you don’t have Dahlhaus yet.

              1

              0
  21. Hi have Cripps and Treloar in my mid who are underproming. Also have $12ok in the bank

    Was thinking of trading:

    TU- in Murphy and Rocky
TD- Cripps for Murphy and SPP of Balic

    1

    4
  22. Have O’meara and roughy on the chopping block.

    Looking to go

    Roughy -> Balic
    O’meara -> anybody

    Tossing up between Rocky/murphy/sloane/bont

    TU – Rocky
    TD – Murphy

    13

    1
  23. Heath Shaw is worrying me a little. With the knock that he had on the weekend and seems to be in competition with Zac Williams for kick outs and that sweeper role.

T/U: you have reason to be worries, his role is transitioning. Be afraid
T/D: you are being silly and paranoid and rediculous and probably stop playing this game

    17

    3
    1. In order, I would be trading out Taranto, Powell-Pepper and Petrevski-Seton.

Although, I would want to be looking at someone other than Ebert. Never averaged more than 100 in a season. Always seems to go on streaks of good scores but has never been consistent. Started 2015 with an average of 112 from the first 11 only to end up on 97 for the entire season.

      6

      0
  24. Roughy and Pickett > Murphy and Balic

Possible problems in my team are: Stewart, Shaw, Treloar, SPS, SPP, Barrett, Steele, Eddy.
Would also bring my trades down to 24.

    TU: Do it
    TU: Maybe later

    14

    1
      1. But Rocky loves his fantasy stats 😛 Didn’t he make sure he took that kick before running off with dislocated fingers?

        9

        0
  25. Roughead > Balic

    O’Meara >Bont

Leaves 177k in bank as well

    T/U Worth it

T/D Hold O’Meara for couple more weeks if returns and Roughead

    18

    0
  26. Myself along with many other unlucky coaches took the punt on Crouch as POD this year, but its beginning to seem like he just isn’t the Supercoach player we hoped.
To avoid him losing even more value do we..

T/U move him along to a premo/fallen premo
T/D Hold, its too early he might come good not worth the trade just yet

    13

    1
  27. Just something to think about for all those thinking of bringing in Premium players this week.

    There won’t be a huge difference in scoring between Bont/ Rocky/ Sloane/Jellwood /Dusty etc.

Is this the best week to bring a particular player in?

Will they possibly be cheaper/ more expensive in a few weeks?

Which player suits your Bye strategy ?

You may also consider who has the better draw. e.g. plays weaker teams more often.

A little research and you may find your decision is made for you.

    Happy Coaching.

    9

    1. After trading out omeara and roughead to balic I am.left with 622k

      Who should I get in?

In the back I have dochertry , Howe, Laird

Mids danger, j Kennedy, fyfe, trealor, beams, t Mitchell,

      In forwards dalhaus, macrae,

Was thinking bont in the mid, or maybe a better forward? Josh Kennedy? Franklin? Yep?

      1

      1
  28. Angus.

Not sure what the rest of your team looks like?

You could sideways trade him for J Kelly?

You could downgrade him to a rookie on the bubble. This would leave you $500K

You could use the cash to upgrade 2 players on other lines.

    2

    0
  29. I’m not winning any games in my league so thinking:
Roughie to Balic & Treloar to Murphy
(next week) K.Simpson to J.Martin (if he has another good week) and some good cash in the bank

    T/U Good plan
    T/D S*** plan

    Cheers

    3

    10
  30. The Plan:

    This week: SPP/Roughead -> Adams/Balic (Bank $45,000)
    Next week: SPS/Marchbank -> Buddy/Fisher (Bank $57,000)
Following: Hampton/Parfitt -> EVW (best aground this week in 2s)/Parsons (Bank $357,000)
    Following: Otten/Newman -> Shaw/Simpson

    Team Rd9:
DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Shaw, Howe, Simpson ()
MID: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Bontempelli, Fyfe, T.Mitchell, Treloar, Beams, Rookie Loophole ()
    RUC: Sandilands, Witts ()
FWD: Dahlhaus, Franklin, Nankervis, Steele, WHE, Butler ()
    Bank: $100,000

100% fool proof. Until this weekends carnage.

    9

    0
  31. Two trades I’ve made this week are

    O’Meara -> M. Murphy
Shaw -> J. Lloyd (Which I can explain way)

    $86k spare

I will not be holding onto O’Meara for any longer, so I got a decent midfielder in Murphy with all the spare cash I had. Could’ve gone higher, but there’s a catch to it with what I’m doing (which I’ll explain). Also I got rid of Shaw and got Lloyd. Most of you will be thinking “What are you doing?!”. Firstly he has some injury concerns, and to be honest I’m sick of having to replace people with bench players from injuries and such already. And Sydney have a lot more easier teams coming up in the next 5 rounds. But that’s not the main reason.

What I’m planning on doing to slowly downgrade and get more cash freed up. In round 6 I’m planning on getting Zac Fisher in, and James Parsons in Round 7 when he comes back from suspension. So by Round 9 I should have roughly about $150-200k free when Gold Coast have their stupid bye thing, and I can get rid of Witts (who should be at his peak price by then) and get a top notch ruckman.

Knowing Supercoach though, things can crumble down and get in my way with a click of a finger. But that’s my forward thinking for the time being. If all goes to plan, I hopefully shouldn’t be making much trades until the SC Finals come around.

    3

    0
  32. Currently my only trade this week will be Roughead > Balic.
Depending on the team announcements, if either Powell-Pepper or Taranto are dropped, they’ll be traded to either Murphy or Hannebery. Or should I do the upgrade regardless of whether Powell-Pepper or Taranto are dropped?

    Team currently stands as follows:
    DEF
    T.Adams, R.Laird, A.Otten, H.Shaw, C.Marchbank, N.Newman (C.Hampton, T.Stewart)

    MID
    M.Bontempelli, P.Dangerfield, S.Pendlebury, N.Fyfe, T.Mitchell, D.Beams, J.Lloyd, S.Petrevski-Seton (S.Powell-Pepper, B.Parfitt, J.Barrett)

    RUC
    T.Nankervis, A.Sandilands (L.Strnadica)

    FWD
    L.Dahlhaus, J.Macrae, D.Butler, D.Houston, T.Taranto, H.Balic (J.Pickett, B.Eddy)

    $214,400 remaining salary.

    1

    1
    1. Chonks.

Your DEF and MID look pretty solid.

      Forward I would be worried.

      F3 to F6 all Rookies?

In your position I would keep Roughie at F4.

Have you considered J Spencer Ruck MELB.

This would allow you to move Nank to F3. and cover Sandi.

Check Father Dougal’s Cow talk to see who’s on the chopping block.

      Happy Coaching.

      3

      0
  33. Jake Lloyd a top 6 defender?

If so, SPP > Balic, Roughy > Lloyd via Taranto

In the future I’ll offload one of my backline rooks to a premo mid via Lloyd

    T/U- Yeah back it in
T/D- Nah nah McVeigh coming back will influence his scoring hold off

    3

    3
  34. Hi All
Got 315k in the bank looking to go
    Rookie (Pickett, Barret, Eddy)> Balic
But unsure what to do with the cash.

    1. How can anyone know what Ross will do?

Balic is a DPP rookie on the bubble with a – BE

Do you see a better downgrade option this week?

If you do…. please let me know as any Freo rookies I select tend to stink it up.

At least until I trade them out!

  35. i feel like rage trading M Murphy. Traded him in last week as he was scoring well and then he had to go and post his lowest score of the year….

  36. I currently have Hanners and Trealor and becoming more and more frustrated with Trealor botching the ball at almost every opportunity. Hanners will come good in confident of that I’m in it for the long run with him. Is it time to chop Trealor my option would be Sloane or Bont if I did. My midfield is Danger, Martin, Fyfe, Kennedy, Beams and Gaz with Hanners and Trealor. Really would like Bont or Sloane in. Thoughts?

  37. Current team including this weeks trades of Out: O’Meara, Roughead, In: Hannebery, Balic
    Def: R Laird, H Shaw, K Simpson, S Burgoyne, A Otten, C Hampton, (N Newman, T Stewart)
    Mid: P Dangerfield, S Pendlebury, J Selwood, J Kennedy, N Fyfe, M Priddis, D Hannebery, S Powell-Pepper, (O Florent, J Pickett, J Barrett)
    Rucks: A Sandilands, T Goldstein, (J Witts)
    Fwds: W Hoskin-Elliot, T Taranto, D Butler, K Turner, C McCarthy, H Balic, )M Hannan, B Eddy)
    Remaining salary: 83,900
    Current rank: 86,288

I was considering trading out Dangerfield in the bye rounds to allow anywhere from 2-4 upgrades but I’ve started to entertain the idea of trading him out next week.

Downgrading Dangerfield to Z Fisher next week will free up approximately 540,000-560,000 plus the remaining salary of 83,900 will equal approximately 620,000 to 640,000.

This will allow Taranto to be upgraded to L Franklin in RD 6 ( Buddy approx 470,000-490,000) costing 220,000 to 240,000 leaving 380,000 to 400,000 remaining. This should allow the 2 upgrades of W Hoskin-Elliot to J Macrae/L Dahlhaus and one of Butler/McCarthy/ Turner to J Kennedy in RD7.

By RD 8/RD9 Otten, Hampton, Newman and another rookie should be worth in excess of 300,000. This should allow Otten to be upgraded to S Docherty and Hampton to be upgraded to L Montagna by downgrading Newman and a rookie.

With Witts sitting at R3 he should be worth in excess of 400,000 allowing a downgrade to a loophole player and remaining salary increased to 300,000. This should allow SPP or Fisher to be traded to Dangerfield before the byes.

This plan consists of 10-11 trades thus leaving me with 14-15 trades entering the bye rounds with only 1 midfield and 3 forward spots to be filled.

TU: Execute the plan next week
TD: Wait to the bye rounds to offload Dangerfield

    1. whoooooooo Adam.

Why would you ever trade one of the the best scoring players?

      Don’t trade Dangerfield.

Downgrade JOM. Maybe even S Burgoyne.

I would pass on Hanners for now too.

You have to fix your forward line first.

      Dahl / N Roo/ Macrea. even Yeo? ( I just can’t do it )

Dangerfield should only be traded if he’s injured long term

Remember you get double points for your Captain!

      1. Thanks for your advice Freo Tragic.
Whilst I don’t think I would go through with it next week I have it locked in for RD 10/11.
As there are 3 trades per week in the bye rounds I would be able to trade Danger out in RD 11 to fund 2-3 upgrades and then bringing him in RD 13. This means I would only miss out on Danger for 1 week (Geel vs Adel) whilst gaining anywhere from 2-4 upgrades thus compensating his loss.

    2. This plan is ludicrous, hare-brained, impossibly ballsy, not to mention absurdly risky… and I absolutely love it.

At the risk of being downvoted into oblivion, I’m going to say that if your figures and projections stack-up, then back your gut and go for it.

      1. Adam.

The only way it can work is if you have 2 downgrade Rookies make it to $420K + each.

        1 downgrade to $125K rookie.

        Danger $715K..

Do you see Balic or any of the downgrade rookies Fisher etc. really getting to $420k? Let alone two of them.

Seems too good to be true because it is!!!

Be interested to hear Father D’s thoughts on this.

He is the Cow whisperer after all.

        1. The Witts trade to a loophole player will garner 300,000+ in funds and Dangerfield will be priced anywhere from 600,000 to 720,000. This means a rookie around 300,000-350,000 will be upgraded to Dangerfield via the Witts trade plus any remaining funds left (i.e funds from a Florent/Hannan/Pickett/Barrett/Eddy/Stewart/SPP downgrade or leftover funds from the previous upgrades)

          2

          2
          1. I can see what your trying to do Adam.

I just don’t trust your rookies to make enough cash in time to make it happen.

            Maybe I’m wrong?

            1. I like people thinking outside the box. If, for example, you replace the lemons in lemonade with limes, you invent limeade. Or, if you replace the water in lemonade with bleach you get lemon-bleach…..

Spending a trade to get rid of a healthy Dangerfield is a waste. The idea is to get players like him in. Spending two trades to get him out then back is a big waste.

I know the below is not exactly what is being proposed, but to simplify a little:

Start : Danger, Fat cow, Fat cow

              #1
              Danger – > downgrade
              Fat cow – > premo
              Fat cow – > premo

              #2
              Danger (nothing)
              Fat cow – > downgrade
              Fat cow – > premo

Option 2 takes one less trade, and you still have Danger.

I think you are undervaluing trades, and being a little optimistic on cow growth. Could happen, might not. I would think you could end up doing as well or better just making changes to cows without fiddling with premiums. You may also be over valuing premiums vs super-premiums.

In terms of implementing your plan, what happens if the cows do go up as much as you are hoping? Will it all go wobbly is something goes wrong? I like having plans but the complicated ones never seem to work in practice.

All just my opinions of course, and I’m wrong, like, all the time!

          2. As long as your price assumptions are based on actual mathematical projections, and not just guesswork, then I say go for it.

    3. Adam,
For the love of God, don’t trade Danger out. Odds are an injury or two will bob up and screw up your best laid plans before the byes.
If there is an under-performing premium in your team, it’s Goldy……..

  38. SPP’s B.E. is up to 41 this week. Is it worth trading him now, or should we hold him and hope that his scoring improves?

    0

    1
    1. They’ve had two tough games in a row (Adelaide and GWS). Have 2 easier games to let those drop out of the price cycle before it goes down again. Certainly others than can be dropped first.

      3

      0
      1. I’ve just realised in the last fifteen minutes that I have enough money to upgrade him to a premium, so this kind of changes things.

TU: SPP (currently on-field) –> a premium midfielder
TD: Taranto (currently on the bench) –> a premium forward

        2

        8
        1. I probably should have mentioned that in the first scenario (the TU one), Taranto still gets traded out – he becomes Balic. In the latter option, someone else (probably SPP) gets downgraded to Balic.

I should also point out that I am currently playing two rookie mids, whereas my forward line is pretty strong for this time of year. So I’m probably going to go for a premium mid instead of a forward, regardless of what the thumbs say (sorry thumbs!).

  39. Dylan Roberton looks like a good D5-6 keeper won’t be this cheap again. Grab him now? Great pod only in 1% of teams

  41. worth trading shaw -> adams this early?

Adams looking good and shaw had a shakey start to the year. Although, shaw could easily turn this around. Thoughts? Cheers.

  42. Reading the thread, I think I have settled on
    Roughie to Balic
Hampton to Laird (Hampton early but want Laird and i think now is the right time)
Gives me Doc, Howe, Lloyd and Laird promo defenders, 2 to go (Adams plus 1)
SPP on field at M8? have Barrett, Pickett and Balic on Mid bench
Dahl, Nan, JJK, Steele, WHE & Butler.

Only problem is that Treloar stays another week and will loose more cash!
Currently 158 overall, never been this high so trying to keep projected score reasonably strong

    4

    2
    1. Do you think Murphy will be a top-10 midfielder by the end of the year? If so, then go for it. Otherwise, find someone else to bring in. Or just keep Steele a bit longer.

      1

      0
      1. On current form yes but its a long year. My bench in the Mids at moment is a problem Barrett , Mountford , Hibberd , so maybe the safer option would be bring in Balic for Mountford then D Myers for Hibberd when he is named. Then look at getting some premos in currently sitting in the top 3 %

        3

  43. Are these solid trades?

    Round 5: Roughead -> Balic

Round 6: Hampton -> Fisher via Hibberd dpp
    Florent -> Parker

Round 7: SPP -> Parsons via dpp
    Rookie -> Premo

    Round 8: Witts -> Stef

    2

    1
      1. I thought Parker would be a good buy, because he can easily average 110-120 over a stretch of games, and is dirt cheap.

        0

        1. Mongoose.

I would watch Parker closely this week. He has mainly been playing forward.

I Heeney should be back this week. This may push Parker back up to the wing or even see him at more centre bounces. With so many Mids to choose from, picking one who’s not actually playing midfield is a very silly idea.

          Happy Coaching.

  44. Dear Supercoach Seers

T/U Trade Higgins Out…he will pump out a 180 next week but then will need a double knee cap, ACL bypass.

T/D Keep Higgins, so what if his break even is 130…you need something else to worry about other than a Kim Jong missile launching.

Comment if you’re thinking about J Martin this week and why you wouldn’t put this gun in your side.

  45. J Roughead:
    Avg VS WC since 2008: 111.14 from 14 (low of 73 and a high of 184, 6/14 below 100, 5/14 120+)
    RD 5 avg since 2009: 81 from 7 (low of 41 and a high of 109, 6/7 below 100)

  46. Am I the only one not trading JOM out?

His low score of 44 (ish from memory) was due to a knock and missed a week.

I’m backing him to average 80+ for the next three to four weeks

    2

    2
    1. The “knock to the knee” seemed kinda suss. For someone to have the history he does, alarm bells were ringing. Looking at his stats, he is down on kicks, tackles are down and handballing is up. Appears to not be favoring the knee or contact.

Last week was the week to get rid of him. If you held, you back him in this week.
